Amazingly enough, Lewis is correct - the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by Princep did lead to WW1. And the main grievance that Hitler had was Germany losing that war and how it was treated. He blamed communists and Jewish people for surrendering in WW1.
And Franz Ferdinand was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne.
