I mean, they have to know how much money they would make. And it would cost comparatively little to emulate and upscale the originals. Hell, there's already working PC versions for each. High res assets are already available. Most of their work is already done for them.
Right there with you dude! Every port exclusive feature, all bonus costumes, all bonus weapons, the Tick in RE1, EX Files in RE2, the Hunter R corpse in the Culture Room of RE2! I still have it on my PS3, but still, I know everyone doesn't have that accessibility. So excited for The Keeper's Diary, but Konami doing something for us before Capcom with RE? Seriously, they need to get it together!
Been saying this for a while now and this is why I enjoy your streams and vids. Once again you are absolutely right and it’s so good to have someone like you as a voice to push for projects like these & keepers for fans like myself. As much as I love playing new RE games &/or remakes- nothing beats coming back to the originals💪🏼. I’ve been playing RE since 1996 and I still get those survival horror vibes and would love to see it on my seriesX. Great vid 👏🏼👏🏼
I completely agree with you its definitely time for a classic collection the old games are better I miss the pre rendered backgrounds tank controls fixed camera Angles
With the popularity of the original 3 & in my opinion Code Veronica I can’t believe this hasn’t happened sooner. I really hope we get to play the originals again 🤞🏼
Man like you mentioned I would be super happy just having RE2 and 3 on PS+ I have requested it on both capcoms page and playstation for like a year. I think Capcom gets nervous becuase they fucked up cannon on the series. The originals were done so much better especially 2 where at least Leon and Claire run in to each other and things you did in A you didn't do in B. Then 3 God it's a full different game.
Personally if i was capcoms marketing team : id announc the remastered trilogy collection about a month before the 30th anniversary to get the older fans esp hyped and focused on me and not other gaming companies..then on july 26th 2026 id announce RE1 reimagined, causin the whole fanbase to panic outta pure hype, and b the talk of the town for a very long time
In my opinion, and I've thought a fair bit about this, while it would be cool to have a classics collection, at least on PC we already have the SourceNext ports which, with easily accessible fan patches, work wonders and looks specially great with the Seamless HD Project. After years of playing with these ports for 1, 2 and 3, a modding community has been formed and they built a very convenient modding framework for both modders and users; installing and launching different mods is so easy, I fear this versatility wont carry over to new modern ports of these games and, in the end, they'll be nothing more than a cool portrait on our Steam Library. Yes, it's true, there's no legal means to get these SourceNext ports, but there IS means to get them and it's not hard. I imagine this channel wouldn't want to promote it, but to be real, it's super easy to get a hold of these games, patch them up and get them running, just so everyone knows, and the difference between playing the PC ports and PSX emulation is night and day really. Let's be real; we'd be content with whatever boneless ports we could get, we'd by them, that's how we are, and I personally don't expect them to do a Tomb Raider kind of remaster IF they ever made a Classics Collection with the original trilogy, so once we get them we'd probably just play them for the Achievements and then choose to go back to the more community developed SourceNext ports.
The PC versions from sourcenext are considered abandonware. It is not really illegal or considered piracy to download them. And I really like the rebirth patches for those, it really makes the perfect remaster imo, so I agree we would play the collection and go back to the old pc release. But the collection would be really nice for ppl on consoles though
They have Directors Cut on the Playstation Classics, You have to have Premium Plus Extra for it though. No trophy data either. It's the only available port we have right now and I don't see anyone talking about it. I would LOVE a trophy update to it. Like what they did with Ape Escape on the store as well.
I think these should be up to a good standard, basic ports are not enough, as the aforementioned MGS Master Collection basically proved (MGS1 is literally just in a super basic emulator with little in the was of video options). Preservation while Enhance for the modern hardware, improve the past rather than just show it, Nightdive has the right idea the moment I saw Turok 1 & 2. We should expect source ports to hold up to that standard or we risk seeing quality like Silent Hill HD Collection.
DMC got an HD collection on the PS3/4 I don’t see why Capcom can’t do this. I’m with you, I would love if they gave the original trilogy in any form on the current Gen/ steam. Full blown remaster or simple port.
Agreed there should be a Classic Collection. At the very least put them on the PS network. I thought when RE directors cut was added to the ps network the others would follow but sadly that didn't happen.
Capcom is seriously leaving money on the table with such an easy money opportunity. Even if they did a 1 to 1 port and not an HD project, RE fans would be happy. Anything would be better than nothing
All these playstation collections coming out like Tomb Raider, Metal Gear, MVC, there are tons more. No reason for Capcom not to trump the other companies with a Resident Evil collection . All ps1 classics and versions on one physical disc will be a dream. Please no half downloads and rest on disc 😂. Either way im stoked for this if it became reality.
It's bizarre to me that this hasn't been done already, for Capcom, it's money left on the table, fans would snap it up. I have heard they don't have all the files to those original games so it might take some actual work on their part, but the same was true of Tomb Raider, they had to reverse engineer a lot of it for the remasters.
although I think the resident evil rebirth patches is technically a perfect remaster of the older games, it seems to me like wasted profit from capcom for not re-releasing the 3 first title. These 3 games (RE 1-2-3) are abandonware (on PC) so they are free to download and maybe thats why they dont care too much, but ppl on consoles dont have access to that. Theres also the problem of which version should they re-release, for example, the PC version of RE1 is the only version that was release in the west without censorship and intro in colour, and they keep the gory credit scene when you unlock the rocket launcher. All version have different extra costumes that other versions doesnt. The perfect remaster would be to consolidate all of these into one perfect version for each games. But imo that would be asking much, a simple re-release of the PC version would be the best, with bug fixed.
Really wish they would be on steam. I would be happy for a remaster too where you can switch between old and new graphics. The remake is great but I still like to play the originals again, but sadly too much hassle to get it to run on a modern system and sadly I no longer have the discs.
@@barbe00brune True. Can't recall seeing any of them on GOG. Not that I'm too frequently on GOG as Steam is my preferred platform. Regardless, just seeing any of these titles on either platform would be great.
@@barbe00brune Looks like it. Although they can cash in on it regardless. Heck, I wish so much for Dino Crisis. Sadly, I don't think this will ever happen. Unless they are planing for an anniversary version since they are apparently working on a 1 remake. Again.
let me tell you my opinion on this i would be very happy for all the Resident Evil games including Survivor on modern platforms but need to be completely remastered, lets be honest RE1 Director's Cut on the PS5 looks absolutely terrible and for today standars that not acceptable, RE SEAMLESS is beautiful they should do the same level as that version simple as that.
I'm so tired of remakes/reimaginings/whatever they are. I don't care about Ethan Winters or the other new releases. I just want my beloved old games -- RE1-3 and the two Chronicles games -- on modern platforms.
I don't feel like it would be all that necessary solely for the reason that if you experienced the classics, you're likely pushing 30 something - 40 years old, and at that age if you're too stupid to find the Sourcenext file, then there's no helping you in a lot of other areas in life as well. That said, I feel like there would be fan backlash if they didn't touch up the backgrounds at least a little bit or added some fresh content, I definitely would not care about a straight, barebones port because I have the Dreamcast RE2 and RE3 already.
As a huge fan of Resident Evil, we really want the classics collection!!!! Deserves re-releases!!
What are your thoughts? Drop a LIKE for a Potential Resident Evil CLASSICS Collection!
Hells yes I would play this collection on my PS4 or Steam no joke. Even if it was also by limited run games, I would still buy it in a heart beat.
I literally wouldn't be a gamer if it wasn't for resident evil
We have to have a Resident Evil Classics Collection.
We have one on GOG right now 👍

I'd buy the shit out of a classics collection lol 1 - 3, outbreak #1 & 2

Yes Re2 and 3 classic HD is a must . I don't consider the remakes what we all want...RE remastered.

The half-in half-out approach for PS Plus premium trophy support is so shite.
I've been asking Capcom this since 2018.

NIGHTDIVE STUDIOS.

Capcom must not like money because a classic collection would be an instant buy from me.
