Characters like cheetuh are a great narrative device to show the audience exactly what NOT to do. By having a character break every rule in the book, you show why those rules where put there in the first place. It’s good writing
It just fun actually seeing an idiot try using the power system of the show for the first time Most other show everyone know what up so this is really entertaining for sure
I guess that is what hxh fights about. Morel gave a lecture about that when Killua and Gon ran away from Pitou. I think Morel is a true example of a hunter.

Cheetu only survived this long in HxH because the hunters either had fun messing up with him or they weren't interested in fighting a childish Chimera Ant. When he confronted the Zoldycks who are only interested in business he got wrecked in an instant lol.
Zeno told Cheetu to leave him alone, but Cheetu wanted to play with his new power. Silva killed Cheetu only because the latter got in his way. Zeno once said that killing is work but not a thing for fun. There is no reason to kill someone except for money. So Cheetu could easily dodge that death
It's so interesting because Cheetu is one of the strongest and one of the beings with more natural talent as a chimera ant. (Obviously if we don't count the king or royal guards) He created a crosbow without even seeing it, while Kurapika, who is also a talent, had to train a lot to create his chains. But all of Cheetu talent does not matter because he's dumb and does not know how to use it.
On the contrary, Cheetu had an explosive and disproportionately memorable death compared to the *overall importance of his character. What some considered a cheap shot actually immortalized him in the minds of the fandom.
Cheetu could've made it so that Morel was forced to chase him for eight hours until he caught him or time ran out, but in return Cheetu had to run away from Morel for eight hours as well until he's caught or time runs out. If time ran out, both of them permanently enters a forced state of Zetsu similar to Chrollo's situation (meaning only a Nen exorcist could remove it). Since Morel is a hunter, he should be able to handle eight hours of running like Gon and co. did in the Hunter Exam, so it would have come down to Cheetu himself.
then morel would not have the ability to use nen at all vs cheetu being useless in the fight( already was useless in the fight because he did not care), it would have been brilliant move from shiapouf to give this ability instead
And that's why Morel is my number 1 favorite character in the whole show. I know he is not the best written (coz the like of Meruem, Killua, Netero, Hisoka .. exist) but he is just so lovable.
In fact, he was well written. He just didn't have the same amount of time or the same importance as those you mentioned. But that doesn't make it worse, Morel was well written for the time and role it had in the series.
Morel is well written, he's just not a well of deep emotional storytelling. He's an exterminator here to do his job. Within that context he is perfectly written for what he's supposed to be.

I saw on Reddit a theory of what his Monroe Walk could have been in Ep 117. Cheetu would have created small floating platforms under his feet as he ran for like a second or so. He would've been able to essentially run at unexpected angles like in the air. He would have to keep up his momentum because if he slowed down even a little, then he would fall off the platforms and won't be able to conjure anymore until he hit the ground. Cheetahs are known to have incredible speed but trash stamina (Not sure if it applies to Cheetu in the HXH verse), so this power could be a double-edged sword in the wrong situation.
I don't think so. The point of Cheetu as a character is being a childish opponent doing stupid things. Morel and the others kept him alive bc they had fun messing up with his stupidity. Zoldycks on the other hand are straigt to the business so he died because he finally found someone that had no time to fool around.

I had rewatch his death just to make sure I knew what I was talking about, and yeah cheetu was very stupid, kinda like a kid learning new things and he clearly didn't get the hint to back off. Though it was the fact that killua dad is the one who had killed him, and not the grandfather himself. Cheetu was going to die regardless but it felt cheap. That is just my opinion about the matter.
