Well done Dave that machine should be ok for years now. I was surprised that the tape guide pin worked it's way out. I've not seen it often over the years. Now a question: What brand of toilet rolls give the most reliable result :-D . T.v adverts for Androx showed puppy's with toilet rolls. Maybe use them then shoe them away to an unexpecting new owner :).
Unfortunately these didn't have line TBCs which seems odd for Sony to omit in their flagship machine, so they'll often show the warped/flagging top picture. You can use an external one, but it would have been a lot nicer if it just had one built in like the high end JVCs.
What would be the Sony's equivalent of JVC's line TBC/DNR ? Does this deck have some sort of digital picture stabilization? Thanks for the spring setup tip, I would have never known about it.
One way to slow down the curing of CA glue is to store it in a baggie with a silica gel pack. They sell nice ~50g tins with the indicator crystals on Amazon. CA glue cures with moisture, but even an unopened container still has a shelf life and will cure. But the silica gel will slow it down, at least.
Perhaps led but not LCD. LCD sets that use ccfl consume much more power than plasma. Only if you put up a full white screen. Average power on mine perhaps 100 watts. My old 46 Sony LCD draws more like 375
like Wilson on Tim Allan's program home improvement I don't think we have seen your face yet. So I would pass you on the street and not ask you about my tape deck
I have been in camera and my profile had a picture of me standing by my UA-cam play button. Plus people find my Facebook page. I walk into either of the electronics parts shops and get recognized all the time. Many just say hi, or tell me they like my channel. This was the first time someone approached me while I was having lunch and sat at my table.
I used sewing needles to unclog super glue nozzles. I also store the tube nozzle side up. I don't know if it helps or not.
Great repair on the VCR!
That guy you told to p off at lunch time that day was me... joking. Great video!
Nice repair, Sony makes great product's
I’m a technical as well and I do over 15 phones a day and I love your videos 😊
@@ACommenterOnUA-cam Nope, a phone is quite a bit better than a VCR. 😏
But a phone won't play your old tapes.

The same joint breakage is happens on the 711B3 chassis.
Same as front loader, and on the mode motor.

This model doesn't have the cap problems in the Pre-amp. ?
Try storing your crazy glue in the fridge. It may stop it clogging.
Regarding the automatic head cleaning arm, suggest replacing the foam ring with a fingernail.
I did! Off camera as the head was completely clogged.

I have lots of dissivant packs at work.
Bad thing about Plasma is they use sooo much more power than LCD and crt displays

Mine was $5 and I have a spare blue gear.
How do you know all this shit ?...…amazing never even lose a screw.
Fixing this crap for 40+ years helps.
I know that power supply!
Unfortunately!

Impedance rollers are sticking. Just sayin' 😁
Many VCRs don't even have them. No big deal.
