Weird. How people are mocking Rachel for sweeping and mopping daily! I am an Indian and we sweep and mop our homes everyday :) It's an excellent practice to keep home clean and dust free :)

I clean all my stainless appliances with vinegar and water, and then I oil it (yes, oil it!). I take a little bit of olive oil and rub it in, then I buff it out. It works wonders!!! And keeps fingerprints at bay for a couple of weeks.

This was uploaded a long time ago, but I’m just seeing it now. When I was in basic training for the Air Force, we had stainless steel stalls. They gave us a specific cleaner for it, but it always left streaks and we kept getting demerits for it. One day we went to the mini mart on base for toiletries, and someone there told us to use baby oil. It worked like a charm. The stalls looked brand new.

Ecloths are life-changing! The duo for windows & glass, especially. I always had trouble with streaking and lint no matter what I tried. The ecloth leaves everything sparkling, and the great thing is you only use water with them- NO MORE CLEANSERS, EVER. I only wish they were made of natural fibers, but I'm willing to compromise since I no longer have to contribute to plastic waste (from packaging of cleanser bottles, gloves, etc.).

    • @oOdancingmachineOo
      @oOdancingmachineOo 7 років тому +5

They do one for stainless steel as well! I personally haven't tried that one yet, but there are tons of videos on UA-cam demonstrating just how well they clean. All of their cloths clean grease, fingerprints, etc., and remove over 99% bacteria with just water. You can find them on Amazon, I bought mine at Sur La Table. :)

My go to product for stainless steel is a furniture polish. Specifically, Orange Glo. It's not only good for wood furniture, but is also amazing on stainless steel. No smears, and totally shiny. And the polish helps keep dust from settling. Plus, it smells great.
In my experience, the metal scrubber you use to clean your sink is rather abrasive. Over time the finish on metal sinks break down. Scrubbing it with an abrasive item will only progress the process.

I recently discovered Norwex cleaning cloths. They have a cloth specifically for glass and it has changed my life! I use it on all my stainless steel (you don't use any cleaner with it, just water! The cloth is infused with silver which is naturally antibacterial!) It kills all the germs and makes my stainless steel look like new! I wipe down my steel every couple days and that's it!

Stainless steel suggestion: mist with water and vinegar solution, wipe. Then polish with a soft cloth and some baby oil on it, just a few drops. This method will become your new favorite. :-)
Stovetop solution: mist with vinegar/water , gently sprinkle w/ baking soda. Let sit for 5 min, gently scrub with a sponge.

I'm a thirty-three-year-old man and I vacuum almost daily. There are six of us in the house and we have six animals (two dogs and four cats) so there's never ending vacuuming, laundry and garbage to take out. I like the mop you have, I have a Bissell steam mop model 1940. It does a pretty decent job. The vacuum you have is sufficient for your floors. If you have very little carpeting or rugs, a canister is best. I have hardwood, tile and vinyl, but big area rugs in each room. I have three vacuum cleaners: a vintage Kirby from 1959 that I completely rebuilt, a Kirby Diamond Edition with all attachments, floor polisher and shampooer, and a Royal all-metal upright.

I try to limit my products & don't want to spend a ton on them, but at the same time I want them to work. So I use $1 store rubbing alcohol for stainless steel, faucets, windows and mirrors in a small spray bottle. That alcohol smell doesn't last long at all and it works great! I like that it can be used for cuts and scrapes, cleaning my phone but can also be for the house as well. It serves so many purposes which is why I stock up on it when I do make a run to the dollar store.
I also use a natural dish soap with dishes of course, but also mix that equal parts with vinegar. I sponge that on the shower doors, all over the shower and bath tub then wait a bit. All the hard water stains (orange when I haven't cleaned it in awhile) comes right off with VERY little work. It's also a cheap mixture that serves several purposes. For counter tops I use equal parts white vinegar/ water with essential oils. Now as a mom who cloth diapered I became sold on how well vinegar worked when it completely removed any odors from the diapers when they needed stripped every few months! Those smells are no joke, but neither is vinegar.
The only things I spend a bit more on is furniture polish as we have a lot of dark wood in the home and I dust everyday (You have to with a toddler, 3 dogs and 4 cats inside the home, but I enjoy our lifestyle and don't mind cleaning up after them!) Also stain remover as I use cloth pads and like to keep them super white.
I also make homemade laundry soap, depending on how much time I have it's either a powder or liquid. Both are under $5 and the liquid makes 5 gallons of extra strength. I love the smell and it it works great. I have kitchen rags, rags to clean the vehicles out, rags to wipe down our goats udders when they're milked, and I also use cloth pads because I hate spending money on things I cannot reuse! They are also more comfortable and I use them in conjunction with a Super Jennie cup.

The brand Method, has a stainless steel cleaner that works pretty well. To be honest it isn't as good as Weimans but it's a more natural option to make using the other less frequent.

Love my Shark steamer! Swear by it! My friend was so kind and gifted us our 1st one as a baby shower gift. Sadly, it died a few months back. But!, my husband found a refurbished one on Amazon. Works like a brand new one with a MUCH smaller price tag. Exactly the same, but the silver is just gray. I have to say, the pads it came with are a little better. They're more microfiber vs. shag. But, we now have extra cover and head. Winning!!!

When you clean stainless steel, always clean in the direction of the lines and not in circular motions to avoid damaging/scratching your appliances. Also, I'm not sure if you heated it but when you use a stovetop cleaner you have to warm up the stove to loosen anything that may be dried up or stuck. Love your videos 🤗

This might sound a little crazy but with our son, we did a countdown to no more diapers for about a week. Then on that Saturday, we said that was it, took off the diaper, and held him on the potty seat once an hour. He was potty trained by Monday! Good luck!!

I use two "natural" options to clean my stainless steel and it works great. The first one I use is a 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol. I put it in a small spray bottle, spray it all over the fridge and let it sit for a good 5 minutes. Once the time is up wipe off. The other option I use is a 50/50 vinegar/water mix and it works just as well, but sometimes the smell is over powering. If my appliances have anything gross on them I will add a squirt of soap to both of the mixtures and it will help clean sticky things. I also use microfiber cloths to wipe my appliances this helps with finger prints. Hope this works for you!

Kirby’s last for ever my mom had one for 20 years, 4 kids and 3 dogs. She only got rid of it to upgrade to a new one. I’ve had mine for 10 years and it works perfectly even with kids and an indoor bunny that sheds like crazy. They can be expensive if you buy new but you can find used ones that work great for fairly cheap.

I get a clean rag an wer it whit tap water and just clean off any dirt etc off of the fridge once its clean you will notice it doesn't look clean lol then you get another dry rag put some olive oil, coconut oil or your favorite oil and start rubbing it on the steel and it will look amazing!

Lemon oil for stainless steel! Apply it to a cloth, polish the stainless steel, and then use a clean cloth to buff in the excess. My mom and I use lemon oil for wood furniture and stainless steel. We saw something about how you only need lemon oil, Krud Kutter, and white vinegar for cleaning, and that has worked great for us.

your "natural" products aren't as natural as you think a little less " harmfull' as your stainless steel cleaner but definitely not natural. if you are wearing gloves and mask for the stainless steel cleaner for it being unnatural you're gonna have to use it for all the products you shown as well. Anything made in factory is not natural doesn't matter how they word it or what they say nothing natural has a shelf life and chemical in general are always " harmful"

I clean houses as a part time job in addition to my full time job. the secret to stainless steel is to polish with a microfiber cloth and always go with the grain. To clean I use either LA's totally awesome cleaner from Dollar tree (absolutely amazing cleaner) or a mixture of vinegar and water. Do not use essential oils or dish soap on stainless steel. After cleaning polish with a microfiber cloth and it will be shiny and bright without harsh cleaners.

A good tip for that stainless steel chemical (from years of cleaning them at work) spray the rag a damp rag first, you can try with a dry rag since that’s a different product, but the damp rag is what keeps it streak free and applying to the rag and not the surface reduces the odor and amount used.
