JagannathPuriDham is one the most sacred places for followers of Sanatan Dharma and is also one of the Char Dham temples. Every 12 to 19 years the deities of Lord Jagannathji, Baladevji&SubhadraMaiya are changed and this festival is called Navakalevara. The literal meaning of Navakalevara is: ‘Nava’ means ‘New’ and ‘Kalevara’ means ‘Body’ (New Body or re-embodiment). During this festival new Deities are carved and old ones are cremated with rituals mentioned in the century old OdiaScriptures.
Depending on the almanac positions of Hindu calendar the transformation or the Navakalevar is usually held in the year when the month of Ashadha is followed by another Ashadha. The previous Nabakalebars took place in the year 1969, 1978 and 1996.
To welcome Lord Jagannathji ,Baladevji and Subhadramaiya in their new form we have organised an International Kirtan Festival called ‘Chant For Change’ . We will have a huge kirtanmela (Chant for Change) in PuriDham on 17th July 2015and on 18th July 2015, the day when actually Lord Jagannathji , Baldevji and Subadramaiya will give first darshan to devotees during the NavakalevaraRathYatra , simultaneously there will be Kirtan festivals all over the world in around 100 countries in various temples including all ISKCON temple across the globe.
The vision of the event is : ‘SarveBhavantuSukhinah’ - ‘Let everyone be contended and happy’
This event is being promoted by an organization named iaVedic and is being partnered by the Vaishnav Sampradayas (Sri Sampradaya, Madhwa Sampradaya, Vallabh Sampradaya, Kumar Sampradaya& ISKCON) and other Hindu organizations.
