Thank you for video . Bought a Foxwell nt530 and just performed the reset on a 2016 GLC-300 . Burned up the previous battery after only 8 months of overcharging . Just replaced battery with a NAPA agm. Went from charging at 14.9 volts to 14.3 volts immediately . Service manager at Mercedes dealer blatantly gave incorrect informaton regarding battery registration ! I hope the universe rewards you 1000 times for your good deed putting out this video.

Awesome video just purchased my foxwell nt530 from amazon. I bought a new battery Odyssey Performance back in July 2022 for my 2016 E400 I wasn't aware had to register. Brought my car in to the Mercedes dealership and made them aware of the battery replacement. They didn't say anything or did anything reference the battery. Soon as I get my scanner will immediately register my battery. Hope I'm not too late for that. 😳
crazy, my porsche was super intuitive to reset the battery service with my icarsoft scanner. I'd have never found this and im about to replace the battery in our GLC43 because we're getting the battery starter notification when we start the car now.
great video! Check your local battery plus store or advance auto parts - they might be able to register new battery when you buy it from them. Also there are cheaper alternatives in 2024 now like 2024 LAUNCH X431 Elite for Mercedes-Benz ($120 after coupon) that do a better job allowing you not only register a battery but also change parameters.
Did you check if the "Electric Charge Throughput" was actually set to 0.00Ah? It was 4215.20Ah when you started, but if you went back in the menu, it should have updated to 0.00Ah. You didn't show it. If it doesn't reset it, then you did nothing. I just tried with the same NT530 on my 2020 GLC300, and it is not resetting it.
I have a glc 43 2016 the original battery lasted 3 yers 2nd battery varta 2 years and now the 3rd bosch is dead after 9 months... i have the same engime in a gle 450 and that thing has a original 92ah battery. There is space for a 80ah battery in the compartment when they changed the second battery they were able to put im the Amp houtrs on a more advanced diagnostic tool do you think you can doo it on your?
Had the same timeline issue as you with batteries. Registering the battery is a priority . I am convinced the dealership does not want to provide this info . How many people will turn in a vehicle after 4 years thinking their electrical system is malfunctioning .
that foxwell obd tool is not cheap specially for an amateur car fixer like myself which will only use it a handful of times. they seem to run around $170 ish. is there an alternate way to register new battery?
Yes, I hear you. Can’t remember what I paid but my generic reader would not access the reset feature. I know places like advance auto let you borrow their scanners but not sure if they can access the feature. So far I’ve done two now so my cost is half!
If you own a Mercedes, you better not being saying silly things like $170 is too much for a scan tool. If so, you should never ever own an old Mercedes because you're just too damn poor to pay for upkeep.

I was looking at innova machines. Is there a particular reason you went with the foxwell? Getting a error message saying to stop but keep the engine on. Think it’s time to replace the battery. Also, there seem to be several options for the 18 GLC43. Did you measure your OEM before buying? Want to make sure I get the right one
Got the battery at Napa Auto. Their batteries are highly rated. I gave the counter man the make/model and he did the rest. Perfect fit. As far as Foxwell it was the first one I found specific to Mercedes that had the registration feature.
I do not believe earlier models like yours track battery usage and thus do not require a reset. Do a Google search on this to verify. I have a 2002 slk32 that does not require a batter reset.

When you disconnect the battery they say you loose every function of the car after new one is in how do you avoid that ?

It's only $150. You can use it for so many things to have it pay for itself. Just buy one.
This MB battery charging behavior compromises the battery warranty. It does not make sense. MB is screwing with customers, IMO.
