nah, man ye doktaram!
@sophielemmens lmao i know right am from egypt idk why but this song is stuck in my head
oh my god, i haven't sung this since 6th grade choir... i completely forgot about it up til now.
Just read some the comments about the song's origins. It's based on the Phrygian mode - musical modes have been mentioned as far back as Ancient Greece (both Plato & Aristotle discussed them) - and it's highly unlikely that this was the first time they were used. Every musician throughout history has been influenced by something, a process that goes back far further than anyone can chart. Arguing about a song's origins in silly - if you don't like it, go and listen to something you do like.
Wasn't this version in an episode of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'?
I like this song bu the way we Orthodox Christians were always tolerant too the Jews, unlike the Catholics.
Could anybody translate the lyrics please?

@RoderichEdelstein727 Why hava nagila is a popular song for jews? what does it talk about? and what is the meaning of its lyrics. I could not understand anything from the language! is it Hebrew or Yedesh?
I am looking for the Hava Nagila that fits this description. Is this it?
Title Artist DiscID TrackNo
Hava Nagila Traditional SC7598 11
@omenwolfe
:D It's cool... I get it ;)
It's morning here :D Belgrade.(Serbia,Europe) xD
Greetings 2 u 2 friend :)
its the stereotypical jewish song! love it!!! took me so long to find this
Ok
@SaudiPseudonym good for u lol(same here)
And by the way, the argument about this being a Turk/ Greek song is particularly silly, the dominant Phrygian mode is modern & is mostly used in Romanian & Ukrainian folk music. I believe the melody was taken from a Ukrainian folk song and also, as far as I'm aware, the song isn't about praising God, but rather about celebrating the Balfour Declaration.
@Faioliama oh cool! do you have tabs of this for a twelve hole?!
P.S. Mazel Tov! (corect me if i wrote it wrong lol)
@thedudefromthehood i'm not jew. Anyway i didn't know that it was a turkish folk song, i'm sry!! Respect for Turkey!!
@iugk Me too! I hear this in some Beatles parody. I thought it was hilarious. = D
I made a game of this how long i can keep up with the song before i die. :) I don't know hebrew but I know the lyrics of the song .... I fail every time at the second time the "uru" part comes. It is fun thou (I'm so lonely:( )

What the heck does this have to do with Hava Nagila?
@lolipop2119 Hhow have I offended you - merely what I meant was that I cannot get this song out of my head. Satisfied?
я не поняла ничего
@omenwolfe
Yeah,yeah,I know. That's why I wrote national under '' . You know what I mean... I ment song which is ...dunno... some kind of label of Israel... you know... :) Shalom,Shalom :)
Sorry the lyrics are a bit squashed up but I had to trim it down to fit the space!
One of the best examples of this song to learn the lyrics is by Matt Monro (The Man!)
Can`t find it on YT but I found it quite by accident on Spotify. In fact that was the first time I had ever heard it. I was looking for other stuff by MM.
Please note: The digraph ch is pronounced like the German ch after a back vowel,as in Bach [IPA: /x/].
Did the caveman invent Klezmer?
Way too fast for me...
@thedudefromthehood this song has its origins in ukranian folk music nothing to do with turkish crap
Я
lol at the time i posted this there was more then a few turks who kept posting comments about this ong being origionally turkish..

@ABookwormAndProud
Oooooh,I see :)
Yeah,I know about usage of the word ''shit'',but it just didn't occur to me that it was something nice,concidering what other people speak about Jewish people... I thought it was something insulting. Stupid me. :D
Кто тут русский?
Kis Kis Miss я
Kis Kis Miss таки да я русский
Я
Я тебе открою секрет...тут все русские))))
i know its jewish... i just saw many comments from turks saying it was turkish.
its jewish music no turkish.Turkish version name is kasap havası...
nice song ,I like it a lot
God bless the jewish people ....
What do you mean "Why does it matter where he/she is from"? that's the whole basis of his/ her arguement isn't? He hates people from Turkey.
Quite why I don't understand, but each to his own...
What if I hated people from America? (I don't) Then what? Is that ok?
I suppose if people are allowed to rage on turks, then they're allowed to rage about americans right?
