Kmart was rather low or reject quality. However, what is interesting is the clear shelled SE60 Gemini was Memorex, but the black shelled MP90 even worse quality than Kmart, which was branded Focal in the 1990s. Still have a few of those, and in spite of poor quality, recording in a tape deck with record level set high will cause distortion, but understandable. You will need to clean the heads every time though.

Thank you. I remember those Gemeni tapes! And you're right, some of those really cheap tapes would shed on the play heads and pinch roller.
