GREAT SHOW ANDI! Just wait Will. Jack will soon be asking for your car keys. Looking forward to Dee’s week at the Helm. I haven’t met any of you but after all these years, we’re one big family. The Vendée gets more exciting every day!
AND I am certainly looking ahead with Dee at the helm. Stunning how 3 boats broke the record of only a few days ago. The new designs are working in these conditions but the Southern Ocean will be the real design test.
I just can’t explain to my non sailing friends how this event is the most extreme sporting event ever. Solo, non stop, a lap around the planet. Life threatening and physically and mentally exhausting. I can’t think of anything sporting more challenging than this race.
Same boat here :). ... Also, the sportsmanship among the skippers and teams, the incredible need for knowledge of so many systems ... I could go on and on. It is beyond incredible and I also get frustrated in getting others to understand.
It would be nice to follow LeCam a little more often as he is the most experienced sailor in the race but also the fact that he has a stretched out arm towards the competition. Thanks for a good show and do focus on the wind/ route strategies as it's very interesting.
Amazing coverage as always from Andi and Dee. Cannot wait for the next instalment. Wishing all the sailors a trouble free transition into the Southern Ocean, may the weather gods keep you safe.
Very interesting explanations with VMG etc. Could you talk a bit about the hull speed? This is probably not valid for foilers but the traditional ones?
Has anyone considered having a race just in the Southern Hemisphere, say from Cape Town to Cape Town. You still cross all the longitudes which I assume is what around the world means. Just jump straight to the fast bits :)
It has been considered, I think they called it the round Antarctica or similar. The difficulty is that the majority of the funding for ocean race teams comes from the northern hemisphere.
i've wondered about this also. all i can think of is that it might detract from the vendee globe which france as the major force in ocean racing would strongly oppose.
I’ve never been there, but as I understand it, the Vendee region is the epicenter of global ocean racing, with year~round activity - boatbuilding, repair, R&D, and multiple races per year. If Cape Town were to develop that infrastructure and zeal, it’d be a really great location for many ocean races, not just the VG. Maybe the Vendee of the southern hemisphere.
@@OCteahead the area that is the epicentre of offshore is Brittany to the North West, but the region does own this race so there is some focus in the area.
Andi - Dee - Will = the dream team! Dell will do great! Super show and I am loving the race coverage - thank you VG team!

Thank you, Andi! Fab show. I enjoy every minute. 🇨🇦
Dee and Andi - the A team of Vendee reporting.
Great to see the new dad, Will, too
Wow. Excellent job today. It’s always well done and much appreciated, but today was especially good.

great show and much better than the french version, thank you!
Will. the next Vendee your son will be 4 years old waving you off the dock. Congratulations.
yeah, that would be awesome!
Great show today. Thanks for doing it and congrats to Will and his new family. Keep it up
This is all so inspirational. I have so much respect for these solo adventurers. That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Fair winds!

Have a great holiday break, Andi!
Andi, have a great vacation…as you said, sun, as ever shining on the righteous. :-) Looking forward to Dee’s watch.

Best to you and your growing family, Will!

Very interesting to follow this unique race, but why is it always so difficult to understand what Samantha Davis is saying?
Good team presentation today. Andy needs Dee to give him some hints on using the big screen...!
Congratulations, Will!
What is a 24hour record based on, can it be any continuous period that gives the maximum distance, or is it a set period, ie midnight to midnight?
Any 24 hour period.
And Violette Dorange nobody is talking about her HELLOOOOOOO not one mention from the start of the race WHAT IS GOING ON HELLO DEE. THANKS❤

I live in Cape Town and wonder why this concept has never been considered.
