Instead of abandoning government property, the government should convert it into government housing. As a former servicemember, I can attest that they are already tiny villages. I'm aware not all bases are fit for such things, biochemical hazards being what they are, but I'm certain many could. I also bet the US Army Corps of Engineers could pioneer recycling efficiency and set the example for the civilian world and beyond.

What so many people don't know is so many toxic exposures and contaminates were used in, around, on base housing areas. My husband was in the Army, the base housing on the base we lived on, the soil had been previously contaminated with Agent Orange, moved to the base, to build up the housing area, after the base had been sprayed with hundreds of toxic herbicides and pesticides and continued to by the Army Corp of Engineers even while we lived there. If people do research, they would find just about every military base in the states has been contaminated, via the water, soil, lead paint was used, lead pipes, asbestos, etc. Most of the closed bases were sold to private companies, and to get rid of the contaminated soil, lead pipes, paint, etc would cost more than to tear down. On the base we lived on WWII mortar rounds are still being found, all the water wells came back with at least 8 cancer causing agents. This is just an example of why housing like this can't be used for housing for others and housing for the homeless.

That place looks like it was built maybe in the early 80s. I was an electrician at that time and I recognize the type of light fixtures/poles in the parking lots. I installed many of exactly the same ones. I love how this guy is able to convey a certain type of mood with his explorations, sometimes with just a little subtle creepy music in the background. Great channel for this type of content.

Having been homeless, seeing this breaks my heart! I still am one step away from being homeless again. This is sad! Every day I am aftaid I will be without a home. I am sick with Pre-Leukimia. I am terrified because the guy upstairs litterally torments me every day. I'm afraid I will die(and of him). I know I will. I have no money to move or people to help. Someone slashed my tires. So no money for that. I'm 68 years old and fight to saty alive, toilet paper is so expencive. Maybe I am to late to save. Help those who can't.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your video explorations. They are truly awesome. You take the time, to find out the total history, on the exploration you are doing that day. A calming sense of peace, comes over me, when I watch your videos. I know that might sound weird, but it's true. I watch a lot of these types of explorations, but sometimes I can't watch certain people do them. The videos are too short, and there is no back stories to their explorations, and also, a lot of these explorers seem to be full of adrenaline. I know it probably is exhilarating, doing what you do, and others, but I still rather watch a longer, and more thorough video. You do such a great job. Keep up the great work, and thank you for sharing.

I remember maybe 4 years ago watching Urbex or Urban Decay explore a defunct housing development where there were dozens of almost finished houses, beautiful homes, and the contractor went bankrupt. They were in the process of finding a new builder, but had to tear down all the houses bec6kids had gone in with spray paint, ripped out wiring. Smashed everything. It made one feel sick, to see the beautiful homes destroyed, and hundreds of years of tree growth, materials, millions of years old granite, hardwood floors scrapped.

Might want to read the environmental reports. The base needed to be bulldozed and rebuilt, and Big Blue did not want to be bothered with the costs. The Port expanded and all those nasty environmental problems have been paved over at China's expense. Definitely too bad about San Pedro housing, but that land was too valuable to be given to the plebs. Money does talk.

Definitely looks like 60s / early 70s at the latest, height of the Cold War, more than likely built during the Southeast Asian Conflict when they would need housing for families of officers, infantrymen, and troops in specialized positions, such as aircraft and vehicle mechanics, designers, mappers, arms inventory dispatchers, Corp of Engineers, etc. When the Cold War ended, properties such as this was not needed much anymore...

Reminds me a lot of government housing at Offutt AFB I lived in for a few years. We were in a single family home. Lots of them were abandoned. This was back in 2004-2006. And to the folks saying this needs to be converted into project housing. That would require a lot of these homes to be completely renovated. It would likely cost more to do that and set up a program than to build something modern and to code.

My best guess is it was a military base, I've seen a few like this before where the government just leaves I and they'll put up chain link fencing with some type of green cloth over the front.
Now it it was out in the middle of no where and it was a trek to get to they'll do the samething minus the green cloth and add barbed wire on top, one place I found while searching was just straight up abandoned in the middle of the woods with nothing enclosing it.
As for where it is I'm thinking possibly Shenandoah Woods in Pennsylvania that was abandoned in the 1990s.

What a shame could have made them into civilian housing after the Cold War good homes go to waste.

It's too bad it was not repurposed to community housing for the general public to purchase like Wurtsmith AFB was when it closed.

I suppose the government still owns this property? Hard to understand why they just let all this go to waste. Or….at least done something else with it. More waste!

Very typical military housing. Should have been given to homeless, or section8 housing.
