Thanks for video. This brings back my wonderful memories in Bern, Switzerland. Been there for half years, Migros, Coop, Denner, Lidl my favorite store.
Thank you for the general feel of grocery prices. I really liked the chocolate and the cakes. Compared to the southern U.S., where I live, prices are about 50% higher in Switzerland. The average incomes here are about 50% lower, so I guess it evens out.
I love to shop at leCler in Saint Louis but in Germany we get the taxes back so I go there often however as I live in Switzerland I support the shops here and love to go to the farmers market
Love these supermarket videos. FYi Australian supermarkets are a bit cheaper (but still over priced) than Swiss...but New Zealand's are more expensive! This is due to a duopoly (only two supermaket chains) which overcharge by as much as 20%. people (on average) earn much less than the Swiss in Australia and New Zealand.
Thank you for this video. I would say that prices in Switzerland are in the same range as those in Canada. Meat seems to be more expensive, wine seems to be cheap. Cheese is about the same price, surprisingly. The problem in Canada is that only 3 companies control own almost all the supermarkets, so they can charge whatever they want. Prices keep increasing consistently, and our gouvernement is not doing much to regulate the prices. But there are some independent smaller supermarkets owned by less greedy people, I try to shop more and more often there. Like big pharma, the people in the food industry are evil.
Hmmmmmmm I am not sure which kind of price level of Canada you are comparing, but Mr. Moonshine shows are mostly budget stuff, normal price are higher and if go for bio products than at least 2 or 3 times more than which Mr. Moonshine showed in the video 👍
@@namgyel6447 Bio products? I am talking about grocery chains that most people go to. Also, I think that the video mentioned that there are two brands in Switzerland that dominate the market COOP and MIGRO(S). So....
Prices are similar to what we have here in California. But I'd say our overall cost of living is higher than Switzerland 🇨🇭 By the way, Roger Federer is quite friendly 😊
Hm, I used to live in California but that is a while ago, but I cannot believe that overall cost would be higher there than in Switzerland. Switzerland is the richest and most expensive place in the world, the only place that rival is Singapore and - now not so anymore - Norway. Roger Federer is very friendly, he is from very close to this Migros.
watching from Malaysia...most of the prices are around 3 to 4x of that in Malaysia but considering most Swiss earned 10k Frans a month (+-RM4k average Malaysian earned) is affordable for them...10:23 most supermarkets in Malaysia do have discounted price sales for products that are expiring soon.
Pre C-19, I would find the Swiss prices outrageous. But post C-19, with the exceptions of dairy, meat, and sefood, I find the prices similar, compared to Minneapolis. Its amazing how many things went up from 30 to 300% in price in the last few years.
Do you get some fiscal burn out of sorts when you put up there for the number of days for getting the country to country transit paper and visa formalities for the next country - for the upcoming episodes 14:13 the butter there is as costly as here
I live in the US Vermont and things are much cheaper at Aldi here than in Switzerland. I think if you go to one of the big fancy grocery stores here, it’s more expensive, but I don’t go there.
But I think since you are brought up there you are used to taking advantage to some extent. And we are also very lucky to have the experience from a local like you! Best wishes to you🧞💑
Yes, but I have not lived here in a long time. Big advantage are high wages, and people have a lot of extra things here and luxury, so if you work here and do not these things you can save up a lot when working. That is the biggest advantage.
Haha, saw your latest short video, why was the comment section turned off. Dylan was so cute, isn't that a child labor, hehe, but he seemed to be enjoying the sweeping on the street though.
When I was Swiss, I used to go grocery shopping at Mulhouse(France) next to Basel, especially for meat and dairy products. At that time, 100 Swiss Francs would fetch me 500 FF. Germany isn't cheaper than France. And just imagine here in New York City all the grocery items you mention are just the 1/2 price. You can still buy a Holland eggplant for 50 cents here.
Most people from Basel go to Germany, it is much cheaper than France, and it has been for a long time. Interesting to hear that in NY things are 1/2 cheaper, the USA has just had a 40 % inflation due to the democrats... NY I found very expensive.
@@yvesthesleeve Yes, but only in the housing sector otherwise no inflation. How about buying 3 Agurke for $1 & 2 kopfsalat for .99 - unbelievable. The price per gallon of Gas(petrol) in NYC ranges from $2.75 to 2.99.
Indeed Switzerland is very rich county food prices are somehow expensive than us in UK, because last few years sterling has lost his value rapidly and things looks expensive to us as well. Please will you mention do you have Lidl or Aldi Germen stores which are very famous in Europe UK as cheap stores.
I thought the U.S was expensive but comparing prices, things cost twice as much in Switzerland. Our imported cheese, chocolates are even cheaper and I am considering the brands and weight. I guess something else you don’t have are coupons. I can get things for very cheap and with that I mean almost for free by just couponing which isn’t a common practice in Europe. Although I have to admit that I would rather pay more for dairy products and make sure that our farmers get fair prices for their products. Milk should be more expensive than water or sodas but that’s just me. I don’t know how you guys do it but I am glad I live in the States.
There are some coupons but not like in the US and it is not used very much in Switzerland. And yes, I would not want to pay 8 francs for 15 eggs but here that is not so out of the ordinary as people earn a lot of money.

Rice cultivation is a very labour intensive (RICE PADDY SOWN BY HAND)and water consuming process hence the price.Water is an expensive natural resource.Hence the price, i feel it is still cheaper---farmers are not getting worth their hard work.
