Poor Hollis. Thinks a 2-foot long cottonmouth is "world's largest", and at 1:05 says "moccasin tryin' to eat the hammer". Another victim of poisoned moonshine.
Comparing the size of the water moccasin with the clawhammer estimated size is 53 in. The world record is 74 inches caught in the great dismal swamp area North Carolina / Virginia border.
5 or 6 feet? bwah! 6 feet is the world record, and that hammer proves it's 2 1/2-3 ft at best. but hey, wouldn't be the first time a fella wayyyy overestimated the size of his snake...
I know everybody and their brother has a big snake story but I saw one in Arkansas that was 6'8" long. Believe it or not I was bowhunting and I shot an arrow right next to it's head and there was a stick sticking out of the ground right next to the tip of his tail. I came back there the next day (and after looking around very, very carefully) measured from arrow to stick. That was 6'10". Give an inch on either end, and there you have it. The snake wasn't laying in a perfectly straight line so it was longer than that even by some amount. That thing was as big around as my thigh it looked like and it's head was as big as a saucer. Still gives me the willies and that's been 30 years.
That's a nice one but you should see the 14 ft 175lb Rattleback Coppermocissans we have in Tn Bahahahahaha! You know you've heard that shit before though......lol
I live in Arkansas where the black River runs into the white river, hunted and fished for over 50 years and I have seen so gaints. Never kill the except when I was a teenager. One of God's creations.
After seeing it beside the hammer, I think I have saw a bigger one. It was almost as long as an Eagle Claw fly rod. We smelled it before my stupid stepped on it.
I used to live close to Pine Island Bayou near Beaumont Texas in the Big Thicket . My friend and I were fishing and we saw one that was black and at least 7 to 8 foot long and had a head as big as my hand laying flat on a table , and he lived right on the bayou and he had seen one that came up by his aluminum boat that was even bigger. Scared him so bad he drooped his paddle and beer , he waited 10 minuets to reach for it . There are exceptions to every rule like alligators they say 14 foot is as big as they get BS me and a dozen other people saw one by the Rainbow Bridge in Texas that went every inch of 20 foot maybe more it's head was two feet wide and maybe over 3 foot long . And dumb ass me was throwing pebbles at him when he was only ten feet from us the water exploded when he turned end for end and swam back to the river it was like lightning he was so fast . We all just looked at each other realizing it could of had any one of us it wanted before we could of blinked . Yep it was stupid .
Isn’t that just a water snake? Cottonmouths/moccasins are grey/dark grey with a offish white belly. They usually swim in a more sideways pattern with their face pointed way up. That snake looks like a brown water snake, which gets called moccasin quite often because of the similar body shape, but the colors are way off, and the head.
Definitely a younger cottonmouth. Heavy bodied pit viper. Swims on top of the water. If you were to flip it over, you could also see that all the belly scales are not divided below the anal plate. There are some rare cottonmouths who do not completely switch over to dull gray or black as adults and retain some of the pattern. It is rare but not unheard of.
Nope. It's a myth that Cottonmouths are always dark. A lot of people get bit thanks to that bit of misinformation on the internet. Cottonmouths actually come in all kinds of shapes and colors. They can be black, brown and yellow, tan... I've even seen some that look almost orange. Best way to spot them is look for the stripe going down the side of its head. They all share that characteristic.
@@petercarmeci8317 I was thinking that its markings were very distinct, soif it were a cottonmouth perhaps it lived in clean water, he was kind of big to be young and his tail didn't look colored. His head was also clearly defined from his neck, there were some good shots from above and his eyes weren't visible, and I'm pretty sure I saw an eye stripe. I am going with cotton mouth too.
This is not the world's largest cottonmouth. Not even close. They can get over 6 feet and bigger around than your arm. This was a nice-sized one though. But let's not exaggerate. haha
Imagine reaching to get your gun as a gobbler is coming to you and one of those is coiled up beside you in the blind. Happened to my dad, needless to say Turkey lived and snake died! Big Black river bottom was full of them before the hogs moved in. Not as bad anymore
every time I see a cotton mouth I smell em before I see em they have a very musty smell and usually are muddy and gnats are always around em like a alligator snapping turtle
@@HollisFarmsMS Excellent... I got nailed by a 4' Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake 5 years ago while dove hunting...... A snake, any snake, never gets a free pass from me any longer...... I'll award you with GOOD JOB compliment then LOL......
For sure a big one. Looks like it does around here somewhere. Apalachicola National Forest, Tates Hell State Forest. Have big ones like that in there. Biggest ones I've ever seen. I know the official record from what I've read is 6ft 2in. Still looking.
When I was a kid I got in trouble by the guy I was mowing for because I kill a snake with the mower. To me the only good snake is a dead one he didn't see it that way.

Look at the tail of the snake Cotton mouth get short real quick it’s stubby

Dude, if that was a whitetail, he'd be at least 180 class. No home improvement projects are getting done with that hammer today.
I was about to be impressed.. till it swam up next to the hammer! 😂😂😂

@Gunnar Williams not all of them are dangerous and they just want to be left alone
@Gunnar Williams they’ll only attack when antagonized they don’t want to kill you
@Gunnar Williams people think that cottonmouths chase you but they really don’t, watch the video “chased by a nest of cottonmouths “ by orry Martin
