If Itzy don't release another stand out, viral release like wannabe, they might start being overshadowed by other, newer 4th gen girl grps especially with so many anticipated debuts (hybe's 2ggs, jyp's, yg's, kep1er, aespa etc)
Tho their numbers might not be affected too much, their presence in the industry might

I agree they're definitely going to change their sound, cause TXT has always said that they want to try to make songs with different genres. As well as their title tracks never have stayed the same at all from CYSM to Blue Hour...
I am actually 100% sure they won't, the next will most probably be more of a bright concept

I agree with TXT but I think ITZY might be overtaken by a new girl group in the same way that Twice and Blackpink are both leaders in third gen. ITZY is good but their concept does put them in a certain niche and sound. I think the new YG girl group, the new BigHit girl group and Kep1er are all strong contenders.
I would have to disagree, for me there's no 4th gen leaders just yet cuz for being a leader in a generation they would have to represent it in every aspect. In the case of boy groups, Enhypen is the best in terms of physical sales; Stray Kids, in spotify streams and youtube views; the boyz, in domestic streams; and Ateez, in terms of performance (?). In the case of girl groups, aespa, stayc, ive, gidle are there so....

However, the reason you only think of like 5 groups when you think of second gen leaders is because as the years of each gen go on, soem groups continue growing in popularity while others remain stable but don’t grow much. Soon that will also happen with 4th gen but it will take some years

I hope AI doesn't take over kpop or dominate the trends. Cuz kpop is already known for unrealistic standards and this will only ruin so many young minds and skyrocket the beauty standards. Lyk I couldn't believe that knets and fans were amused and appreciating aespa for having such small bodies (they had to use kids mannequin to display their clothes). Also knets and fans being obessed with how much karina resembles a doll and fits so perfectly in the standards. Not that tehy need to hate on the girls and body shame them but the whole thing is just- I mean why encourage such standards. The whole AI and real members concepts was sick, I was so digusted when I first found out wat SM has created. Tho I gradually fell in love with aespa's stage and perf, now that their music sound too robotic and clumsy I don't feel the same anymore. AI will always beat humans and I don't want the comparison to become normal. The reason I don't stan gg is one the stupid standards and two, originality lacks in so many girl groups cuz the comapny doesn't give them freedom and is always focused on the appearance and beauty. Hell, even boy groups r becoming manufactured these days.

(G)I-DLE will still be popular in Korea however, will lose attention internationally. As soon as Minnie came back from Thailand her fiction stage trended on Pann & Twiter and her fancam is the most viewed and is filled with Korean comments. Miyeon has gained popularity due to her stunning visuals so she often trends on Pann. Soyeon has many clips of her on UA-cam with over 1,000,000+ views and K-netizens constantly praising her for her allroundedness and producing ability. This shows Koreans are still interested in them however, (G)I-DLE are mostly underappreciated by international stans and always receive an unneccessary amount of hate so when they return I think it'll only get attention due to Soojin not being part of it from international stans but successful in Korea.

i miss 3rd gen idols. 3rd gen of kpop is literally the best, full of bop songs. I do like 4th gen of kpop but 3rd gen is something else, something unique and special. I hope 3rd gen groups won’t disband and have a lot of comebacks. Istg i will leave kpop if 3rd gen downfall :(
Seventeen is far from declining. LOL! They are still thriving and beating their own records. Their fans are growing each comeback as well.
I do agree that the Grammy's are biased especially in the main category (it was funny how adele admitted that winning over beyonce was unfair) but bts recent music is not a critically good it is very basic generic pop music they had better chance with tear album and black swan was a masterpiece and i heard doja cat and bruno Mars and lady gaga are nominated in that category so chances are really really slim

This is unfortunately true. I feel like no matter what they do, regardless of what type of music they make, the academy is just going to continue being narrow minded.

I've been a Kpop fan for 4 and a half years, and I love many groups.
As a moomoo (Mamamoo fan) I don't think that we will see the decline of this group, as their fanbase is truly faithful and will stay like that no matter what! (And I know that other fanbases are like that too)
Concerning Soojin, I really love her, I sincerely hope that she will be okay, and it's that sad that there is nothing we can do anymore to help with the situation! I hope she knows that her fans love her!

i think we won't see seventeen loosing popularity in the near future tbh, as a carat i think the fanbase is really loyal and we still have some time before members start leaving for the military ✨ seventeen's comeback numbers keep increasing and even though the growth might not be as big as before they're a solidified group, i hope from here on and with their contract renewals we start seeing more members venturing out and gaining some traction for the group 🙏🏻 as for txt and enhypen, I TOTALLY AGREE, txt is incredibly versatile and enhypen are growing so fast, i think they'll dominate/continue to dominate 4th gen ✨ i also don't think bts are going to win the grammy, i really wished they did but i don't see it happening yet 😢
I hope bts stops caring about the Grammy's. Army's wouldn't care if bts didn't want that award I just hope they leave it alone and focus on other things. They shouldn't want validation from racists and they should be aware of this by now judging by how they're constantly treated and portrayed by the western media.
at this point, all of us know that bts are aware of the shit that's getting thrown at them. I think bts want the grammy because like any other artist (especially kpop artists) it's a big accomplishment having "Grammy winner artist" stick with their name.
Plus I feel like them winning a grammy will make the general public open up for them a little more.

Tbh I think they feel kind of pressured to win it. Everyone had their eyes on them last year and they might feel like they have to because everyone wants them to. Despite the grammys being racist pricks, I still believe people in Korea and armys want them to win and the members feel that pressure.
Whether you like Grammy's or not. You have to admit it's one of the prestigious award you can get in music field. And others award shows are just as unfair as them. Idk why y'all have double standards about that.

this year will be a downfall to 3rd gen groups but I think nct bts and svt r safe. Svt may not be as popular and global but they do have a huge loyal fanbase and in fact it's lyk they've just begun their journey. I mean there has been a large amount of addition to the carat fandom in the past two years and I think they have even better years ahead. AND they r carats who only stan svt and is only staying in kpop for them.
im not a carat but svt are always on my radar and i look forward to their comebacks. They will keep on thriving im sure!
i really hope that the rest of the girls in clc (especially yeeun & seunghee) can start successful solo careers under different companies they have so much talent and i can't bear cube's shitty marketing anymore :(

For me, at this point TXT are literally the 4th gen leaders (boy group) and I think that this year their popularity will grow even more. I mean, last year The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE was the 5th best selling album in USA and the best selling album among male groups (not kpop, in general) so I think that they will continue to have a bright future. I also agree with ENHYPEN because they are a one year old group but they are growing so fast. 2022 will be the year of TXT and ENHYPEN

I am a casual listener to other groups ...so I cannot predict much (I even don't know number members in grps)......TXT is my ult ..then BTS and now I am looking forward to Min Hee Jin gg .

I'm thinking the same thing, honestly. With groups like CLC and Got7 I have definitely seen them dwindle in popularity since I started listening to kpop in like 2016, but some groups like Seventeen, Stray Kids and NCT are still going strong.
I'm kinda ashamed to admit that I'm eagerly awaiting YG's new group just to see how they are managed. I wasn't there for 2NE1 so I just wanna prove a theory of mine.
I completly disagree with your opinion on G Idle. Soyeon always had the best charisma on stage and can very well fill the main dancer position. Minnie went viral for her Fiction cover for her charisma and voice. Yuqi is actually the most popular member and Cube is actively training Shuhua to take Soojin's lines and dancer place. Soyeon is always trending nowadays with Aiki for their mentoring on MBC.
Soyeon (and Minnie at a smaller proportion) is the backbone of G idle. The girls are the only group that is actively succesful in Cube so the company is going the keep supporting them. They just need their next comeback to be a good song with a good concept and they will keep their place as 4th generation leader.
Also, Gidle is not like any other girlgroup, neverland stan them maybe for the members and how pretty they look and how funny they are but they stay because of their music and the fact that they are a self made group. A bit like stray kids or seventeen. Saying they are going to flop from now on just because they lost one member is really far fetched, knowing that they havent made a come back yet.

G idle is probably my favourite girl group too and I think they are pretty unique. I like a lot of groups but idle to me has the music that most suits my preference. I think the remaining members have alot of potential. It may be difficult for them to get going again with soojin gone, however if cube doesn't screw things up for them, I think they can do just fine. They are one of the groups that I couldn't even tell who the main vocalist was until I looked it up. They all sing well and I know yuqi and I believe Minnie have been involved a bit in song writing I think even though soyeon does the majority. Point is, they've got potential. It's really up to cube now to go ahead and use it.
Also. I like monsta x who lost wonho who I think alot of people really loved and was quite popular. I know its not nearly the same situation as idle's, but monsta x is doing pretty good right now and wonho himself is in a good place with his solo work. I know it's wishful thinking, but I think if cube just gives them a chance, they could do well. If they really do end up experiencing a downfall, I believe it will have more to do with cube holding them back and less to do with soojin being gone. They just have to try and hope for the best.
My prediction is that NCT will get bigger and I'm hoping BTS will win but the chances are so low BECAUSE GRAMMY IS XENOPHOBIC AND RACIST

Monsta X was so much affected when Wonho left... It might happen with Gidle too I'm afraid.. hoping for the best tho
But monstax still felt "normal" to me without wonho, I don't know about g-idle because soojin was one of the main attractions in the group to me.

The Grammy noms have been out for a while and yes BTS will be attending. But even tho they have the most successful song among the nominees I doubt they'll win it cause it's racist Grammys. Grammys also is rumoured to be planning to have audience this time around, as in an arena. If that's the case it's gonna be sold out and filled with armys.

1. Wrong. Gidle made 2 comebacks.
2. I mean kinda ig? 3rd gen was rlly falling down with the quality of music but still we got many 3rd gen comebacks.
3. aespa's girls rlly rocked their ai comcept this time so it's actually good now but the prediction is wrong since no ai concept groups debuted this year.

gidle are going to do just fine, they had their first performance after a year today and they did more than amazing, they all improved so much and matured a lot, the crowd went crazy for them and gained a lot of new fans, yeah it's not going to be the same without soojin but the rest of the girls are super talented too so i don't see why they can't do good, tbh i feel like a lot of people are underestimating them and you all are going to be so shocked by them soon
I think skz or txt (I even want ateez and enhypen) are gonna be dominating the world and the best gg would be itzy. Hands down
Ya know something I noticed with the 4th generation of Kpop is that idols seem much more polished and staged now. I know that sounds weird but what I mean is that I feel more like I'm watching someone who clocked into work. Not much freedom as people and artist. The idols have like customer service smiles. I thought that idols in the next generation would be more free with the expansion into the Western market since BTS brought Kpop to the west. Have more freedom with music and creativity. But it just feels more like it's more structured now than the last generation.

Yeah I get what you mean. I feel like with 2nd and 3rd gen we really got to grow up with the group. When they debuted, they weren’t perfect and a lot of them became better performers and artists over time. But with 4th gen, debuts don’t even feel like debuts anymore. The idols are so polished with their skills and personally it’s really weird cause they’re so young. Idk I’m glad they’re being recognized as performers but I would love to see groups develop their skills over the years.

Only 4th gen soloist I know of is AleXa, and while I certainly wish I could say she's one of the big names in 4th gen she just doesn't have the widespread popularity (yet).
As far as GGs go, aespa & itzy are obvious shoo-ins and I think IVE, Kep1er, and YGNGG are likely to catch up with them once they've had a little more time to grow (or debut, in YGN's case)
No hate to 3rd gen but when people say that 3rdgen main dancer's can beat 4thgen dancers when it literally contains Niki minaj(en-hoe), shotaro (nct hollywood) lee yeonjun many more :/ soory to y'all but shotaro&Niki can literally beat some well experienced dancers in 3rd gen ( please don't start a war )

Not all 3rd gen will go down. BTS and BLACKPINK is still at their peak and hasn't beaten yet, despite 4th gen are now coming out. They will probably be the last group standing, if they will continue to release music.

Not everyone is gonna react the same in certain situations. I've noticed 1 thing about YG. I've noticed that every groups of them have specific month of comeback. Have you guys noticed that BLACKPINK always comeback in the month of. June since 2017, except for KTL? AIIYL, D4, HYLT are all released in June. While KTL was released in April because they need to release it for Coachella. I'm sure June will be their comeback with a full album with sub-units and more than 10 songs.

If an album like MOTS7 was not even nominated then I have no hopes that BTS will ever win even in the pop duo category. It totally seems like a throwaway nomination to me. MOTS and Love Yourself are legit BOP albums so yeah i am happy for the nomination this time but its unlikely that they will win

this is a clear shade to the cloutchasing media and kpop companies who were so desperate to get their idols exempted from the military that they did a whole meeting whining about how it's unfair that the qualification the government put can only be ever achieved by BTS. Also with gidle not only soojin being a big part of it but also the fans. No one can stop talking or thinking about soojin everytime theres an appearance of the 5 members she was to significant she probably had the 2nd best stage presence of the group and really always caught everyones eye even if she wasnt ur bias plus her voice even tho not unique in girl groups it was unique in gidle bcus she has so much of a lighter brighter tone it really kept it so that the other members voices didnt become too much (i love their voices but ya know what i mean where sometimes too many unique voices in one song can get to be too much soojin really made it so it all came together right). Its really sad bcus theyre one of my favorite groups but i dont think theyll be able to recover. I feel like they really might promote for a couple more years tho they just wont get as much attention and the hole soojin left will never be filled no matter how much improvement the other members get or how long they go without her and its definetly gonna return to the name "soyeon and friends" as much as i hate it i can already see the comments.
Me as a neverland Yuqi and Miyeon bias soojin my bias wrecker i will continue to listen to the grousp songs but i dont think i can watch their videos other then the mv anymore without missing soojin and feeling that hole like gidle is never whole altho i wish i could i just cant. Maybe when performing their comebacks they had with her, but not when they start releasing new music. She did fulfill a role that no other idle member can, but it's not necessary to fill it for them to be successful!
Did you watch their first ot5 performance btw? They did good and the only bad thing about the performance was camerawork! Yuqi was going half viral on twitter for her voice and performance. Shuhua got a lot of center time and lines, not like the camerawork actually showed that though, the shitty camerawork really hindered their performance. Some stays started commenting that they got interested in Idle and might stan them too! I think they'll be just fine and can manage to bounce back from this
For me soojin non existense in the group since cube kick them just so obvious like her aura just so strong there in gidle. And now they don't cb for long time and focus on individual. Now they are being overshadowed by newer group

i was thinking the same thing about the bts, 3rd gen drop, and 4th gen rise. i feel like we can already see the shift but i think 3rd gen are still going to be influential to the scene and maybe not mainstream direction of music but definitely quality (since i personally don't think companies are taking and giving as much care to 4th gen as they used to with 3rd gen which is a big assumption and generalization on my part bc i know very little about kpop industry, this is based on vibes and like trends i guess i see and like how like business functions, no hate)
I personally think Seventeen will be okay. I mean their music may not be as trendy as Mansae, Pretty U or Very Nice, but their variety show (which they themselves have fun doing, despite the pressure) is popular in SoKor. They don't have to be worldwide famous to be safe in their career. They live in SoKor anyway.

it’s interesting to me how over the years the obvious “these 3 groups are gonna be popular bc they’re from the big 3 companies” line has faded. now it’s so much harder to decipher who’s from a smaller company and even when it comes to talent some of these singers from smaller companies out here could have easily been under SM. all i’m trying to say is that 4th gen is the first time we’re seeing a less biased ranking of “generation leaders” it’s more abt talent now rather than what company you’re under. sure ITZY is w JYP but at the end of the day i think we all know that some of these other ggs have just as much of a chance of being the generation leaders as they do

clc has to finally disband this year or next. they've already been dismissed with no sign of future promotions, yujin is off to better things in kep1er, elkie is in china, and sorn of course (who personally did half of their promo instead of the company) is gone. company silence and lost members aside, they don't have the potential to keep going as a group. similarly to how you talked about soojin, elkie and sorn were vocal line. all that's left is seunghee. while the other remaining members are stable, they have other roles in the group, and seunghee can't be responsible for carrying the group vocally. cube also has their new rookie girl group and idle to worry about, who have more earning potential in cube's eyes than clc altogether. the remaining girls contracts will be terminating in the next year or so anyway, and i can't see any of them renewing, except maybe eunbin if she chooses to pursue acting. it's clear theyre focusing on soyeon, and though theyve shown potential for it i can't see yeeun, seungyeon or seunghee going solo. as a cheshire: god i hope they get better opportunities.

Don't even TRY to apply validity to the Grammys when they gave Yummy by JB a nomination. 1) BTS changes their sound every release and 2) stop trying to rest their entire musical identity on 3 English singles. BTS has been submitting songs to the Grammys since LY:Tear but the only ones that racist institution pays attention to are the English ones. BTS doesn't need to do anything differently, it's the Grammys that need to get with the program. And if they never do, oh well, BTS is still successful and still makes quality music.

Those English singles were written by White ppl, that's why they get attention from media outlets regardless of being "basic" pop songs. If Black Swan was dropped in English it still would have been ignored because BTS wrote it. Any recognition would go solely to BTS and that's not the image the U.S. entertainment media outlets want to push. They want it to always look as though BTS is receiving charity and can only rise with the generosity of White English speaking artists. That's why I say BTS doesn't need to change anything. English, Korean, Japanese - if the song has BTS' names in the writing and production credits, the Grammys aren't about it. And a whole lot of kpop stans push the narrative without realizing it; BTS can't even accept songs from artists they admire without being called sell-outs on one side and generic on the other. Stop saying they need to change things. Even many White artists that win Grammys admit when they know a POC should have won instead. If a White person can't be credited in some way, BTS will be ignored no matter what they release.
