    Poor Hollis. Thinks a 2-foot long cottonmouth is "world's largest", and at 1:05 says "moccasin tryin' to eat the hammer". Another victim of poisoned moonshine.

      I know everybody and their brother has a big snake story but I saw one in Arkansas that was 6'8" long. Believe it or not I was bowhunting and I shot an arrow right next to it's head and there was a stick sticking out of the ground right next to the tip of his tail. I came back there the next day (and after looking around very, very carefully) measured from arrow to stick. That was 6'10". Give an inch on either end, and there you have it. The snake wasn't laying in a perfectly straight line so it was longer than that even by some amount. That thing was as big around as my thigh it looked like and it's head was as big as a saucer. Still gives me the willies and that's been 30 years.

    I used to live close to Pine Island Bayou near Beaumont Texas in the Big Thicket . My friend and I were fishing
    and we saw one that was black and at least 7 to 8 foot long and had a head as big as my hand laying flat on a
    table , and he lived right on the bayou and he had seen one that came up by his aluminum boat that was even bigger.
    Scared him so bad he drooped his paddle and beer , he waited 10 minuets to reach for it . There are exceptions to every rule
    like alligators they say 14 foot is as big as they get BS me and a dozen other people saw one by the Rainbow Bridge
    in Texas that went every inch of 20 foot maybe more it's head was two feet wide and maybe over 3 foot long . And
    dumb ass me was throwing pebbles at him when he was only ten feet from us the water exploded when he turned end for end and swam back to the river it was like lightning he was so fast . We all just looked at each other realizing it could of had any one of us it wanted before we could of blinked . Yep it was stupid .

    Isn’t that just a water snake? Cottonmouths/moccasins are grey/dark grey with a offish white belly. They usually swim in a more sideways pattern with their face pointed way up.
    That snake looks like a brown water snake, which gets called moccasin quite often because of the similar body shape, but the colors are way off, and the head.

    • @HollisFarmsMS

    • @petercarmeci8317
      @petercarmeci8317 3 роки тому

      Definitely a younger cottonmouth. Heavy bodied pit viper. Swims on top of the water. If you were to flip it over, you could also see that all the belly scales are not divided below the anal plate. There are some rare cottonmouths who do not completely switch over to dull gray or black as adults and retain some of the pattern. It is rare but not unheard of.

    • @TheBerylknight
      @TheBerylknight 3 роки тому +1

      Nope. It's a myth that Cottonmouths are always dark. A lot of people get bit thanks to that bit of misinformation on the internet. Cottonmouths actually come in all kinds of shapes and colors. They can be black, brown and yellow, tan... I've even seen some that look almost orange. Best way to spot them is look for the stripe going down the side of its head. They all share that characteristic.

    • @muffadile
      @muffadile 2 роки тому +1

      @@petercarmeci8317 I was thinking that its markings were very distinct, soif it were a cottonmouth perhaps it lived in clean water, he was kind of big to be young and his tail didn't look colored. His head was also clearly defined from his neck, there were some good shots from above and his eyes weren't visible, and I'm pretty sure I saw an eye stripe. I am going with cotton mouth too.
