the music from when Guiding Light first comes on. This brings back so many memories of watching this show with my grandmother who has now passed away I'm so thankful that UA-cam have these old episodes God bless you all.
the best years of Guiding Light was from 1979 until 1985. Characters such Jennifer and Morgan Richards, Amanda, Floyd, Tim, Kelly, Carrie along with the Bauer, Reardon, Lewis, Norris, Chamberlain, Marler and Spaulding families made this show. The show started it's declined in 1986 and by the time is went off air it was a shell of its former self. Loved the Jennifer Richards trial, the Phillip-Beth-Rick-Mindy storyline, as well as the death of Roger Thorpe in Santo Domingo, along with Nola and her fantasies and the Lake Elizabeth storyline which involved H.B., Bill, Brandon, Tom, Henry and Annabelle. Carrie's split personality also ranked as one of my favorites also. The opening credits from 1983-1985 was the best.
Totally agree with you. I started to watch GL in 1983 but italian episodes were a couple years late. I followed Nola-Kelly-floyd triangle, Carrie Todd with her mental disease, Tony and Annabelle, Josh Lewis just came in Springfield, Andy Norris blackmailed Trish Lewis, Ed Bauer with Maureen, Mark betraying Jennifer with Amanda, and so on. I liked GL until Lujack died, next storylines were less and less interesting, sometimes too unreal, and I lost my interest.
@@CataVin yes I stopped watching around 86 also, was never a big Lujack fan but he was on the stop during it's heyday. I started watching with the Roger/Holly Santo Domingo storyline (Holly was in prison either before that or right after that, really good storyline) which followed with the Lucille Wexler/Jennifer Richards storyline which coincided with the Nola storyline to marry Kelly. Loved all those storylines you mentioned also although I never was able to see all of the Carrie Todd storyline or the Dreaming Death storyline. Love the mystery photo storyline involving Annabelle's dad and all of the main families (I can't find any of those episodes on youtube). I loved the first Ed and the first Maureen.
Never watched GH until covid and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching episodes in no particular order. All the good soaps from the past with their family emphasis. Love watching Beverlee McKinsey whom I've watched since her first appearance as Emma Frame, then Iris Cory Carrington on Another World. Her portrayal as Alexandra Spaulding is perfection. Marj Dusay had big shoes to fill after Beverlee's retirement, which she did superbly. Love the other characters as well. Thank you.
This is great. I remember this--Josh & Reva, Billy & Vanessa, Tony & Annabelle, Lujack & Beth. I loved Vincent's Lujack [15 November 1983--Wed, 2 Dec 1985] tenure. Twenty-five GLorious months of my favorite GUIDING LIGHT love story of all time, in my humble lazy-eyed hemiplegic hydrocephalic opinion.
I was in my 20s when this part of guiding light was on and to me it was the greatest love story between Beth and Lujack I wish I had every episodes from the time lujack came on and left when they killed him off it tore me up to me it was the best of guiding light
Lujack was not good for Beth he put her in harms way on more than one occasion She had more in common with Phillip and in the end the four Musketeeers got back together and had a happy ending. Lujack was too much of a Fonzi wannbe and It turned me off so much I stopped watching them and root doe Fletcher and Claire Ramsey.
This was a gorgeous title package for GL during this time -- but it wasn't the best time for GL. That would probably be during the "sunlight through the tree" years. Sadly, this show here and the prior one were really 2 different soaps that happened to have the same name. No years in it's history could have been better than the "Roger, Holly, Rita, Ed, Mike, Elizabeth, Justin, Jackie, Eve, Ben, Lucille, Amanda" years, It was simply.... perfection.
I don't it gets too repetitive and monotonous they did not play Truly that often when Beth was with Phillip. Its overkill but its not a bad song. They just overdid it. I never even saw Footloose either.
agree @Lujacklvr they were the best. I came here looking for videos of Beth and Phillip and got sidetracked. I had forgotten how I mooned over Vincent. 30 years later I just think they were adorable!
@@winogirlll I remember the episode where Reva got into a water fountain and told Josh "I baptize myself the "Slut" of Springfield". Josh was sitting in his wheelchair looking at her. That was a great episode!
Seeing Robert Newman here as good guy Josh and seeing him now on the Young and the Restless as bad guy Ashland it's weird, like him better here as Josh, the old commercials here bring back memories when commercials really sold something you wanted to buy unlike the annoying ones that they show today.
I was not even 1yr old when this episode aired, but I love the vintage/classic soap episodes of GL. Do you have uploaded the episode of Josh's accident? Do you know of anyone else that has the full episode uploaded? Which airdate was it: Friday June 8th? Monday, June 11th? Tuesday June 12th? Anyone who knows, it would be greatly appreciated.
I loved Josh spitting that food at her. What did she expect? She married his father. Disgusting of Reva and HB. I hated when they did this to Reva's character.
She knew Josh loved her and she married his father when she had the chance. Josh spitting on her was awful but was understandable since he felt betrayed by Reva married H.B.
@@rosiejase Thanks Rosie I did not follow it closely. I know at first Riva did not seem to like H.B. Much less love him I was not aware that she was also married to Billy.

I have the same exact experience It makes me emotional sometimes lol I was 11 when this was on

Thus was awesome! I remember seeing this. This was my favorite soap opera!

I was also mad when Lujack was killed off. I felt so bad for Beth and Alexandra

I'm loving these instrumental versions of Almost Paradise.

My favorite scenes in this ep are the Billy/Vanessa and Beth/Lujack scenes, especially when they're walking down the beach holding on to each other.
Loved Vanessa and Billy. I never liked them with anybody else but each other.
This aired 20 days before I was born. I know damn well my mama was watching it too. #GuidingLightBaby
Billy and Vanessa rock!!
That Duncan Hines commercial was everything!!
Love the Billy/Vanessa scenes!
The Reva character never made sense. She married rich men, but remained broke.
Thanks so much for posting!! I loved these storylines and characters!
agree @Lujacklvr they were the best. I came here looking for videos of Beth and Phillip and got sidetracked. I had forgotten how I mooned over Vincent. 30 years later I just think they were adorable!
Lujack treated her alot better than Phillip did
Not at first. He called her names liked Goldilocks Good Ship Lollipop Blondie. Phillip would never call her those things.
@Aquaria
You're welcome.
Pretty sure Reva and HB 's wedding happened offscreen and the audience didn't find out about it until they returned to SF.
bluerose8508 it did. Josh went to surprise Reva and found out she married his father. He got in a car and got into an accident. Then he was paralyzed.
@@winogirlll I remember the episode where Reva got into a water fountain and told Josh "I baptize myself the "Slut" of Springfield". Josh was sitting in his wheelchair looking at her. That was a great episode!
Love how Judi Evans plays this - her whole body is one big white knuckle!
Definitely the June 13th episode. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the episodes. WIsh I could find HB and Reva getting married.
HB & Reva marriage was a totally absurd storyline, he could have been her father
More like grandfather 😂

Jenniferkate and sneezyize, thanks for letting me know the correct date.
thank you for posting!
18:40 the single most disgusting and entertaining scene in soap opera history
❤️
@crw447
You're welcome. This was a great time for GL.

Why did Reva marry HB? I'm confused.
H.B.asked her and she said yes he treated her with respect.
Purely out of spite 😹
