The gain is 30% on thrust and the stability of the counter-rotation. Surface piercing will make the boat (walk) on the surface in the direction of rotation, so the counter rotation nullifies that problem.
Weismann Marine Surface drives and surface props are slow off the line, this is where jet drives wins! Surfacing propellers has the best top speeds! They simply break speed records! Duo-prop surface drive will have the best of both worlds and stability!
Glenn Oropeza Except for the exception. 🥴 There’s one type of boat that is both the quickest and fastest....pushed by a little tiny prop on a V-drive. The top fuel drag boats. Oh, and I mustn’t forget to mention the 8000+ horsepower. 👊😎 Yes, I’ve been told to shut up. 😆 Check this out. - ua-cam.com/video/fO862lWuBdE/v-deo.html&feature=share
Always wondered if the dual prop idea actually produced significant performance increases. Worked on volvo outdrives with similar dual prop arrangement and was frankly appalled at the extra machinery to make it all happen. Do you have any comparisons versus single prop setup? Very interesting though.
I imagine it didn't take off after this time. Can't imagine how this could possibly replace 2 counter rotating Arneson drives. Frankly it makes no sense. And the complexity... Ugh.
We have not had time or money to continue this drive program. We will. This was a proof of concept and she worked out of the box. It is very simple and easy to work on and miles ahead of an Arneson. For example this drive can run positive trim. Patent pending.

does it trim out?

I had no idea people were still using VHS camcorders these days.
The video is almost 10 years old so ...
Gofer
should make a single prop system on the cheap to replace alpha and brovo units! bolt on shit! merc can'y handle that! ha. last longer!
pare che funzionano, ma ci vuole ben altro ciò che ho inventato io è elaboratissimo ed efficentissimo, saluti
The boat doesn't run well: the boat is too low!
