Bravo! Bravissimo!!! I'm suprised, but also glad and excited that there are young people like you who remember one of the most remarkable progressive rock bands from the 1970ies!
Only 8 people know about Renaissance? Well, from your generation I suppose that could be true. I'm pretty sure there were far more than 8 people in the audience when I saw them in 1982 (I was a bit late to discover them even back in 1980!). Anyway, good job at figuring out this piece with no help whatsoever. And hey, your "creative liberties" are what make this interpretation your own. Bravo!
Hah hah.... I saw them several times in 82...around Philly and NJ, and NY, in tiny venues to my amazement..... but I knew and loved them when this came out in 72 (played the grooves off this album).... but later discovered barely 8 people, outside select places in the US, that knew and loved them.... In Europe and Great Britain, they got the attention they deserved.
I, too, only discovered Renaissance in 1981 and their albums quickly became a fixture in my life's soundtrack. A friend's brother was pals with the band's drummer and arranged for them to perform "Carpet of the Sun" at my friend's wedding in NYC while the band was there for the Carnegie Hall event. Solid performance, Alec!!
Outstanding, I've been cracking my head over learning this by ear, you just helped me a lot. Your arrange is very clear. I'll try it out asap. Congratulations, you nailed it!
Thank you so much! Sorry the first few seconds got cut off. At some point I want to upload a more clear video showing exactly how I play it, so if I get around to that I hope it helps!
This makes my day thank you :) I have the biggest smile glued on my face haha. Would you know if the part at 3:30 is inspired from a classical piece, if so which one ? I can swear I've heard it before. Also, I feel like Renaissance is music that is a secret treasure that no one knows about, glad you found a piece of the treasure too. Again, thanks for sharing this !

Well done Alec, not easy without the score but you nailed it. Keep up the good work, you have the touch

Bravo! Bravissimo!!! I'm suprised, but also glad and excited that there are young people like you who remember one of the most remarkable progressive rock bands from the 1970ies!

@@maranger123 Jon Tout, the Renaissance keyboardist uses many classical references in his parts. Check the "Running Hard" intro, for example.
