My black shark attacked my albino Oscar and on both sides almost the same injuries as your gourami. Right down to the flesh. He's making a full recovery now though the skin has grown back but still waiting for the scales to grow back before he goes back to the community pond.. it was bad luckily he didn't go into shock. But I did have to deal with fungus on the wound, but a lot of water changes, salt, melafix and pimafix,to prevent bacterial infections... Fish can be a lot of drama LOL never no what to expect
Thank you for this. Yes, aggressive fish like black shark are hard to house and require constant vigilance. I usually don't treat such wounds but clean water and no stress are enough 99% of the time.
@@Fish-Story As they grow larger and older they tend to be more aggressive but some become peaceful. Depends on the temperament of the particular fish.
Mad, bless her heart hopefully she can be reintroduced with time

Oh what a pain
I have six GGs
Mostly in separate tanks
They must be separated in smaller tanks for sure, like 240 gal and such.
Poor thing hope she gets better move the male out
This is a problem I also face with Giant Gourami. They are always hostile towards their own kind. Could never put them both in the same aquarium
In a small tank yes. This is the 1st time in our 4500 gal in 8 years running.

Have you noted a gender factor too or not?
@@Fish-Story
Can't really identify. What are the usually gender incompatibility issues?
Sorry, too curt. Have you noticed that those that become more peaceful with age are the females by chance or not only?
