I love how well you understand your subject matter to know that Delia would have a large window in the bathroom. I was laughing, thinking, “Yeah, she would do that!” That was perfect!
Yeah, they never seemed to see eye-to-eye in the movie. Lydia probably requested a black room and got purple with green floors instead with lots of little flowers on the wall. Seems like something Delia would do😆
I love your enthusiasm for the Beetlejuice house. You really seem to enjoy the bright colors and finding ways of coping with the odd angles. I appreciate you sharing your oops with the viewers; it makes me feel better about my own and it’s a great reminder that there’s a solution.
I love how Lydia's room is coming along! Its so cool! The bathroom is so much fun too! I CANT wait for Beetlegust to start! I cant wait to see Juno's office!
When decoupaging, spray the paper with water and let it relax. Then apply it to your glued surface. That helps a lot with the bubbles. I love the room. It really is quite pretty.
Oh thank you for the tip! How long do you let it relax for? Do you let it dry completely before adding it to the surface? I am up for any suggestions that help with bubbles!
@@BentleyHouseMinis I spray it with water and watch it relax. It will curl up and then it should start to flatten. When it is flat that is when I put it on. It needs to still be damp when you apply it. Just practice with some scraps first, and remember damp not wet.
Alternatively a glue that isn't water-based, like fabric glue. Fabritac is great for paper on paper and can be thinned with acetone, plus you can *erase* glue that squishes out when it's nearly dry. But it also stinks so may not be for everyone.
It's such a cool looking room. In the movie my eye always goes to the paneling and the bed and I never really noticed the floor was green. Thanks for the providing the wallpaper. I was planning to do a little girl's room in lavender and white and this would be quite useful.
It looks fantastic! I love all the little details you have added. They make it look more real. I do junk journals and I'm always gluing paper to something. I found that using a square bone folder to go over the piece that I glued down, helps spread the glue evenly. It also get the glue to the edge better. I have a friend who uses a brayer roller to spread the glue evenly. I don't know how you make sure that the mod pog is evenly spread on the bottom. Spreading the glue over the top, well, that's different. LOL I'm not being critical, there's always things that don't go the way you want them to go. I just wanted you to know what works for me.
I am always up for any tips that will make the paper go on smoother! I don't have a bone folder but I just might need to get one to help smooth things out. I always use my fingers but I miss spots! Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed it!
@@BentleyHouseMinis I suspect that an old credit card would work well for spreading the Mod Podge. Edit: I don't know if the relatively sharp edge of a credit card might catch on the damp paper. The edge might require rounding slightly, with some fine sandpaper temporarily glued to a flat surface (a sheet of glass works well for that).
🌱💜🌱Following your projects is always interesting.🌱💜🌱 The Beetlejuice house project particularly interests me because I LOVE that movie. In recent months, analyzing Lydia's room, I formulated my hypothesis: that the vivid and different colors from the rest of the house could be a symbol of her being an outsider in that world. We find similar colors in the afterlife, as if to remember the connection of lydia with the Neitherworld.👻 And the floral pattern on the walls could be an easter-egg that recalls the country style of the Maitlands, which suggests Lydia's sweetness and evolution at the end as the "couple's adopted daughter".💐
I love your analysis of Lydia's room! I can totally see all of that and I think its great to connect her in that way to the Maitlands who end up being better parents for her❤️

So Amazingly Awesome!!! Love how her room came out the walls, the floor. I am not a fan of purple nor green, but I don't dislike them and somehow they compliment each other in this case. I should of watched this yesterday, but I was working and learning my new laser cutter and I definitely did not do small practice cuts, yes I did find settings that work for different materials if I can remember them, should probably write those down😂 and will certainly need more wood after all those attempts. 😂 leason learned. But I competed two cute lil kits. Very simple but fun shelves. I'm learning to crawl before I walk😂😅 I would love to see a video on the magnet walls, because it's so brilliant you may have created something there my friend. And I may need to make one or two for the retro room box since I will be modifying it's shape. Loved it all as always, and was super fun to get back to the BJH. ❤🥰
I have a whole post-it of settings for different materials that sits next to my computer😆 They get saved in the computer but if something ever happens (or re-sets) they are a huge pain in the but to rework out. I hope you get it all figured out soon, I can't wait to see what you make! I think I will be able to get the magnet wall video up soon as I already have all the footage, just need to put it all into one cohesive video. Should be a good reference for people! Thank you Jolene!
Hi Ara, it's been a long time. I had to give up my craft room for the grand kids to move in for a bit , but I'm back to crafting now. I love what you are doing with the house. As always. You do awesome work. ♡ Teresa from Texas
This is soooooo fabulous! I had no idea her room was purple, but it’s my favorite color so yeahh!! I think u should keep the pillar/post thingy-that screams Beetlejuice!(to me at least)💜💜
I had a green painted floor when I was young, and it brought me so much joy! I love Lydia's room 💚 It's my current favorite in the house! Im so excited to see what you're gonna do with the attic
Beautiful work! It seems like yesterday you were making the cardboard mini pre-house to map it out! Wow you should do a “so far” update in Beetlegust! I’d love to see that!
I think that is a great idea to do some kind of summary. I can see this has somewhat of a 'half way' point and it might be interesting to hear my thoughts on the process so far? I still use that little cardboard house as reference so I don't regret that at all!
Yeah! It would be cool to see how/if any “big” plans have been adjusted from just deciding to or from necessity. Like your original vision vs how it’s going. I know you’ve had issues mostly with the warping foamcore, but also you’ve had fun things like the staircase. I love the midway recap!
One thing I do when covering boxes with paper that is thin and tends to form bubbles is that I work with glue stick (apply to the surface you will glue the paper thinly and watch for small pieces of loose glue that may be around and create bumps) or most likely use double sided tape. I place the tape on the surface and remove it while I glue the paper instead of taking the backing all at once and then laying the paper. Removing a bit at a time prevents me from glue it to the wrong spot before it is due (not sure if it makes sense but sometimes the paper bends and glues to the wrong spot). Something that also helps to glue is to not use my bare fingers to help smoothing while working but use gloves. I just grab my winter knit gloves and it cushions the fingers and helps not to leave grease or sweat stains on the paper surface and smooths the surface better. I also use that while working with contact/plastic adhesive.
Wallpaper is awesome, I love it!! Thank you Ara for the free download of it! You are so generous with your community. Lydia's room is so wonderful, very nice job as always!!!
Really enjoy watching how you put things together and how you pay attention to the tiniest details! Lydia's room is perfect and the large window in the bathroom is also a perfect idea!
I just bought some spray adhesive from Elmer's brand, and it seems to not give that wrinkle in paper like other products do. I highly recommend it ❤ I love all the purple in her room ❤❤
Thank you for the recommendation! I don't have much experience with spray glue as I have a hard time with the fumes but it may be worth it occasionally for a flat bit of wallpaper😁
@BentleyHouseMinis You're welcome! It's been working great for wallpaper so far! I used it to add scrapbook paper to cereal box walls & it's not showing any signs of wrinkles after about a week. It was my first time trying it, and I was happy with the results. It's called "craft bond spray" by Elmer's. I will say...the smell is a bit strong & I had a sticky desk 😅 because I sprayed it without covering things... but it could be worth it for certain projects. I thought I'd give it a shot and see how long it will hold up :)
I’m looking forward to this school year. I’ve retired so I will have more time to, finally, be creative! Well, creative just for me, not as examples for my students, lol. I will finally unbox that cricut the hubs got me 2 birthdays ago and start buying some of your kits! But first, the studio clean-up! I’m so excited for October! I will be making Burton inspired Christmas ornaments for my oldest and teacup dioramas for my youngest. Always working on the dollhouse for the grandson. If you need any homeschool help, let me know. I’ve got great elementary music programs.
Happy retirement!! That's so exciting to know you will have so many more hours in the day to create and make things for your family! Thank you for the offer of help! We plan to take it slow and add a few things at a time as we get started. I am feeling very positive about it😊
So I got my first bottle of modge podge last week, and hadn't tried it until I saw this video. After some experimenting, due to Ara telling about the bubbling, I came to a conclusion; The best way to apply modge podge is wet-wet-wet. You brush on a layer of mp to the area where you want to attach paper. You coat the underside of the paper with mp, and smooth out any bumps. right after having the paper attached, while mp is still wet, you put on a sealant layer. All 3 layers of mp will dry at the same time, and it will dry smooth. I tested every possible method I could think of to attach the paper and this was the only way I had zero bubbles or bumps. I used this technique to make a deck of cards, and had no issues what so ever. Wet-wet-dry did cause some bubbling, even after the modge podge had dried several hours before sealing. The only version that didn't bubble, was wet on wet on wet.
Thank you for the suggestion! I am thinking about making a 'best wall paper application techniques' video so I will add this to the list of things to test out😊
@@BentleyHouseMinis thank you for pointing it out. Had you not said anything about it, I would have just put on one layer and let it dry before sealing and my cards would have been great for "bubble bubble toil and trouble.." :DD Now they are actually neat enough to give as an engagement present
Are you going to do Beetlegust this year again? That was great! It oooks amazing, Ara. Warm wishes from Minnesota! ❤️❤️❤️ May your pencils always be sharp and your colors never bleed.
@BentleyHouseMinis, thank you for the emphasis on lung safety in your review of the Creality laser cutter. I note that the enclosure is red. In the makerspace I was going to for a while, the infrared laser cutter required the wearing of special safety glasses. Infrared lasers are invisible and will burn out your retina in a split second. They also had to do a lot of work for filtering the exhaust gases and particulates. Certain materials are not suited to laser cutting because of either flammability or the sheer toxicity of the fumes. Edit: correct typos.
Safety around these machines is super important to me. They can cause a lot of problems if they are not vented or used properly. I am so glad your makerspace is taking that seriously as well!
Maybe the column can be split in half and glued under the window as a kind of window seat/planter? This way it shows when the wall is attached but it makes space available when it is not
I might try to cast half of it because I am afraid I would destroy it trying to cut it in half. It would definitely make that wall segment more interesting!

I love Lydia’s room! And I do appreciate your including the occasional error you make, it helps a ton for me, a total amateur just trying to figure things out.
I make so many errors as I go along so I am happy to share when I can. Problem solving is a big part of the miniature making journey ;) I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Omg I love this house 🤗
Wow, the color mix is quite out there! I absolutely love the detail you put in with the wallpaper and the wall panels. I'm also amazed how everything fits in the end! Amazing job as usual! Thanks so much for posting!
Thank you Phil!! I think the lighting will really bring it all together and set the mood. Its the room I am most excited to get lit up! So glad you enjoyed it😊
Lydia's room looks awesome
Thank you!
I must say you are so talented and amazing.😊
You have really taught the miniature/doll community so much.👏🌼😊👍
Aw thank you!! The community has taught me a lot too!!
@@BentleyHouseMinis I have to say I adore your channel.😊
I cannot believe how talented you are it amazes me.👍👏🌼
Thank You for all that you share, show and teach. Greatly Appreciated!😊👏💚
I love it, purple is my favorite color...but I don't think it's good for walls in real life...but damn is proving me wrong with how pretty it's.
Thank you!! It would be interesting to actually stand in a room that is this purple. It's a lot lol!
The room looks great! I never realized the room in the movie was so colorful, but it really does work. Wonderful job!
Thank you Pamela😊 I didn't realize it was so colorful at first either!
“That darned 1/8th inch!” said every crafter ever! 😂
Thank you for sharing. Your videos are a joy. 😊💝
Haha right? Why is it always an 1/8" inch?
So glad to see u getting to create a video! Love all your imagination ideas! Wow!! Lydia's room looks super cool!! Great creation!!
Thanks so much! 😊
I'm learning to crawl before I walk😂😅
I would love to see a video on the magnet walls, because it's so brilliant you may have created something there my friend.
I just love your videos...so inspiring!!!
Aw thank you so much!😊
You did great! It was painful but, in the end, it came out so good!
That looks amazing!❤
Impressive and fun.
Thank you!
Hi Ara, it's been a long time. I had to give up my craft room for the grand kids to move in for a bit , but I'm back to crafting now. I love what you are doing with the house. As always. You do awesome work. ♡ Teresa from Texas
Hi Teresa! It's great to hear from you. I am sure they were very thankful to have a place when they needed it❤️ Welcome back to the mini world!
Looks amazing..love the colours..xx ❤ UK 🇬🇧
Thank you!
This is soooooo fabulous! I had no idea her room was purple, but it’s my favorite color so yeahh!! I think u should keep the pillar/post thingy-that screams Beetlejuice!(to me at least)💜💜
🎉arghhh blooming missed this earlier cleaning my bathroom I know which I'd enjoy more 😊
🎉I wish my bathroom was as small as yours lmao 🤣 🎉
😆 Yes this one is teeny tiny and makes for easy upkeep!
@@BentleyHouseMinis lol cute though x
Your patience with troubleshooting never ceases to amaze, Ara. It's really coming together!!
Thank you Meghan! It's a big part of the process so I am glad to show it when I can😊
Nice Ara 💖💖💖💖
Thank you!
Im so glad this project is back i have missed it 🖤
Me too! I am excited to get back into the Netherworld part of it soon!
I had a green painted floor when I was young, and it brought me so much joy! I love Lydia's room 💚 It's my current favorite in the house! Im so excited to see what you're gonna do with the attic
That sounds amazing! I have thought about painting the floor out in my second studio (it's concrete). I wonder if I should go for green😆 Thank you!
@@BentleyHouseMinis Yes, it was painted concrete!! I say go for it 💚💚💚
Aaah, next month is beetlegust. My favourite month!
Edit: beetlegust-tember? Even better.
🥳🥳
Beautiful, Ara. Well done. This project is looking great
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for the tips on applying paper! I am always up for new ideas and techniques to get a nice finish❤️
Wallpaper is awesome, I love it!! Thank you Ara for the free download of it! You are so generous with your community. Lydia's room is so wonderful, very nice job as always!!!
I am so glad you like it!! I hope you can use it somewhere fun in your own projects😊
Really enjoy watching how you put things together and how you pay attention to the tiniest details! Lydia's room is perfect and the large window in the bathroom is also a perfect idea!
Thank you Nicki! I am constantly surprised by how many details the set designers snuck into each room of the house. I am always finding something new😆
Thanks for all the great info! It’s looking so gooood!!❤❤❤
😊 Thank you!! I can't wait to get the lighting in there as I know that will add a lot too!
Great work. Love the Lydia room!
Thank you!!
I love the wallpaper!!! I would love it in my own bedroom!
The removable wall looks fantastic!❤
Thank you Nancy! 💜💜
Fantastic! Thank you Ara!
Can't wait for Beetlegust!
Lisa
Same! I am planning things now! Thanks Lisa😊
@@BentleyHouseMinis Yes! It's always so much fun! It's such a wonderfully wild and wacky, super cool project! Very inspirational!

After some experimenting, due to Ara telling about the bubbling, I came to a conclusion;
The best way to apply modge podge is wet-wet-wet.
Had you not said anything about it, I would have just put on one layer and let it dry before sealing and my cards would have been great for "bubble bubble toil and trouble.." :DD
Now they are actually neat enough to give as an engagement present
This is turning out great! But I can't wait for the new movie in September
Me too! I will be seeing it in theaters asap!
Looking forward to Beetle-gust!!!
Me too!!
Are you going to do Beetlegust this year again? That was great! It oooks amazing, Ara. Warm wishes from Minnesota! ❤️❤️❤️ May your pencils always be sharp and your colors never bleed.
Yes, I am planning it right now and I am very excited! Thank you for the crafty well wishes😊
What a great room!!!!
Thank you my friend!
Amazing room
Maybe the column can be split in half and glued under the window as a kind of window seat/planter? This way it shows when the wall is attached but it makes space available when it is not
I might try to cast half of it because I am afraid I would destroy it trying to cut it in half. It would definitely make that wall segment more interesting!
❤❤❤
You are by far my favourite youtuber. Your demeanour and your energy just puts me in a good mood. Just thought I'd throw it out there :)
Wow, thank you❤️❤️ That means a lot to me!
Yay! More videos! You're the best Ara! Did you happen to see the new Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice trailer that was just released?? I assume you're a busy person, but I saw it and thought of you and the channel. 🐞🍹
Yes I did!! I am SO SO excited! I am glad they are still keeping the same feel (so it seems) and some of the weird claymation looking animations!
I enjoy watching the construction portions of your videos showing the successes and failures! I (we) learn so much from both. I'm considering your magnetic wall technique for a project I'm working on. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks, 🤣! Thanks for sharing!
I hope the magnetic walls work well for your project! I am glad we can all learn together😊 Thanks Bev!
Love love it thanks Ara always so excited to see what u make
Thanks so much Sharon😊
How delightfully creepy! I was so happy to see this video after watching the trailer for the sequel to Beatlejuice movie❤
I am so SO excited for the movie! It seems like they are trying really hard to keep the sequel with the same feel as the first!
