Full admission-- my favorite ComicPoP word is "Dammit". Whether it's an impassioned expletive like Ben gave us at 9:19, or a flat-toned statement of fact that Ethan lets slip after Sal explains some comic bullshit (exhibit 17:49), there's something about the way these New Jersey boys say it that always makes my day.
I really enjoy "if you're gonna do x, why not y" critiques of the heroes and villains impulsive decisions to do stuff, because the writer didn't know how to progress the story 😂
@@baileyt2000 my theory is either be that Wonder Woman killed everyone even superman, cause superman regained his humanity somehow, superman killed batman at the start of injustice, or lastly somehow joker survived and has been puppeteering the entire ordeal before killing batman.
That filthy robot faker can't kill Superman's legacy if it's already dead. *taps temple* That was a calculated move on Lois's part...but man, is she bad at math...
Listening to this as my 1 year old sleeps on my shoulder after hours of projectile vomit 🤢 Keep up the great work lads! It's getting me through the late night parenting😂😂😂😂 From a Scotsman living in Germany (....and Sal, everytime you do the Grant Morrison impersonation I pish maself laughing 👍😂😂🤣😂)
The call back to Reign of the Supermen episode is amazing haha. "Sodium and chloride are both incredibly dangerous but after a chemical reaction they're incredibly delicious" 1 Eradicator + 1 beam of kryptonite = delicious powers for Superman hahahahaha
Yeah, I read all these back when they came out, and this one was easily, *EASILY*, the best one for all of the reasons given by y'all. Having lost both of my parents before I was 24 and my grandmother a couple years later, and they weren't easy deaths I lost them to, I always connect to- sympathize with and thoroughly comprehend- stories about grief and losing someone. So much fiction glosses over death, makes it a fairy tale of "oh they pass peacefully" or soften it so it doesn't trigger anyone, but this comic connected to me because of how raw and visceral that emotion of grief and loss was for Lois. So many of these- ostensibly- Elseworlds are "what if this, but darker and edgier, but this one comic, this one single comic, resonated with me that it didn't feel like it was from a place of "oh, let's make this whiny and pathetic", this story had a real large sense of a writer who understood what I understand, that grief and anger at losing people you love can change you, sometimes into a worse person than you are. 12 stars out of 7, I wish this got the Spider-Gwen treatment (or, grumble, The Batman Who Laughs treatment) and got ported over into mainline books because there's a lot of potential story to be had with this Lois interacting with, say, Earth Prime's Lois.
I legit think this is one of the alt version of a character that could crossover and do very interesting things, especially with the new Injustice and mainline crossover.
When the Justice League apologizes to Lois, I was expecting the next panel to be what happened when cyclops apologizes to Frank Castle for getting there too late to save his family in _Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe_
I remember back during the Death of Superman event in some editorial cartoon it showed Superman lying in a coffin with an open lid and there was a grave digger digging a grave for Superman just whistling and digging with his back to Sup's coffin, Superman suddenly sat up and said, "Not too deep now." And then he laid back down with a smile on his face, The grave digger was then looking around in confusion. "WHO SAID THAT?!?"
It's interesting to hear that Sal wasn't reading Superman until Death of Superman, same with Batman and Knightfall. I was a big Spider-Man and FF fan back in the day. I bought FF since my dad collected them, and it just seemed like something I had to continue.
There so much potential in this I am surprised DC has not taken the ball and ran with it. As long as these stay in the horror space....the worse things that can and could happen to these heroes. Bring on more multi-verse comics.
Oh shit you guys saying Eradicator Lois going to another Multiverse where Lois died instantly made me realize. If you put Eradicator Lois into the Injustice Universe with Injustice Superman...that would be a fucking incredible, dark, epic story.
yay more tales from the dark multiverse stories with death of superman this is going to be fun, also i wonder what would happen if Injustice superman met this version of lois lane as the eradicator.
To be fair, Lois' reaction is absolutely understandable. Superman helped the world so much and did so much to help the other heroes and everyone's treating his death like this self-aggrandizing thing, you know. With the statue and the military honors and everything. Like, he was just someone wanted to help; he was a simple character who wanted nothing more than to help and they made him into this circus of bullshit and she can't even have a second to mourn. To weep over the loss of someone she loved.
YO, this story was so great! I can’t believe I missed out on this story. Thank you for doing this story! I actually want to see someone do something with this Lois Lane. What a concept! Edit: I’d love for her to redeem herself meeting the in-continuity Superman. Then she can also apologize to the in-continuity Batman lol.
please do all the tales, I love seeing their reactions to these warped versions of big DC stories that they already have some sort of baseline knowledge of from previous back issues!
Eredicator Lois can fvcked up both prime earth Superman and Injustice Superman's mind. Jeff Loveness and Tom Taylor need to collab and give us that story.
When you guys get the chance, you should do Tales from the Dark Multiverse - Infinite Crisis. We are coming up on the 20th Anniversary of Infinite Crisis.
4:26 - At least in the animated adaptation this was corrected, and all of the League’s heavy hitters went up against Doomsday before Superman showed up.
The only thing I liked about the Death of Superman/Reign Of Supermen animated movies, was this singular change: The Justice League was the first response. They were destroyed so quickly by Doomsday that Superman's arrival is too late. He is alone because the A-listers were already taken down. Really raises the stakes.
By far the best Tales from the Dark Multiverse series. It didn't even need to be related to that Dark Multiverse series, it's just a good elseworld/what if story
This is my favorite, but I’m still excited for the rest of them! As for the logo, I think the death of Superman ‘S’ is kind of perfect had Superman stayed dead for a significant amount of time. It’s just unfortunate that his death was a bit of a gimmick to sell more books that kind of ruined death in comic books(supposedly, as I‘ve only been reading comics in the post-death world)
Yeah, ive always thought that they shouldve kept him dead for like maybe 5-7 years of publication, let the other supermen breathe and have their own stories. Then at the turn of the millennium, have a huge rollout for the Return of Superman.
Thank goodness for Back Issues with Sal and friends. I don't think I'll ever read these "Dark Multiverse" tales. Unless they get a deluxe hardcover and I can find one that's very cheap, lol.
I really enjoyed Judas Contract. In fact I thought this whole series was cool, would have loved to see a Dark Multiverse version of Under the Red Hood and The Court of Owls

You guys should change the lighting to black and red on the next dark multiverse episode. I would like to see a dark multiverse month or something. Sick stories
"noone cares about him except for his parents. 50% of which are dead"
75% if you wanna get technical
pedro mutti Superman’s Kryptonian parents
Soon...
Eradicator Lois: Clark?!
Injustice Superman: Lois?!
Both: But you're... Dead.
>Both Superman and Eradicator embrace in a emotional, passionate kiss.
Now there is a comic I would love to read. It would be great for character development.
Wonder Woman: *Seethes in background*
