@@GoldCaesar It takes a lot of psychology and the ability to control the situation. It was really smooth and I wouldn't have noticed if I haven't been watching him a lot.

If the person picked an even card you just pick the top card from the deck they were taking it from instead of the one they are dealing into their hand. That way you will always get the cue card.

How he interlaced or seperated the colors I can't remember. I think he did a card trick at the end to troll the group.
he's correcting an error of +1 on both sides by telling you which card to pick either the next card or the current, this allows him to control the result very easily since it's either a 9 or an 8, and the card will be a 9 or 8 if it's an odd card

Basically on both decks, you are telling them to reveal a card based on the fact if they drew out an odd or an even amount. Say the first person dealing, (which is the second half of the deck) delt 12, because it is even, you want them to reveal the card that was to be delt next. That way, they would pull out one of the 8's or 9's that you set you secretly set in a certain order in the deck. If it were odd, you would want them to reveal the card that had last been delt because it would reveal one of the 8's or 9's that secretly set in a certain order. Now since you put the chosen card (like the "Ace of Spades" in the first example) 8 cards after in the deck, you will be able to convince people that the 8 or 9 was an indicator of where the chosen card was in the first deck. If they drew a 9, you would have them place 8 cards in your hand and then reveal the chosen card which is next in the deck. If they drew an 8, you would have do the same, and no one would think "oh but the card was a 9 not an 8", BECAUSE 8 is still a relevant number in the trick because you had them place 8 cards in your hand.
Ford wasn't in on it. The very fact that people resort to that belief is testament to the lengths a magician will go to deceive the spectator. Procuring a card from a fruit is a known trick, and it requires a LOT of preparation.
***** Actually, it really doesn't. The card in the fruit wasn't the part that has me stumped, he probably just palmed it in. The fact that he knew what card Harrison would pick and had it removed from the deck before the fact was what got me.
Scarecrow545 Goggle "Card Forces" or just look for tutorials on you tube. There's plenty of ways to force a certain card on a person. Then you have that same card (a duplicate already in the fruit. The part I think Ford may have been in on was the piece of fruit he chose. I guess they could have put identical cards in every piece of fruit on the counter. Or they replaced every piece of fruit on the counter with ones with the pre selected "force card in them. Then swapped them all while DB distracted Ford. Anything is possible.
Nola213 I know what a force is. The fact that he asked Harrison to verbally tell him a card without his ever touching the deck pretty much makes it clear he couldn't have forced one (unless there was other stuff said or done off camera that we haven't seen). As for getting the card in the fruit, like I said, more likely he just palmed it in as he was separating the two halves.
I believe that you just switch which card they flip over. If it is odd, you flip the top card from the pile they dealt face down. When even the face up card is not 8 or 9, but the top card still in their hands is either 8 or 9. The number of cards dealt out dictates which pile to flip from for the indicator card. He kinda skimped on that part of the explanation, but that is why he asks them to be sure so they don't just flip the card from the pile they dealt down. Make sense?
I think the trick really happens when he explains it. Because regardless they keep landing on the correct card each time with 2 other cards they can't use.
At 4:11, let's say he stop at 10 an even number, then you would ask him if he is sure or wants to change his mind to ensure he doesn't flip the even card. Then you flip over the 11th card as if his 10 count was meant to reveal the 11th card. The same concept as the final part of the trick. It's a really easy trick but can be effective.
People that are confused on the second part. Blaine proposesly makes each even or odd card a 8 or 9 (so if the 2nd person choose a card that more than the 16th card, it wouldnt work). So when he asks the 2nd person to "stop", he can either choose the card that the person placed down or the next card, which will always be 8 or 9. The card the lady put on was the 9th position on her spilt, so he can say either the 8th or 9th position is her card (flip 8 cards and then say next card is hers or flip 8 cards and then say the 9th is hers).
I was lost the first time but watchin it the second time i felt silly cos its so easy to understand then, hes basically planting the indicator card as an 8 and planting the card the woman picks in the 8th position of the pile

Simply the best at what he does, David Blaine and Ricky Jay, two of the best , RIP Ricky Jay, Keep it up Mr Blaine, we need your magic now more than ever.....
For people who dont get it, i had to watch it twice. David Blame plants the Ace/Target Card, 8 spots away in the first deck. Then in the other hand he is controlling the outcome on what card gets drawn to get an 8 or 9. And he will use that to count in the first deck.
Its actually his cool dude demeanor which is so off putting, he is extremely intelligent and always his mind is working on how to make the trick possible. But yet his outlook is so relaxed that you wouldn't think a person that calculative and smart is interacting with you.
that's not gonna happen because all the people around you are waiting for you to stop. So you have a higher chance of picking a card in first 10. This is why the bigger the public the easier the trick.
Chris Pecoraro you could use the jokers, leave them on top, and if by chance they pick one the the top two cards just say " well those don't count, the card has to have a value, my mistake. I forgot those were in there" Or use 9s and 10 and face cards stating that the face cards are all worth 10....just an idea.
He explains it at the very end of the video. Basically you keep track of the cards when they are being dealt. So at all times, there will be an 8 or 9 available in which you would instruct the person to flip (either on top of the deck or on their palms).
You would make the same move as the reveal of the card...So if they stop on the "even" card, you have them turn over the card with the odd card on top (this might be the pile being dealt on the table or the pile in the hands of the spectator)...For instance, if they were dealing and they stop with the 8 or 9 in their hands (you know where the 8 or 9 will be) then you turn over that pile, if they stop and the 8 or 9 is in the pile that has been dealt then you turn over that one and go from there
@MegaAlena1234 No, watch when he does it the first time, after the guy is done counting out the cards onto that guys hand, David asks him if he's sure, and he says no and counts one more, then David takes the card from the counters hand, not from the pile he just dealt. So, since every OTHER card is an 8 or 9, the card on top of either pile will be an 8 or 9, you just have to be sure to take the top card from the correct pile.
Those confused with the 8 and 9 thing here is a simple step by step instruction, way hope u get it you remember David placed one random card between 8s and 9s like eg: 8 hearts, A clubs, 8 diamonds, 3 hearts, 8 spades, 7 diamonds, 8 clubs, 2 hearts, 9 clubs, J diamond, 9 hearts, Q spades, 9 spades, 4 club, 9 diamond, K diamond Memorise the pattern and say the dude starts dropping cards lets say in the sequence from the example I gave (start from 8 hearts) stops somewhere at 2 hearts (see my example) now U know you cant use the last card he dropped right? so what you do.. you make the next card (the last one he didn't drop) which is a 9 clubs (see example) and Yes u positioned it in a way that after 8 cards you tell them to show the card right? but since its 9 just say pick the 9th card. Again if it was an 8 then say pick the card after 8 cards,
The counting of the cards is for the magician/performer, because he knows where the 8's/9's are.. As he said, odd ones on the pile are the que cards (indicator card) 8's/9's.
Its awesome, the key here is that on 3:11, he places whatever your card is on the 8th place of that deck. Then on the 2nd half of the deck there are four 8's and four 9's in the odd positions eg: 2 8* 4 9* 5 8* 11 8* 7 9* etc... So, as long as they stop at 16 (or 17) then there's bound to be an 8 or a 9 there. and voila!
@JamesGrant700 Take the top card from the OTHER pile. If they count out an odd number of cards, the 8/9 will be on top of the pile that they just dealt (i.e. the guy's hand that was used as a table) but if they stop on an even number take from the top of the pile that the counter is still holding (i.e. the dude in the sports coat) at any given time there will be an 8/9 on top of one of the decks just take from the correct deck. It's all about counting and PRETENDING you're choosing randomly
Where did you hear that? I've been a magician for many years and we reveal tricks all the time. We do NOT reveal them during performances (except Penn & Teller) or to casual observers who just want to know how it's done. Posting them on UA-cam allows those of us who want to learn to do so without spending a fortune.
The entire trick relies on odds and evens and counting, reason why he uses 8s & 9s is because he gets to choose which card the spectator will choose when they’re counting the one in their hand or the top card that’s counted
look you need to count like if you start putting the cards from the second position of the deck then it would be on a even number but the spectator puts odd cards down then you pick from the portion of his hand thus being the even number
When the cards are dealt in the had (the pack with the 8 and 9) you think to yourself the cards being dealt are either yes or no. For each card deal the swap which it is, starting with no. So say they place a card down, you say in your head "no". Then yes, then no etc. When they stop is when you make the decision. If it's a yes they finish on, it's the card they dealt. If not, it's the card on the packet that hasn't been death you want
because he prepares the cue cards(8 and 9's) and puts them in the odd number count position. So when the person stops his count like on a even count like 10, he would then ask him to turn over the next card which is 11(odd) in the count which is where a cue card will be found.
BTW when I was younger I was in the hospital and a magician came by. He did a card trick a few times in front of us in a sofa after the stage show. I thought about how he did it, later that night I woke up and I knew. The trick was that he handed you "18" cards and asked you to count them. 18. Then he asked you to sit on them or in some way make it impossible for him to reach them. Then he added three magic cards. Then he asked you to count them again. 21. Did this trick on a stage once. Worked.
The real trick happens when he's explaining the first trick. In particular, he gets both of them to pick the 8 of clubs. That can't be done using the method of the first trick.
I have a problem with this trick. Since when they take part deck it isn't a exact science so there are 4 or 5, etc. extra cards at the end of the mixed deck and it never fails when the person is putting down the key cards they always wait until the end to call it quits and by then there are no more 8-9s left but just "extra" cards.
@NeoBlackProtocall you keep count. if he deals out an odd number, use the one of the top that he dealt out to. if he stops on an even number. use the next card in his hand. same concept as 'if you choose 8 that's good, but 9 is even better' - multiple outs
I guess if you stop on an even number you go for the card on the top of the dealing deck while if it's odd you go for the card on the deck you set the cards on.
To quote "Big Bang Theory", then you would be "attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis" Screwed. If i remember correctly he asked her to cut a little less then half, half being 52/2=26. Then if you calculate that the counter wont count to the end of his deck you should be in the clear.
That's why you need to say cut off less than half of the cards at the beginning, so they should cut off less than 25 cards to begin with. They're more likely to stop within 16 cards that way.
than u say turn the first card (from the pile in his hand)and it will be an indicator card, if its an odd number than he turns the card from the pile that is not in his hand
Omg besides him teaching a fan This Is the first time ever I seen him explain one of his go to tricks let alone a trick cuz he is not one to do that wow I been s DB fan since the mid 90s when he came on the seen and I'm a magician cant believe I just found this video so late lol and cant believe he gave this one away lol I think its hella dope learning from 1 of the best

For people who dont get it, i had to watch it twice. David Blame plants the Ace/Target Card, 8 spots away in the first deck.
Then in the other hand he is controlling the outcome on what card gets drawn to get an 8 or 9. And he will use that to count in the first deck.
the sound effects at the beginning and in the end..
it was like a music from a superman movie lolss
Great video editing
Its actually his cool dude demeanor which is so off putting, he is extremely intelligent and always his mind is working on how to make the trick possible. But yet his outlook is so relaxed that you wouldn't think a person that calculative and smart is interacting with you.
I'm wondering that too. He didn't quite explain what would happen if the guy had stopped sooner or kept going.
So I get it but what if they go past the first 16 cards then you're screwed...
that's not gonna happen because all the people around you are waiting for you to stop. So you have a higher chance of picking a card in first 10. This is why the bigger the public the easier the trick.
Chris Pecoraro you could use the jokers, leave them on top, and if by chance they pick one the the top two cards just say " well those don't count, the card has to have a value, my mistake. I forgot those were in there"
Or use 9s and 10 and face cards stating that the face cards are all worth 10....just an idea.
8 years and I still don't get it.
5:10 disappearing trick
He explains it at the very end of the video. Basically you keep track of the cards when they are being dealt. So at all times, there will be an 8 or 9 available in which you would instruct the person to flip (either on top of the deck or on their palms).
All I can see is the glare on the forehead of the girl in the back
😂
Now I can’t unsee it.
You would make the same move as the reveal of the card...So if they stop on the "even" card, you have them turn over the card with the odd card on top (this might be the pile being dealt on the table or the pile in the hands of the spectator)...For instance, if they were dealing and they stop with the 8 or 9 in their hands (you know where the 8 or 9 will be) then you turn over that pile, if they stop and the 8 or 9 is in the pile that has been dealt then you turn over that one and go from there
I love their reactions, must be a CPA company.
It looks like it's Esquire magazine HQ.
Whoa you're comment is from 5 years ago!

Boring crowd
Mr Blaine is Kind hearted too, Very COMPASSIONATE.. Tooo 🙏
Those confused with the 8 and 9 thing here is a simple step by step instruction, way hope u get it
you remember David placed one random card between 8s and 9s like eg: 8 hearts, A clubs, 8 diamonds, 3 hearts, 8 spades, 7 diamonds, 8 clubs, 2 hearts, 9 clubs, J diamond, 9 hearts, Q spades, 9 spades, 4 club, 9 diamond, K diamond
Memorise the pattern and say the dude starts dropping cards lets say in the sequence from the example I gave (start from 8 hearts) stops somewhere at 2 hearts (see my example) now U know you cant use the last card he dropped right? so what you do.. you make the next card (the last one he didn't drop) which is a 9 clubs (see example) and Yes u positioned it in a way that after 8 cards you tell them to show the card right? but since its 9 just say pick the 9th card. Again if it was an 8 then say pick the card after 8 cards,
thanks man
Thank you
Really neat editing Esquire
That's amazing. I still barely know how this is done.
That one guy not smiling at 2:08 knows what's up
I still don't get it, so the second time was he not suppose count 11 cards revealing the card but he still stopped at 8 cards wth 🤔
The counting of the cards is for the magician/performer, because he knows where the 8's/9's are.. As he said, odd ones on the pile are the que cards (indicator card) 8's/9's.
It's very cool to see David Blaine reveal a trick.
Still didn't understand.
Its awesome, the key here is that on 3:11, he places whatever your card is on the 8th place of that deck. Then on the 2nd half of the deck there are four 8's and four 9's in the odd positions eg: 2 8* 4 9* 5 8* 11 8* 7 9* etc... So, as long as they stop at 16 (or 17) then there's bound to be an 8 or a 9 there. and voila!
@@missionpupa What should I do if the audience stoped at the wrong sequence when she is counting the indicators?
@JamesGrant700 Take the top card from the OTHER pile. If they count out an odd number of cards, the 8/9 will be on top of the pile that they just dealt (i.e. the guy's hand that was used as a table) but if they stop on an even number take from the top of the pile that the counter is still holding (i.e. the dude in the sports coat) at any given time there will be an 8/9 on top of one of the decks just take from the correct deck. It's all about counting and PRETENDING you're choosing randomly
A magician never reveals their tricks.
Its a garbage for him.
How's that possible?
Unless you are Penn & Teller
Where did you hear that? I've been a magician for many years and we reveal tricks all the time. We do NOT reveal them during performances (except Penn & Teller) or to casual observers who just want to know how it's done. Posting them on UA-cam allows those of us who want to learn to do so without spending a fortune.
u kidding? THEIR trick, not other tricks that he might have learned
00:33 the indian chick is like "I approve" LMFAOO perfect reaction
😂omfg im dying
Maybe some nasty riff was going through her mind :D
hahaha
The women in red at 4:58 did not get it ahahaha
+Gorzchno maybe when you see it the first time you get lost, but then is fine
Lmao she was lost as fuck
The entire trick relies on odds and evens and counting, reason why he uses 8s & 9s is because he gets to choose which card the spectator will choose when they’re counting the one in their hand or the top card that’s counted
I understand the trick but how does he know they well stop on an 8 or nine? he said it himself one more card and it could have been a 6
then hed pick the card on top of the deck instead of the ones he placed down already. i had this question too
look you need to count like if you start putting the cards from the second position of the deck then it would be on a even number but the spectator puts odd cards down then you pick from the portion of his hand thus being the even number
Worked.
I rather he DID NOT explain it , cause he made it more complicated . Gotta give him credit for fucking with our minds.
mickavellian u must be slow
LOL - And you are so fucking GAY Tinkerbell. LOOK at the pic. Einstein you are not
The real trick happens when he's explaining the first trick. In particular, he gets both of them to pick the 8 of clubs. That can't be done using the method of the first trick.
What if the guy wanted to count down to the very last card in his hand and it was a King for instance? He's way past the 8s and 9s - what then?
ThePubliusValerius You knock him out and stare at everyone else in silence.
David Blaine explained it and still everyone was like “how tf you do that”?
So what if someone just picks the even card and won't budge?
I’m even more convinced it’s magic. 🤷🏼♂️🤔
Lol!!
The girl on the left behind him looks lost and disgusted 😂
the woman was thinking "wait so J is eleven?"
still didn't get it. how'd I end up.....nvm
@NeoBlackProtocall you keep count. if he deals out an odd number, use the one of the top that he dealt out to. if he stops on an even number. use the next card in his hand. same concept as 'if you choose 8 that's good, but 9 is even better' - multiple outs
and imagine the guy put more then 16 cards in the table when i ask if he want put more cards? (sry for my inglish)
+LePk Adrenaline card tricks is luck!! its improvising on the road... 16 cards are a loootttt when he is at 12 try to get him to stop soon
+LePk Adrenaline when he gets to about 11 you say something like ANYTIME
thanks dude's
I guess if you stop on an even number you go for the card on the top of the dealing deck while if it's odd you go for the card on the deck you set the cards on.
don't watch this stoned ...i'll be awake for hours thinking about this bollocks ..i need to sleep now
581mitch just did and I'm so confused
What happens if the person counting out the cards goes past the 16 preset cards in the indicator deck?
To quote "Big Bang Theory", then you would be "attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis" Screwed. If i remember correctly he asked her to cut a little less then half, half being 52/2=26. Then if you calculate that the counter wont count to the end of his deck you should be in the clear.
What if she didn't choose the 8th card?
If he would't change his mind if it wasent an 8 he could say that the card on top of the deck is the card he had chosen instead of the card on table.
It doesn't matter because if they had an even in their hand and they didn't want to change it they took the top card (the even) from the other pile.
Are you really asking this? He explained the trick!!!
That's why you need to say cut off less than half of the cards at the beginning, so they should cut off less than 25 cards to begin with. They're more likely to stop within 16 cards that way.
This is just math
Nah it's physics
MK no it's british literature.
***** no its illuminati
nah..it just science
+Faris Gazali nah.. it is just a setup
I still didn’t quite understand it but bravo to him. I’ll be seeing some of his videos.
what?????
than u say turn the first card (from the pile in his hand)and it will be an indicator card,
if its an odd number than he turns the card from the pile that is not in his hand
As long as they don't count higher than like 16 your good.
just dont pick a smart ass xD
Mike J something I do is put 7's at the end and if they go that far then I do a double lift ( lift 2 cards as 1) then let them continue counting
Saints WhoDat Smart!
This is fucking awesome! I want more videos of David explaining his tricks, not these lame videos of a guys hands NOT doing the same trick.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. DEMONS!!!
If the target counts out an odd number of cards, the card in your hand is the indicator card. If you count out an even number, the indicator card is next in the deck and you just grab that one.
