I saw your post in the FB group I am in and had to check you out- I lived in SD for 18 years and moved back east in 2000. I was surprised that you bypassed the first thrift shop so all I can assume is that the prices were high- those shelves of green vintage mixing bowls had me drooling along with a lot of other pieces! I never expected to see so many antique and early vintage pieces in a place like that. Here in NH they would go fast!
We used to go to the thrifty flea but it had a different name and the back room was full of furniture. Been to the hope ministries too but wow their prices. You got some goodies but surprised you passed that star pattern metal colander up for 75¢. Do you ever go to the Goodwill bins? We discovered there was one in cedar rapids too and I found some decent things there for really cheap. They only charge $1.49/#. Not sure about the one in Des Moines I haven't been there in forever.
I have been to the bins a couple times. I think you either love that place or you don't🤪 Thrifty Flea still has furniture in the back! But I do think the name changed with the new owner. Yes, I probably should have gotten that! It's been there the last 2 times I've gone!

Yeah, that candelabra’s price is one of the reasons I’ve almost completely stopped going to that Hope Ministry.
