In 2004, a group of people in Hungary has set the goal to start a culinary revolution in their country, with a milestone of entering the Bocuse d'Or final within 10 years.
In 2013, Tamas Széll and his team were the first Hungarians who could reach that goal. Moreover they finished the competition at 10th place, which is the best first participant result ever.

This pretentious over the top presentation decorations are unnecessary. If you need art, go to a museum, Chef's are artists in their food preparation. That's enough stress for them.
Yes, you are right but Bocuse d'Or is not just about taste but also presentation. And artistic presentation is a must. Blame the competition, not the chef :-) Yes, the entire competition is very stressful but there are rules that must be kept. Pretentious? Maybe but it is beautiful and as it is competition it is more for the eye than for the taste.
