Watching your videos about Antarctica makes be tear up. I got back from Antarctica in December 2019 after having been a part of the first high school student group in North America to travel there. There's no way I can describe our adventure other than a life changing experience. It wasn't only the marvellous landscapes and the abundant wildlife that has made me so attached to Antarctica, it was the people we met on our ship, the stories we heard, and the stories we have. Antarctica was a big step for me in regards to overcoming fear. It was both the longest and farthest I have been from my home. I also have a deathly phobia of throwing up and was even considering not going on the trip because of the Drake. It took courage for all of us to wave goodbye to our parents at the gate, but we did it anyway because we knew we were in for the adventure of a lifetime. After coming back from Antarctica I feel like I can do anything. Due to the fact that I overcame so many fears on that trip, and I did it alongside my wonderful group of friends, I am not scared of anything anymore. My love for adventure as well as my excitement about the future has grown immensely because of the expedition. I’ve started planning things like trips with my step dad up to Alaska in our tiny tin boat. That idea was shot down pretty quick, but the sense of adventure is still there. Along with this, I have also become a lot more grateful and feel a lot more fulfilled in my life. The other day my friends asked, “If you were to die right now, would you feel satisfied?” They were all quick to reply with “no,” saying they felt they had not accomplished all they wanted to accomplish yet. For me, after coming back from Antarctica, one of the best experiences of my life, my reply was simply “yes.” Even though I am only seventeen, I would feel satisfied with my life if I were to die now because I’ve had a pretty epic life. Before the opportunity to go to Antarctica arose, I saw it as a place I would never get to visit, an unattainable dream. When I first saw the poster on the wall at school, a photo of a man surrounded by massive icebergs and kayaking alongside a humpback whale with bold white letters across the top that read: ANTARCTICA, my immediate reaction was doubt. I didn’t believe there was enough money to send me to the other side of the world and even if there was, I didn’t believe I had enough bravery to do it. But there was something that day, a sliver of hope that made me take down the poster and stuff it in my backpack. Even once the unattainable dream became a reality and we were gearing up to go on the trip that was mere weeks away, I didn’t fully realize how Antarctica would impact me. I still saw it as simply an “awesome place to visit.” It was not until I was actually in Antarctica, surrounded by my newfound friends and the same massive icebergs I had seen on the poster a year earlier that I realized it was so much more than just “a place to visit.” It was a place that brought about growth and connection and love like I have never known before. As Apsley Cherry-Garrard, a historic Antarctic explorer once said, “In Antarctica you get to know people so well that in comparison you do not seem to know the people in civilisation at all.” I was humbled and amazed by Antarctica and its ability to, in some way, change the life of every single person who goes down there. In fact, I found one must be warned before travelling to Antarctica, as it comes with a slew of unanticipated features such as newfound bravery, uncontrollable laughter, exhaustion, exhilaration, seasickness, peace of mind, inspiration, lifelong friendships, difficult goodbyes, and the forever yearning to go back. Sorry for the long message! I basically just wanted to say you did a wonderful job of catching the essence of Antarctica in your videos. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Thank you all for the love on this vlog! It's definitely one of our favorites we've ever made, so we're glad the feeling is mutual :) There are a couple FAQs in this comment section, so I thought I'd post the answers here for anyone else wondering!! - 1 Q: How did you fly your drone in Antarctica when it's illegal there? A: IAATO requires you to have a drone license in order to fly it legally (they make ALL the rules to protect Antarctica!). Thankfully, one guide on our ship had the license and let us use the footage he got of our trip! So any drone footage in this series is thanks to him. You find the link to his instagram in the description. 2 Q: Why did you have to disinfect your boots? A: We stepped in the pink disinfectant both when leaving and getting back on the ship. This is for multiple reasons. We visited a new island or part of the continent everyday, and so disinfecting on the way out was to prevent cross contaminating between places, and also so we didn't bring anything from the ship onto land via our boots. Then when embarking, we cleaned our boots mainly to get the penguin poop off 😂 Hope this helps! ❤

Two moms with calves trying to avoid big ol male who breached, spun, danced, slapped tail...RIGHT next to our boat. it wasn’t scary...it was transformative, otherworldly and an experience I will savor all my life. you bet I cried!
This video is filling me with joy! My eyes are welling up because I'm so happy to see and hear what you're experiencing!!
Hannah Mann same!!!
I really love the reverence and quiet while out seeing the animals. Those cold quiet moments seem so special.
The penguins noises...I just can't 😍😍😍 one of your best vlogs ever. I also started crying when Kara cried😂 we all have to do our best to preserve all these animals and their habitat.
And that rare sight of that wildlife Nate...impressing
agree. they sound as cute as they look. 😍
I died at 17:22 when Nate imitated a seal😂❤
jyoti saaaame!!!
7:23 Penguins be like "smile and wave boys smile and wave"
I found your videos a month ago and LOVE them. My mom has dementia and I showed her one video and she LOVED it. I now watch a video a night with her. Tonight we watched this and I also cried with the whales!! God has given my mom and I a special time watching your videos together. Thank you. PS--i lived in Kyrgyzstan and adopted my daughter from there.
Awesome story tami God bless you and your mother!!!!
In December I also went to Antarctica and it was also my 7th continent. Watching this video just makes me want to go back. It was one of the best holidays I have ever been on.
Everytime I watch one of your videos (especially this kind) I find myself grinning from ear to ear without even realizing it! Thank you, Kara and Nate, for taking us on yet another adventure that most of us will never get to do. These videos are the next best thing, and you guys are the best!!
Much love sent to you, wherever you are right now. Stay safe and God Bless you both!!
The amount of comments in 1 minute shows the power of Kara and Nate
also shows the power of people not watching videos before commenting, hence making irrelevant comments/making the same comments on every single video.
Kara and Nate, absolutely loved the footage of penguins and seals on Robert Island. So professional I half expected Sir David Attenborough to pop up and start talking!
😁❤️
Watching this made me so emotional. It was almost like I was experiencing it with you guys! Never thought I would consider taking such a beautiful trip to Antarctica!
,h
the excitement of kara seeing the whale is filled with so much love
This video just blew my mind! That's incredible!! You guys are the best!! The fact that you still post videos after the 100th country target is so special for me. I take it like a bonus! Can't wait to see more from Antarctica!
This is one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever watched on UA-cam! Thank you for this experience ❤️ I cried with you!
Penguins with afro....now, I've seen everything! 😂😂
I know that’s right I have never seen that at the zoo. Amazing footage.
this makes me seriously want to travel to Antarctica
Need shit loads or bucks and physical strength too
@@wheeloflife17 20k according to the website...
20k is what i make in 4 years working continously dude..
@Sofia Diane For this particular tour is goes up as much as 32k and as low as 8k depending on the date and room you choose. Nate and Karas penthouse was 20k. Link in the description, its ridiculous how much it is but worth it if you can manage the funds.
Fortress Anfield 2 more wins. YNWA
Yout two are honestly my favorite people on the internet!! Every one of your videos just gives me a bigger urge to go out and explore! THANKS FOR THAT!

That is some of the most amazing film footage I've ever seen. I was actually in tears watching the whales. I can't imagine what it was like to see them in person. And the penguins! By the way, love Kara's Pillsbury Doughboy fashion statement for surviving the cold.
Antarctica has been on my bucket list ever since I read “The Coldest March: Scott's Fatal Antarctic Expedition.” This is a must read for anyone interested in history and exploration! You will not be disappointed.
Oh my word what an amazing feeling beeing so close to the whales❤❤ Kara and Nate you are so blessed with your travelling experiences! You two could quite easily work for National Geographic! Love you guys ❤❤

I found your utube channel last month, watching more online videos with being indoors due to Covid. You have given me hours and hours of enjoyment. As I watched this video I was thinking what it will be like for you to look back at this trip when you are in your 70's. Truly amazing, thank you for sharing your adventures..
Your last first experience of touching foot on a new continent❤️ What an amazing experience! You are so lucky to enjoy each other’s adventures as much as you are enjoying your own. Thank you for taking us with you.

Wonderful. Simply wonderful. You two are professionals. Narrating, photographing, editing, setting the mood, sound. Everything.
This is basically a National Geographic documentary and I love it 🥰
I'm watching this, sipping my own morning cup of coffee, and am just in awe of how beautiful these extreme regions of the world can be. ❤️❤️❤️

Seeing you both get ready in the morning in a room much more spacious than your typical living arrangements. Y’all stood side by side, back to back just like you were in the van! So funny 😂
