My very first MAHI MAHI !!!!

We were chasing reports of Bluefin Tuna reported the last 2 days from 2 separate locations that we would go try. We trolled the area until we came to some lobster pots, trolled through the line and if they looked dirty, or we saw fish on the fishfinder, we pulled the spread and pitched bait, small bucktais and metals at them.
We definitely gave it the old college try but only ended up catching 1 small Mahi on a clarkspoon, but that was the first Mahi I ever caught so I was pretty happy with it.
We then were able to see Dolphin feeding around the pots and they cruised by us and even jumped out of the water to put on a show.
We headed home after 6 hours out there and came upon some fish jumping out of the water so we threw some spoons at them and jigged to see what it was. We ended up with some small bluefish, a fluke that shook off at the boat and a sea robin that didn't make it to the video.
We had fun, enjoyed a nice boat ride out to the deeper water, lucked out with the weather, and will definitely try for them again!
It looked like fun, I’ve heard the mahi were small this year. They grow quickly so maybe in a month the larger ones will be around.. hope to see you out there.
Definitely!!! I will be out there again. Would love to get a nice Mahi to take home and also still looking for that inshore bluefin to hit some gear! Hope to see you out here as well.
