- Oh hey! The trailer for My Little Pony: Make Your Mark came out! The special doesn't come out for a couple of weeks but I thought I would do a first impressions video on the trailer since this is our first good look at how generation 5 of My Little Pony is going to look like going forward, at least in its 3D animated series.

Hopefully scrubbing through this trailer while I was recording it isn't too jarring, also, had to edit stills in the middle there a bit because Netflix is really weird about their trailers being used in videos. Thank you all for the support! Can't wait to talk about the special in full when it comes out later this month and also the game! If you're going to be at Momocon or Whinny City Pony Con in a few weeks, I hope to see you there!
One interesting thing I’ve noticed that I haven’t seen other people talking about is that Sparky is born with wings, which is unlike the dragons in FiM that are born wingless and then get them after their molt. It could mean that dragons in G5 have evolved different characteristics since G4 similar to how the wings, horns, and hooves are more detailed on ponies now or that there’s something special and unique with him specifically. I’m excited to see what this new dragon brings to the table.
I find the concept of ponies refusing to accept change incredibly interesting

My guess on the plot is maybe she and the other Earth Ponies that are upset aren’t aware that they have their own magic as well (and maybe Hitch realizing he can understand animals can help them to tell that they just haven’t figured out what theirs is yet!).
I’m really glad that it’s going to be a plot point with ponies not in control of their magic immediately, it made for an interesting bit in the Tell Your Tale episode **Sisters Take Flight** and I was hoping to see it be addressed again!
Just saw the trailer, yeah the visuals aren’t great but I’d say it’s passable enough. I’m still looking forward to the special.

I like how they're taking various approaches to the return of magic, like Sunny understanding her new alicorn powers, that one Earth pony hating the use of magic, etc. I'm also curious on what they'll do with that baby dragon.
the animation really reminds me of the How To Train Your Dragon television shows in terms and how the characters in that were rendered. both are 3d as well, so it could just be how cheaper 3d shows appear when they try their best with a limited budget to emulate their film counterparts.
The only thing I think could’ve been done better was not spoiling the half the episode. Other than that I think this will be a fun watch. :D

The song sounds a lot like the ones from Rainbow Rocks. Perfect Day for Fun and Shine Like Rainbows are the ones that come to mind the most for me.
The ponies look a little stiff whenever they finish a movement, it's just noticable to be jarring but I'll be able to tune it out once I get to watching.
OOH If Hitch IS a descendant of Fluttershy then I hope he can use the Stare

I am also very excited for this special. It looks amazing and exciting. The animation may be a bit off from the movie, but that is fine, I still like how it looks. The new dragon has me interested to see what that can do in the upcoming series, and Hitch talking to animals like Fluttershy, that is also something to look forward to. Sunny controlling her new powers, I wonder how that will go. The ponies who are not happy about magic returning, we will see what goes on with that, as well as all the trouble going on that we saw in this trailer. There is so much to look forward to from this and it is exciting, I can't wait to see this special.

I'm excited for this special to come out, I had to tell myself to calm down before I exploded in excitement, as a new member to the fandom I can't wait for the future series The animation in my opinion still looks like it needs a bit more work but I don't care.
2:31 I have not watched any of Tell Your Tail before today (saw two episodes), and I can tell you I couldn't tell they were different voice actors.
well, I personally love new voice actors even more than original ones! Izzy now sounds like a real weirdo (like Entrapta), Zipp is 20% cooler, and Pipp's "accent" is totally adorable. like new Rarity for me)
I'm really excited to see where they go with this generation.
I think since magic is coming back so are the other creatures and this scene 4:08 might be pointing out a potential windigo return.
Personally I look back on shows like “planet Sheen” anything how far we’ve come with CGI animated TV shows. And when I first watched the movie and was noticing all these fairly well known actors I knew they weren’t gonna keep them for the show, so that is kind of distracting. Also when compared to the movie The colors don’t seem as bright as they should be (And I know they show a scene where the day is overcast but I feel my point stands)
I actually really enjoyed the movie, so much so but I think that even kids and adults who weren’t a fan of FIM could like that movie on its own compared to the 2017 one, but unlike FIM it’s in 3-D so it kind of won’t be as “squash and stretch” cartoony like FIM was, that being said I’ll probably still watch it
My biggest question at this point is: WHERE IS SPROUT?!! I NEED TO KNOW!

I'm pretty sure Zipp is the new deputy since it was implied in a Help Your Tale episode when Hitch learned that he needed to find a new deputy. Also, Sparky Sparkeroni is just a newborn dragon who most likely wouldn't be able to even have proper grammar skills until years later.

If Sparky doesn't remain a baby beyond this special, they'll either need to address a difference between dragon's of today and pony aging, or it'll have been several years between the end of Make Your Mark and the G5 series as a whole, since Spike grew up alongside Twilight, so that made sense

It looks like it will be very enjoyable to watch. Even if its quality doesn't match the movie's, it still looks and sounds good to me. I can't wait for this to come out. My excitement levels are increasing! 😁 Plus I watched my 1st MLP FIM episode on May 26, 2012, so "Make Your Mark" is releasing on my 10th Brony Anniversary. Maybe I should do something special to celebrate. 🎈
The only thing that really bugs me about this special is Izzy's voice. I feel Kimiko Glenn's voice lent a sort of subtlety to the silliness of her character. That subtlety is lost with the new actress, in favor of a louder more bombastic voice. It's not terrible, but compared to the other voices it stands out to me in just a few wrong ways.
I’m of the opinion it should be pushed back, I want the voices to be from the first movie. Gen 4 cast wasn’t changed from movie to series, they stayed through the entire generation. Also I understand smaller projects don’t need as much attention but the series from gen 4 was what we were used to but the movie and RR were of the same design.
I'd say the quality is similar to the Nickelodeon 3d tv shows.

Here are my shower thoughts about the trailer/sypnosis:
-I can't get over how strange the animation looks, it's slower and kind of looks like those HTTYD spin off shows or CGI Barbie
-I can already see where this is going. Zipp tries to warn everypony of the Crystals' glitching but her friends ignore her for the sake of the plot any they end up apologizing to her in the end
-I doubt this movie will have a villain. And if it does, it will probably be Posey Bloom sabotaging the crystals out of spite (either that, or she's still bitter about the Mane-Melody incident)
-Why are the crystals still here in the first place? Didn't they vaporize when the rainboom brought magic back in the last movie?
-Seeing the world end from loss of magic makes you wonder why that didn't happen already
-I would like the special to explain how the Crystal Brighthouse came to be and what happened to Sprout as that wasn't explained in Tell your Tale
-In some brief shots, Zipp is wearing some kind of belt similar to Hitch's. I'm guessing that she'll be the new deputy, which was a throwaway line in Tell Your Tale
-I'm assuming the abyss is the same abyss Cozy Glow made in the FiM season 8 finale
-Why does the baby dragon have wings? They're supposed to get them while molting
-Speaking of dragons, I would freak out if Spike showed up and he ended up married to some dragon (maybe Smolder or Ember) but I hope that baby is not Spike's son
Earth ponys arent AWEAR they have magic so they are probably Salty thinking they are left out, I bet the ooze is going to help them learn they have magic to
They hint in the trailers that they believe that earth ponies have no magic, But Hitch being able to understand the animals would say other wise. even in G4, the Earth ponies do have magic it's just more … grounded? Earth based, Nature based? Fluttershy was an exception. They do say that since they've gotten magic back that they are having trouble using it, So it's very possible that they forgot that Earth ponies had magic too. and that this all stems from the earth ponies getting theirs back and ( like the others) having no idea how to use it. That or they stole the dragon egg and well, Dragon magic ain't to be messed with.
The animation kinda looks like video game cutscenes to me.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I do have to constantly keep reminding myself I'm not watching a cutscene.
I think the earth ponies were getting stuck to the ground because it was only the earth crystal that was damaged. However, instead of just getting stuck to the ground, it could be that the damage to the earth crystal cut off the earth ponies magic part of them, their hooves, since earth ponies have a special connection to the ground.
Really hope they up their animation and or release a lot more this looks like httyd vs the series but the series had like 5 seasons so I think that’s okay….

I just noticed something about sparky. They were born with wings buy dragons get wings during a pubescent molt. :/
maybe not all dragons do? could depend on the species. heck smolder who told spike about the molt never mentioned that hed get wings. so could be something that varies species to species
well they never stated that dragons grow wings during the molt since you'd thing smolder would've mentioned that. the way it was phrased seems like its just dragon puberty so they start growing more. we never saw the other dragons like ember, smolder, garble or garble's friends as young dragons and only as teenagers so maybe it just depends on the dragon? the wings don't look strong enough to hold sparky's weight anyways so it could be that they can't use them yet.
This is hundreds of years in the future, we also get flying dogs and flying rats, so its nothing weird to see dragons evolve.
@@MrConredsX Yeah that's a good point actually. Dragons in FiM only got their wings during their molt, but that would seriously impact how many survived because they wouldn't be able to flee larger predators. Makes sense that they would evolve to be born with wings so they can use them earlier as well 🤔
In some scenes the animation looks like one of those animations in cheap chinese animated bootleg movies
If this takes place after the movie then Sprout did reform after all so it's canon...I believe
he is seen on the wanted poster in the You Tube show so he is still on the run

I'm feeling very cautious about this Paleo, the animation felt a little stiff to me. It's the only major complaint I have so far though.
I do feel a need to say that I don't care for Posy getting a successor in this though. It could cause some confusion.
Animation-wise, it's a complete disaster! The lighting is still broken, the shading is inconsistent, the rendering is AWFUL, the characters move like malfunctioning animatronics, the colors are painful to the eyes, the textures and attention to detail are non-existent and the backgrounds are boring! This doesn't seem like a case of "low-budget problems" or "time restraints". It feels more like sheer laziness to me! So I did some digging on Atomic Cartoons and everything they've done so far, and turns out: these guys are already INFAMOUS for their 3D cartoons looking either lazy or painfully inconsistent. This ain't a one-time thing. It's how they roll!
Plot-wise..... it's literally the movie all over again. The ponies start hating each other again, making the magic fade out and the crystals glitch, so it's up to Sunny and the Mane 5 to find a way to keep it all together. Aside from a few small tweaks here and there, overall they're literally REHASHING THE MOVIE! Is it really too much to ask for these people to - Oh, I don't know - actually give a damn about what they're doing?!
I'm trying to give G5 a chance, I really am. I'm trying to convince myself there's still hope for this new gen to actually be good. But Hasbro just keep letting me down every single time! I don't know if I can take it any more.
I fail to see how this is a rehash of the movie's plot. The world has gone through a major change, and the ponies living in it are going to have to adapt. Some will find it easy, others will not, and there will always be a group that wishes things went back to the way they were before.
This is classic worldbuilding. It's more than appropriate for the series to be tackling this issue right on the heels of the movie. I don't see the problem. This seems completely natural.
@@everetttoews433 I like the premise of this special it's the earth ponies who don't want it to change that's a cool idea the CGI look good imo not as good as the movie but i was never expecting that love the new voices actors to.
I doubt you have ever done anything in your life as difficult as animating a whole tv show, and I doubt you ever will 🤣
