I'm SO glad I found your channel. Beautiful yo watch, relaxing to listen to, perfect for drifting off to sleep.
What markers are you using? They're brilliant.

Thanks! I'm using Stabilo Point 88. This is the set I have: amzn.to/2w7SF7p - you can also get sets that include neon colours.

Your videos and setup info are great! The only thing that might make the graphs more eye-popping would be if you could draw colors on black paper. I realize this is not possible because the color of the paper beneath the ink would dull the ink color. But, on a computer, for example, the colored ink would completely cover (or carve away) any underlying black (sort of like string art above black velvet). I wonder what it would look like to scan your graphs into a computer and then replace all the white with black. I have a simple question: what adhesive do you use to hold the stationary outer ring to the paper? Great videos! Thanks!

The adhesive is poster putty. It comes in various brand names, such as Hold-It and Blu-tack (which is blue) or just "poster putty". You can get it cheap at any office supply store. It comes off the paper easily and can be reused. The new Spirograph sets come with some, which they call "spiro-putty" but it's just poster putty. Works well.
There are some gel pens that will mark black paper! I've also reversed colour on the computer and it looks awesome. Here are some I did with a Spirograph design and set up on CafePress for t-shirts, magnets etc.: www.cafepress.com/spirographicart/8344191

    The asymmetry is very surprising

I have started doing these wheel-within-a-wheel patterns. initially it looks like chaos and you think hey its all gone pear shaped and then slowly the end result starts to appear. Although the stabilo pens come in a huge variety of colours, the best pens for line uniformity are the sakura sigma micron 05 with archival ink from my experience but they don't come in a huge range of colours. if your gears slip on these WWW patterns then I find it almost impossible to find the position to restart unless you go back to the beginning.

I've used those pens too. I agree about it being hard to get back on track. There are more permutations of possibility with all those teeth!

I have all the pieces to make these patterns. Thanks.

muskndusk Great! It was more by chance than intent, so I'm glad.

Hello, I'm planning to buy one of the sets and here you mentioned that you have all the pieces to make these patterns, can you please tell me which set you got? Thank you very much.

Maggie Moon I have the Full Page Set version 2. On closer inspection I realised that I couldn't do this pattern exactly because Heather is using version 1 in which gear 135 is slightly different.

Oh, that's sad. Well thanks for answering, I think I'm gonna get it anyway I'm in love with this lol

It's well worth it; so much more versatile than Spirograph. You can create weird and wonderful designs of varying sizes. I'm glad I bought it.

my gear 135 looks different to this one it has a hole 63 and I cannot find a gear 45, is there a work around?

The sets of Wild Gears have changed over the years. I have some of the earlier ones. So I don't know. I found these through experimentation. There's no user manual, and I haven't completely figured out the math of these wheel-within-a-wheel patterns. So I just encourage you to experiment with what you have. For me, that's what's fun - I try it and see what I get. If I like it, I embellish it with different holes and colours. It's all experimentation.

Thank you so much for your vids. May I ask what set of wild gears did you use for these patterns? The compact one or the full sheet? Thanks

    • @Spirographicart
      @Spirographicart  7 років тому +2

These gears are bigger than the compact set, so it would be the Full Page Set. The sets change with the different versions as Aaron refines the product. But muskndusk mentioned in a comment below that she has all the pieces to make these patterns, so it's probable that they're all in the Full Page Set.

when is wheel in a wheel in a wheel coming out? I'm pretty sure it's doable.
