People tend to focus on the marketing being bad. However, the great game prices, touch screen features, backwards compatibility, and of course the amazing games themselves prove the console is awesome.
ugh I miss free online...I’ll never pay for online as it’s more of a novelty in my opinion, I only ever play online when I’m really in the mood. I miss having the option to play online w/o paying (ik the online subscription is super cheap but honestly? I won’t ever pay for it)

You are so right about the wiiu having personality! It has so much charm to it. That's something that really bugged me about the switch, the user interface is so boring and sterile. and I couldn't believe how they relegated the mii maker to the settings. Before the switch came out I totally thought they were going to reveal a brand new version of miis with like maybe a new art style, and loads of customization and stuff. but no lol
Great video! I completely agree with you on these points. I own a switch and it has potential but it feels like such a slight step up from the Wii U and in some cases (like in this video) a step backwards. I play my Wii u more than my switch as I plain and simple prefer just about everything about it. I’ve got some amazing games on it and although I will say the switch does indeed have some great games like Mario odyssey and luigis mansion etc. I find my self returning to my Wii u more and more lately. If the miiverse functionality was still active and the gamepad range was just a bit more I wouldn’t have bought a switch. And with our new Facebook group WiiUsers I’m now seeing others who appreciate the Wii and Wii u for the great consoles they are.
Many times when a game gets ported to the Switch, it loese that unique potential. Example Rayman Legends, Toad's Treasure Tracker, 3D Mario World(rumored to be ported to Switch) they had that uniqueness. When I played Rayman Legends on Switch it just felt like a normal 2D game. Playing on Wii u, you had to actually do things with the controller especially with Murphy. Star Fox Zero another example. Pikmin 3 also. When Alph or Britness talked through the Gamepad it sounded as if they were really there because it had built in speakers. You can look at the map and play Pikmin3 at the same time and see the Treasure or see what Pikmin you left and where they are located and get them back before the sun went down. So you right the games on Switch do not have those Wii U features and you paying more for less. I still have my Wii U and love it today even though I love my Switch as well. It is just nice to see a video on what the Wii U had better over the Switch.
The Wii U had a lot of good qualities and things it did better than people like to admit. While it was new it was a little rough but now it holds up very well.
Agreed with everything here! I received the Wii U for Christmas 2013 and had pretty low expectations going in, but I had so much fun with it. Wind Waker, Mario 3D World, and Splatoon were such fantastic games. I hate how much negativity surrounds the Wii U, because it was super fun and had a lot of great features the Switch lacks. I just feel like it was the last time Nintendo felt like "Nintendo". The Switch is so bare bones without any of the charm we'd normally have in years past. I also can't agree more about the eShop. It's an absolute nightmare on the Switch (no way no organize games, no reviews, nothing). I also miss the ability to control the TV with the gamepad. Seems like a small thing, but it was really convenient.
This was such a great video 👍! It highlights all the Wii u’s strong points really well, which I feel like a lot of people don’t really talk about. The only thing I think you missed out was Miiverse, being a Wii u/3ds exclusive.
The most amazing part about the Wii U is how even though it was never meant to be a portable console, it can be taken on the go. "Oh but games don't work on the gamepad without the console". Indeed. So what do you do? You take the console + gamepad with you! Cause you don't need a TV for the most part. The Wii U console is not even that heavy either. But you would need to find access to a plug socket. And maybe a second plug socket because you know what the gamepad battery is like
Oh yeah. If you can find a plug, and have a console and game pad with you, you can still play the games! So... it technically IS a portable and home console.
The WiiU was so under rated. I had a tough time finding one at the time. I ended up with two in the end (My friend took a break from gaming for a year). I still use them from time to time as there are things I loved about the Wii U that is missing on the Switch. For instance, you could use your Wii U gamepad as an alternative TV Remote, the menu music is the best I've ever heard for a console compared to the silence we get on the Switch, I'm hoping that the sucessor of the Switch (late 2021 at the very earliest but most likely sometime in 2022 or 2023) will put the music back in or better yet, release a system update and bring it to the Switch. The fact that the Wii U and the Switch both part of the 8th Gen console and the Switch was created because of the Wii U's poor sales. Had the Wii U had done better, we would have had Nintendo's 9th Gen Console as early as 2019 if not around the same time as PS5 & Xbox. Games like Splatoon 2 would have been on the Wii U. Animal Crossing New Horizons would have been on both the Wii U and the 9th Gen Sucessor. I love to speculate what could have been, however the Switch is a great console in it's own right but it's just missing those features that the Wii U thrived on.
@@Dark-xv9iz I agree, both Splatoon 1 and 2 only had a 2 year gap between them and not a great deal changed between the two. We got extra pants, new hosts, salmon run and later on the octo expansion and new music. But the gameplay was very similar. The only thing that was missing was the battle dojo mode which sucked anyway so there's no big loss there. But in theory, the Wii U could easily run Splatoon 2 since the Switch isn't that much powerful to the Wii U anyway. But we all know Nintendo's hardware is behind the other consoles in comparison.

I'm so glad I bought the Wii U last week even though I'm a Swtich owner, it's endless the games I will eventually buy after I pass Super Mario Bros Wii U version (amazing game and graphics). I have smash ultimate which I lost the copy, Mario Kart which is with my brother til august and just bought Mario Golf Super Rush it will be a long while before I buy a Switch game since what I paid for the Wii U is a price of three Switch games and different from just the same first party Switch titles.
Wii U is the best girlfriend console. The gamepad makes local multiplayer easy. Most games are co-op and you do not need to share the screen. And competitive play is also fun as you can hide what you are doing while still being able to speak to each other face to face. And she can watch her tv shows and I can play on the gamepad while still being able to talk to each other.
Before I say this, I am too young to be employed and I can’t make money. So basically, our Wii U game pad broke and we can’t play many of our Wii U games. My parents promised that they will get a replacement soon. It has been six months. Me and my siblings are now growing very impatient. Recently, our T.V broke as well, and the very next day, my parents bought a new one along with surround sound because they thought we would like it. So basically, my parents are ready to throw a thousand dollars at getting a huge T.V with surround sound with little though while they are reluctant to buy a replacement game pad for about $150. Like this comment if you agree they parents should replace our broken game pad so hundreds of dollars worth of games don’t go to waste.

Well, I disagree. The switch had better specs, power, and, in my opinion, games. Also, the overall look of the switch is a lot cleaner than the Wii U imo. The only thing that would make me go back on this statement is that I can’t play great titles such as ocarina of time, Metroid games, etc. on the switch.
I liked Miiverse. When I got stuck on a level because I couldn't figure out an puzzle in Zelda, I snap shot it and wait for someone to help me through. Also I would use Miiverse if I wanted to play online and people would come right away for a Smash bros fight. I also likes the mic on the game pad for blowing or talking through it and had an unique way for games like Rayman Legends, Toads Treasure Tracker, Nintendoland and 3D World. I can play my Wii games. Which is why I dont need a Wii when I have the Wii U and still have my Gamecube for Gamecube games. Lastly having the internet browser, youtube, and Netflix and turning your TV on and off with the Gamepad and changing the channels. The Gamepad is more comfortable to hold than than the Switch in your hands.
I prefer the WII-U because the games are so much cheaper than the swtitch ports and their isn't really a diference with the ports om the switch and i am not a portable gamer.
Let’s be honest, the switch isn’t very original at all. There was a company that made a handheld TV hybrid before the switch. And there are barely any new games, or games that don’t feel like remakes, ports, ext- The Wii U just in so many ways, is much better than the switch, and 5 months later that hasn’t changed at all, as Nintendo releases small short new games that leave people dissatisfied and disappointed.
Cat Dog I own both and I agree with him. While I love both consoles I prefer the Wii U as a console. The Switch has a better library but the Wii U has all the features it’s missing.
BONUS: You don't have to lose your Wii data on your OG Wii to have it on the Wii U. You can literally copy it over by saving the data of games/channels you have onto an SD Card, and putting it in the Wii U.
I think that wii u eshop will shutdown and ill be sad but i never had wii u and a wii but i had a friend who has wii and i got mario kart wii online with 3rd party software and also i have a friend at school he had a wii u and he invited me to his home and i played with him for hours back in 2014 ahh the greatest memories.
I agree too much I have a Wii U Wii and switch I loved the Wii but the Wii U was so exciting I remember getting splatoon for it and having so much fun and getting level 78 then splatoon 2 came out so I started a new game on it tried to go online and... I had to pay about 35 dollars a year just for online like I just bought the game for 80 dollars at eb games now I have to pay more money jeez so I payed then it said pending when I put in my credit card information and it said pending for about 20 Minutes then I tried playing splatoon 2 then it said “no internet connection” I did have internet connection so I contacted Nintendo about it waited 4 days for a response then they fixed it and finally I could play splatoon 2.

Nintendo could not handle the 3DS and WiiU at the same time , that's why WiiU games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors got delayed until 2014 , it was the 3DS that caused the failure of WiiU . the only thing WiiU was missing from Nintendo is a new Metroid Game in HD .
Great points and also that E3 video. The Wii U to me is like the PS3 (though with less shovelware which is a good thing sure less western appealing games and not the Japanese support Vita had but still while not the Dreamcast level close it was a good system I didn't feel I have ever wanted my money or time with and for my first niche/collector want to buy console that says a lot when I could have got anything else to start with). An all in one console for its time. The online, BC, Virtual Console and sure part GameCube part Wii of game releases and direction but still not that bad I think. I mean I bought a Wii U for its cool ideas to get me back on the Nintendo train after the Wii/DS were cool but I didn't appreciate them as much and the Wii U was my pick me up system to want to play their new, their old and see how their approach with artstyles or gimmicky game design hardware was and I was not disappointed at all. Appreciate the Wii/DS much more (got a 3DS later) and found Sony's lack of use in controllers annoying when third parties use it better. That and the Gamepad/stick layout is comfortable for something with plastic tops I don't like but the underside is so good and easier to hold then Switch or handhelds without a grip. I never use grips but still it feels like a grip already part of the Gamepad that with tons of remodeling the shape many times I appreciate they did even if sad that employee had to. But for something like the Dreamcast VMU (try playing the sniper game I forget the name on the VMU) or Gameboy Advance to GameCube it was a good idea it's just people care for typical experiences not gimmicky ones. The touchscreen even in menus on the Wii U/3DS/Vita get more use then on Switch and I hate that as I want to use it sometimes. That and those systems have PDF manuals. PS4 has them on the company websites but they don't want to put the effort as much as not use controller features on a Dualshock 4 about 1-4% I assume. Sure Switch it's probably similar but no option to select one anyway but at least it doesn't have DLC and other things on the menus in my face. Switch has no ads nor do any Nintendo systems compared to the PS4/5 and 360+ for Xbox it's just annoying. The web browsers are great though and still usable even if UA-cam isn't as much as it's slow but still. Watching 360p already and then on the Gamepad was fine while I was doing something else. I only need the audio most times and if I care to see something else footage wise that's important I'll look at screenshot or other forms to get the higher quality or just play the game myself when available anyway. Surprising people that I use the Wii U Gamepad while someone is playing a game on another console that uses the TV no problem. Using Remote Play on my Vita. People that use the normal aspects of consoles but into core games here by the way just get confused (and don't care of course) and I just do it with a smug look on my face and appreciate the features. I use the Dualshock 4 touchpad when watching DVDs/Blu rays the buttons/remote isn't as fun I must swipe to skip the intros/outros and get straight to the action. XD Use your TV remote controls of standard inputs all you want I will use the unique way to do things instead and have fun doing it. If they let me do it on the console I'm going to use to show I care and prefer it. Not used the Gamepad as a TV remote as don't need to (besides Wii TV or whatever it was called among other apps are gone but still cool it's there if my Wii U is always plugged in but the TV button has not been used on my Gamepad once yet). Of course Red Steel 2 is better at the later Wii add-on use then Skyward Sword even if the motion controls there are still playable and I never had issues with it once I understood how it did things. Don't care about marketing (of course it does matter but I usually look at what a console does to sell me on it unlike the mainstream that don't go 'I want to play this game for the mechanics and get this console for hardware gimmicks' like I do) as a gamer and seeing similarly to PC or the DS as I understand the console's goal (I mean of the DS and PCs have splitscreen or dual screen and casting functionality it wasn't that hard for me to not love it done in a console form just like the Wii being like a mouse but didn't and bridging the gap where sticks aren't as great and where gyro has its limitations but no one wants a sensor bar so goodbye IR even though the IR with Brain Age looks cool but I haven't played it) and its strengths and weaknesses I didn't care. Besides another AV/HDMI option console yes please. Even the Wii mode while odd I appreciate they took the time to do that instead of launch the game as while I don't have WiiWare and other things on my Wii the way of going about that on Wii U while possible I see being awkward also even with the amount of VC and Wii U games I have with folders as it is. The Switch is good but feels like a Turbo Express (Turbo Graphx using it's HuCards on the go), Nomad to the TV (Genesis on the go) or PSP with Wiimotes and with a cable to the TV or a dock like the PSP Go using a Dualshock 3 (the closest you can get to the Switch). So from some point it's a modern version of an idea done before but still unique with the Joycons splitting from a console and the ability to do splitscreen on a handheld (sure tablets/Laptops can have multiple quadrants of windows for any apps and games so it's nothing new there) but for a handheld console it's impressive even though I have never used it still a cool feature like the Wii U's Assymetrical multiplayer compared to 'we can just do online multiplayer so you lose the feature and it's just 5 people and the role may be different but you don't feel it as much'. Nothing wrong with that in the modern landscape as it's a good idea but it isn't as exciting to me as the Wii U doing literally everything a past Nintendo system can to a degree of the Wii/DS era while the GameCube does the GameCube and handheld Gameboy aspects well with the Gameboy Player. The DS does dual screens better in Mario Bros DS in caves swap the screen, Phantom Hourglass has the lid closing to imprint the map and Mario Vs. Donkey has two separate videos placing on both screens that's insane. People only cared it was a before smartphone device for training and cooking and classic books but to me in games it was great. I never played Mario Vs. Donkey but the other two were great for it. So those situations it can't do but still HUD of the screen is appreciated in my book and for RPGs more time out of menus on screen the better unless necessary. The Wii U games don't have that same dual screen flexibility and the console can't be used with the Web Browser and game at the same time (manuals and games or UA-cam video and game) for example whether power of the system or the way it was structured besides the TV as a priority besides the Gamepad being before the TV to do things straight from the console like Nintendo intended. So it isn't that possible to go away from your phone but the Xbox Series is there and the Xbox One and Vita games (PS4 you can have a game and web browser but not access the settings, or another app without it being suspended to offer more power to it so it's very limited while the Xbox One was designed for multiple app use just not multiple games use like the Series consoles are. How the Vita can do this with apps and a game to view trophies or a web browser or even the settings app for me to change the brightness for example and not restrict me on 2011 phone hardware and the PS4 can't because it has a different purpose and strictness to view settings is just annoying) have apps and games work though Minecraft Vita on the latest update does use so much the Vita can't have other apps open to use so that sucks but most Vita games allow switching and the Xbox One doing multiple apps also like a phone and games now with the used up storage to allow it (digital games though) is impressive stuff. It's closer to a PC/Smartphone allowing that functionality already but in the console controlled space and for multiple games working. The fact all games need to be able to sucks as Indies should be able to run doing these things as they don't use a lot of the hardware but it is up to the code/hardware structure after all talking so not surprised. I mean if you had the Wii U be like the Vita with Remote Play but instead the console and tablet can have the same game put into it it would be cool but also a case of 'why would I want both' confusion for sure (of course the Dock solves this but still if you wanted one or both then it's possible but expensive for two forms of the same hardware) even if you have your console and handheld playing the same game not casting it like Remote Play does. But Off TV Play is good on Wii U as the same thing for sure with games that do offer it to move menus around to what other versions of games look like that aren't Dual Screen required. The open development plans made sense then forcing it but still a thing I feel most didn't get when it should have been clear with the DS what to expect even if you don't cast the DS to the TV (or as a third screen) even though possible with other means but still.
"Why the switch Doesnt have a web Browser" because that's how we hacked it in the past there are many things the switch does purely for security. I absolutely love my wiiu amazing backwards compatibility and emulation and if modded you can run Gamecube games with Gamepad Support

A few days ago I started to play with my Wii U again and yes, I wish it was a little more powerful graphically wise but I damn love how the gamepad was a game changer for me. Is something that the switch kinda have but not at the extension of the gamepad since it has the second screen. Game and wario is a real showcase of the gameplay potential the console had but it was only exploited by few games as splatoon, Pikmin 3, Mario maker and xenoblade X. And of course, not even mentioning it can play the best Zelda of all time. I even suspect the game was downgraded gameplay wise on the Wii U (I cannot use the map on the gamepad, and it only use the gyroscope like the switch)
I'm going to be honest I dont really like the switch I kinda regret buying my. like 70 %of the game library is ports and that's wired I'm not against ports but it's supposed to be a new Nintendo and we're getting games from yesterday old games I want something new and exciting and I hate that the virtual console is gone I don't know what there doing this online service isn't really neat it sounded cool at first but they hardly add super Nintendo games and we don't even know if we're getting any other systems to play for the service. maybe someday I will like the switch but after this year 2020 they really need to step there game up

its very good for roms emulators on the retroarch, you still can run game cube roms on it and they run smooth as the original console.

Yeah, I can agree with the over saturation of ports on the switch. I feel like now, most new game announcements are underwhelming for the switch.

@@Dark-xv9iz I agree, both Splatoon 1 and 2 only had a 2 year gap between them and not a great deal changed between the two. We got extra pants, new hosts, salmon run and later on the octo expansion and new music. But the gameplay was very similar.
The only thing that was missing was the battle dojo mode which sucked anyway so there's no big loss there.
But in theory, the Wii U could easily run Splatoon 2 since the Switch isn't that much powerful to the Wii U anyway. But we all know Nintendo's hardware is behind the other consoles in comparison.

I'm so glad I bought the Wii U last week even though I'm a Swtich owner, it's endless the games I will eventually buy after I pass Super Mario Bros Wii U version (amazing game and graphics). I have smash ultimate which I lost the copy, Mario Kart which is with my brother til august and just bought Mario Golf Super Rush it will be a long while before I buy a Switch game since what I paid for the Wii U is a price of three Switch games and different from just the same first party Switch titles.
The Wii U looks great!
Wii U is the best girlfriend console. The gamepad makes local multiplayer easy. Most games are co-op and you do not need to share the screen. And competitive play is also fun as you can hide what you are doing while still being able to speak to each other face to face. And she can watch her tv shows and I can play on the gamepad while still being able to talk to each other.
Before I say this, I am too young to be employed and I can’t make money.
So basically, our Wii U game pad broke and we can’t play many of our Wii U games. My parents promised that they will get a replacement soon. It has been six months. Me and my siblings are now growing very impatient. Recently, our T.V broke as well, and the very next day, my parents bought a new one along with surround sound because they thought we would like it. So basically, my parents are ready to throw a thousand dollars at getting a huge T.V with surround sound with little though while they are reluctant to buy a replacement game pad for about $150. Like this comment if you agree they parents should replace our broken game pad so hundreds of dollars worth of games don’t go to waste.

Well, I disagree. The switch had better specs, power, and, in my opinion, games. Also, the overall look of the switch is a lot cleaner than the Wii U imo. The only thing that would make me go back on this statement is that I can’t play great titles such as ocarina of time, Metroid games, etc. on the switch.

I liked Miiverse. When I got stuck on a level because I couldn't figure out an puzzle in Zelda, I snap shot it and wait for someone to help me through. Also I would use Miiverse if I wanted to play online and people would come right away for a Smash bros fight. I also likes the mic on the game pad for blowing or talking through it and had an unique way for games like Rayman Legends, Toads Treasure Tracker, Nintendoland and 3D World. I can play my Wii games. Which is why I dont need a Wii when I have the Wii U and still have my Gamecube for Gamecube games. Lastly having the internet browser, youtube, and Netflix and turning your TV on and off with the Gamepad and changing the channels.
The Gamepad is more comfortable to hold than than the Switch in your hands.
I prefer the WII-U because the games are so much cheaper than the swtitch ports and their isn't really a diference with the ports om the switch and i am not a portable gamer.

Let’s be honest, the switch isn’t very original at all. There was a company that made a handheld TV hybrid before the switch. And there are barely any new games, or games that don’t feel like remakes, ports, ext- The Wii U just in so many ways, is much better than the switch, and 5 months later that hasn’t changed at all, as Nintendo releases small short new games that leave people dissatisfied and disappointed.

BONUS: You don't have to lose your Wii data on your OG Wii to have it on the Wii U. You can literally copy it over by saving the data of games/channels you have onto an SD Card, and putting it in the Wii U.

I think that wii u eshop will shutdown and ill be sad but i never had wii u and a wii but i had a friend who has wii and i got mario kart wii online with 3rd party software and also i have a friend at school he had a wii u and he invited me to his home and i played with him for hours back in 2014 ahh the greatest memories.

I agree too much I have a Wii U Wii and switch I loved the Wii but the Wii U was so exciting I remember getting splatoon for it and having so much fun and getting level 78 then splatoon 2 came out so I started a new game on it tried to go online and... I had to pay about 35 dollars a year just for online like I just bought the game for 80 dollars at eb games now I have to pay more money jeez so I payed then it said pending when I put in my credit card information and it said pending for about 20 Minutes then I tried playing splatoon 2 then it said “no internet connection” I did have internet connection so I contacted Nintendo about it waited 4 days for a response then they fixed it and finally I could play splatoon 2.

Nintendo could not handle the 3DS and WiiU at the same time , that's why WiiU games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors got delayed until 2014 , it was the 3DS that caused the failure of WiiU . the only thing WiiU was missing from Nintendo is a new Metroid Game in HD .

The Wii U to me is like the PS3 (though with less shovelware which is a good thing sure less western appealing games and not the Japanese support Vita had but still while not the Dreamcast level close it was a good system I didn't feel I have ever wanted my money or time with and for my first niche/collector want to buy console that says a lot when I could have got anything else to start with). An all in one console for its time. The online, BC, Virtual Console and sure part GameCube part Wii of game releases and direction but still not that bad I think. I mean I bought a Wii U for its cool ideas to get me back on the Nintendo train after the Wii/DS were cool but I didn't appreciate them as much and the Wii U was my pick me up system to want to play their new, their old and see how their approach with artstyles or gimmicky game design hardware was and I was not disappointed at all. Appreciate the Wii/DS much more (got a 3DS later) and found Sony's lack of use in controllers annoying when third parties use it better. That and the Gamepad/stick layout is comfortable for something with plastic tops I don't like but the underside is so good and easier to hold then Switch or handhelds without a grip.
I never use grips but still it feels like a grip already part of the Gamepad that with tons of remodeling the shape many times I appreciate they did even if sad that employee had to. But for something like the Dreamcast VMU (try playing the sniper game I forget the name on the VMU) or Gameboy Advance to GameCube it was a good idea it's just people care for typical experiences not gimmicky ones.
The touchscreen even in menus on the Wii U/3DS/Vita get more use then on Switch and I hate that as I want to use it sometimes. That and those systems have PDF manuals. PS4 has them on the company websites but they don't want to put the effort as much as not use controller features on a Dualshock 4 about 1-4% I assume. Sure Switch it's probably similar but no option to select one anyway but at least it doesn't have DLC and other things on the menus in my face. Switch has no ads nor do any Nintendo systems compared to the PS4/5 and 360+ for Xbox it's just annoying. The web browsers are great though and still usable even if UA-cam isn't as much as it's slow but still. Watching 360p already and then on the Gamepad was fine while I was doing something else. I only need the audio most times and if I care to see something else footage wise that's important I'll look at screenshot or other forms to get the higher quality or just play the game myself when available anyway.
Surprising people that I use the Wii U Gamepad while someone is playing a game on another console that uses the TV no problem. Using Remote Play on my Vita. People that use the normal aspects of consoles but into core games here by the way just get confused (and don't care of course) and I just do it with a smug look on my face and appreciate the features. I use the Dualshock 4 touchpad when watching DVDs/Blu rays the buttons/remote isn't as fun I must swipe to skip the intros/outros and get straight to the action. XD Use your TV remote controls of standard inputs all you want I will use the unique way to do things instead and have fun doing it. If they let me do it on the console I'm going to use to show I care and prefer it. Not used the Gamepad as a TV remote as don't need to (besides Wii TV or whatever it was called among other apps are gone but still cool it's there if my Wii U is always plugged in but the TV button has not been used on my Gamepad once yet).
Of course Red Steel 2 is better at the later Wii add-on use then Skyward Sword even if the motion controls there are still playable and I never had issues with it once I understood how it did things.
Don't care about marketing (of course it does matter but I usually look at what a console does to sell me on it unlike the mainstream that don't go 'I want to play this game for the mechanics and get this console for hardware gimmicks' like I do) as a gamer and seeing similarly to PC or the DS as I understand the console's goal (I mean of the DS and PCs have splitscreen or dual screen and casting functionality it wasn't that hard for me to not love it done in a console form just like the Wii being like a mouse but didn't and bridging the gap where sticks aren't as great and where gyro has its limitations but no one wants a sensor bar so goodbye IR even though the IR with Brain Age looks cool but I haven't played it) and its strengths and weaknesses I didn't care. Besides another AV/HDMI option console yes please. Even the Wii mode while odd I appreciate they took the time to do that instead of launch the game as while I don't have WiiWare and other things on my Wii the way of going about that on Wii U while possible I see being awkward also even with the amount of VC and Wii U games I have with folders as it is.
The Switch is good but feels like a Turbo Express (Turbo Graphx using it's HuCards on the go), Nomad to the TV (Genesis on the go) or PSP with Wiimotes and with a cable to the TV or a dock like the PSP Go using a Dualshock 3 (the closest you can get to the Switch). So from some point it's a modern version of an idea done before but still unique with the Joycons splitting from a console and the ability to do splitscreen on a handheld (sure tablets/Laptops can have multiple quadrants of windows for any apps and games so it's nothing new there) but for a handheld console it's impressive even though I have never used it still a cool feature like the Wii U's Assymetrical multiplayer compared to 'we can just do online multiplayer so you lose the feature and it's just 5 people and the role may be different but you don't feel it as much'.
Nothing wrong with that in the modern landscape as it's a good idea but it isn't as exciting to me as the Wii U doing literally everything a past Nintendo system can to a degree of the Wii/DS era while the GameCube does the GameCube and handheld Gameboy aspects well with the Gameboy Player.
The DS does dual screens better in Mario Bros DS in caves swap the screen, Phantom Hourglass has the lid closing to imprint the map and Mario Vs. Donkey has two separate videos placing on both screens that's insane. People only cared it was a before smartphone device for training and cooking and classic books but to me in games it was great. I never played Mario Vs. Donkey but the other two were great for it.
So those situations it can't do but still HUD of the screen is appreciated in my book and for RPGs more time out of menus on screen the better unless necessary.
The Wii U games don't have that same dual screen flexibility and the console can't be used with the Web Browser and game at the same time (manuals and games or UA-cam video and game) for example whether power of the system or the way it was structured besides the TV as a priority besides the Gamepad being before the TV to do things straight from the console like Nintendo intended.
So it isn't that possible to go away from your phone but the Xbox Series is there and the Xbox One and Vita games (PS4 you can have a game and web browser but not access the settings, or another app without it being suspended to offer more power to it so it's very limited while the Xbox One was designed for multiple app use just not multiple games use like the Series consoles are. How the Vita can do this with apps and a game to view trophies or a web browser or even the settings app for me to change the brightness for example and not restrict me on 2011 phone hardware and the PS4 can't because it has a different purpose and strictness to view settings is just annoying) have apps and games work though Minecraft Vita on the latest update does use so much the Vita can't have other apps open to use so that sucks but most Vita games allow switching and the Xbox One doing multiple apps also like a phone and games now with the used up storage to allow it (digital games though) is impressive stuff.
It's closer to a PC/Smartphone allowing that functionality already but in the console controlled space and for multiple games working. The fact all games need to be able to sucks as Indies should be able to run doing these things as they don't use a lot of the hardware but it is up to the code/hardware structure after all talking so not surprised.
I mean if you had the Wii U be like the Vita with Remote Play but instead the console and tablet can have the same game put into it it would be cool but also a case of 'why would I want both' confusion for sure (of course the Dock solves this but still if you wanted one or both then it's possible but expensive for two forms of the same hardware) even if you have your console and handheld playing the same game not casting it like Remote Play does.
But Off TV Play is good on Wii U as the same thing for sure with games that do offer it to move menus around to what other versions of games look like that aren't Dual Screen required. The open development plans made sense then forcing it but still a thing I feel most didn't get when it should have been clear with the DS what to expect even if you don't cast the DS to the TV (or as a third screen) even though possible with other means but still.

A few days ago I started to play with my Wii U again and yes, I wish it was a little more powerful graphically wise but I damn love how the gamepad was a game changer for me. Is something that the switch kinda have but not at the extension of the gamepad since it has the second screen.
Game and wario is a real showcase of the gameplay potential the console had but it was only exploited by few games as splatoon, Pikmin 3, Mario maker and xenoblade X.
And of course, not even mentioning it can play the best Zelda of all time. I even suspect the game was downgraded gameplay wise on the Wii U (I cannot use the map on the gamepad, and it only use the gyroscope like the switch)

I'm going to be honest I dont really like the switch I kinda regret buying my. like 70 %of the game library is ports and that's wired I'm not against ports but it's supposed to be a new Nintendo and we're getting games from yesterday old games I want something new and exciting and I hate that the virtual console is gone I don't know what there doing this online service isn't really neat it sounded cool at first but they hardly add super Nintendo games and we don't even know if we're getting any other systems to play for the service. maybe someday I will like the switch but after this year 2020 they really need to step there game up
