Back when we were recording Welcome To Mali, Damon Albarn came to visit us in Bamako. This started a new creative process for us as we were used to composing each on our own side. With Sabali, we all came together. We have wonderful memories of this collaboration.

When I heard this song on Elite Season 4 Ep.3 I immediately knew I heard the song already but I cant recall the title. I researched and got here! p.s. turns out I first heard the sample from Maroon 5's "Wipe your eyes"
Thanks to Leon Kocharian, I could feel happy again. This reminds me of him. He died in the summer of 2022 and this was his favourite song, whenever I went over to his place he'd have this on. He grew up in an Armenian household with a strict diet of music, listening only to classical music. Knowing that this was a relief to that kind of lifestyle, has always, will always, and must always be something deeply meaningul to me. When he went to Armenia he called me on the plane and said he'd listen to this ATLEAST 4 times... he died in an Azerbijani bombing in Yerevan. Rest In Peace. Loved you bro.
I just tattooed the word “sabali” on me. Truly a word that means a lot to me at this point in my life, with my art my music, my children, my job. I’ve accomplished a lot this year but sabali is something that kept popping up in my head through my courses. Be blessed everyone! AMADOU ET MARIAM are great icons representing an entire continent, specifically in Mali. You feel their music without even understanding a word. By the way I'm from Mali, Sabali means tolerance. Sometimes it can mean patience or forgiveness. She means when you are in a relationship you should tolerate each other.
It so unfortunate how this word has disappeared from the African continent. And that's one of the reasons for the conflicts in every part of mother Africa.
