The red star has been used so many times that it's virtually impossible to tell what it symbolizes to Joakim. If it was a red star with a yellow outline or a star with the hammer and sickle inside it I could understand that you would see it as communist. Everything from city flags in the USA to different nations' naval forces have used a red star.
