Well into the lock down, Naveen and I are back for another episode where we cover what we have been doing at home and coming to terms with all this extra time we have. While most of it goes into house work, It's also leaving a lot of room for self reflection. Had a lot of fun exploring the topic of the supernatural (something that I love picking Naveen's brains about) and also why we despise cats so much.

I wasn't the biggest fan of podcasts until your episodes came out, I started watching them and can't stop now. This is just a simple appreciation for your effort and the hard work that you put in to each one of these episodes. Apart from the content, that is amazing in itself, I really really like how genuine you are in these. Celebrities often sugar coat their lives and the truth. I like how you have been brutally honest about a lot of things through these series.

I'm a neuropsychiatrist in Bangalore. I had a patient who complained that he saw objects move. During our session in my office, as my clinical eye was trained to do, I gave him a diagnosis of schizophrenia and asked him to followup.
After he left, the nurse walked into the examination room to give me more patient files. While I looked into them, she asked me why the bookshelf stacked with books upside down. I didn't leave my seat so there was no way anybody could have meddled with the shelf. We checked CCTV footage to see if anyone had broken in, but everything looked eerily calm.
This patient never turned up again and my hospital tried to trace the contact back, but never got through.
I'm 27 now and it still gives me goosebumps when I revisit the events of that day. While we're trained to maintain a scientific temperament, even (or moreso) healthcare workers encounter things science cannot explain.
I try putting on a strong face and stride into hospitals during the lockdown. We're only human, afterall.😊

What you said about Ryan George yesterday is what I'd like to say because it genuinely fits the best. THANK YOU FOR MAKING LONELY DAYS AWESOME. 'Nicely watched off' all of the simple ken episodes and your previous stand up clips, chai times, the Amazon special and Sketchy Behaviour again during this lockdown time. All of it somehow made me a little less anxious, it is the only time in the day when I really smile and I can't thank you enough for that.
Simple Ken has a beautiful sense of calm about it. We all love the side of you that does comedy but this side of yours is just so so so calming , we can literally listen to you speak for hours . This long recording of your talking never feels like it is long. 💜💜

Naveen can give better TED talks than comedy shows (Edit: Apparently he has). Not diminishing his comedy. Just saying he has much more clarity in life than most of us do. My respect for him has grown immensely since the last 2 episodes.

Kenny, there are sweet and good cats, we had our cat before it even opened his eyes and I believe the first person he saw was my sister and he can't live without her. My sister went for sleepover at my cousins place and my cat was so sad that he didn't eat and he was laying on her school bag cause he missed her so much.

My 'almost horror experience' this one time I went to a inter college fest with friends, the campus was huge and we were heading to the girls hostel at night talking about a suicide that took place in one of the hostel rooms, we were finding out which room was allotted to us, turns out we were the only ones on that floor with just a yellow bulb and suddenly when we were about to keep our stuff the doors of one of the other room opened and we heard this real CRAZY noise started coming the one that you hear in horror movies more like a ghost doing opera, we were all freaked out two of my friends started running out of that floor and me and my other friend were frantically locking the door before we run, while all this was happening I was only thinking about "how all this can be real!!"
As we headed out we saw a bunch of girls from Western Music society who were practicing their vocals all this long- that's where the weird noise was coming from.
So, I think it's the state of mind of a person if you are thinking about negative things everything around you starts looking negative and vice versa.

Better Locked Down, than "Knocked down"😆
Scary story from real life. When I first started working, I moved with a friend to Meenakshi temple in a 2BHK just behind a .... grave. but the house was super clean and the rent was low so we took it. No issues for 3 months, and then one night we were having chicken tikka and some beeeers, 1 tikka fell down and my friend covered it with a steel bowl because we were too lazy to clean it at that moment. Next day we woke up, that bowl had nothing inside it. it was gone and we dont even have cats. we were spooked.

Hey this was an eerie experience my friend had.. so she used to live in Austin town in banglore and there's a railway track nearby
Her uncle used to work the night shift sometimes and once while he on his way back early morning (he had to cross the track to get home) he saw his house maid picking up the track stones and when he questioned her as to why she's picking it up she didn't reply and he just called her crazy and went home. The next day he told my friend and her grandmother about it he got to know that the lady had died around 6 pm the previous day! He was absolutely petrified. I'm honestly still scared to go there.
When I was a kid my family went to someone's house and I was talking to their grand mother when I got called to the drawing room and asked who I was talking to, I didn't know that but she had died recently.
I can also see and feel energy clouds and a couple of times I saw them take shapes of my family members before something bad happened to them.
( I'm not a religious person nor do I believe in ghosts, so i thought I was hallucinating, checked in with the doctors, therapists. I'm perfectly normal but there's no explanation to why I see what I see. )
In the Doctor's words: we can't explain everything, we can only speculate.

#simpleken Hi Kenny, how important is it to be an extrovert if your career is in the art & media field? I'm 28 years old but I still cannot talk and connect to people at a personal level. The few friends I had have all alienated from me and I feel that I come across as very boring and uninteresting to people. This has affected my career since I rely upon making connections with people to land my next gig.
Thank you for whatever you're doing in these videos, it's one of the few things that's keeping me sane at this point in life. You're an inspiration, God bless.

I feel what you're saying. I understand that it may seem to you that extroverts connect with people more but introversion and sociability are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
Picking up social skills can start with something as simple as being able to make small talk. Even that might seem like a Herculean task but baby steps are the way to go. Imagine you're in a cafe and you want to approach someone. You need to observe them and guess what they'd be interested in talking about. Starting with something generic and then proceeding according to the cues they give is the best way to go.
To connect with someone, you need to establish common ground and maybe share an anecdote or two.
As an introvert, you may have the ability to read people even though you may not be able to freely interact with them. Use this to your advantage to build rapport.
r/socialskills is a good place to start if you need to work on your social skills.
. So here’s a handy trick that I use when connecting with people. Ask questions. It’s that simple most effective conversationalists are
The ones who ask questions. In all my years in the media I have found that people love talking about themselves. Also pay attention to what they say and be genuinely interested in what they do and who they are. That should usually do the trick. And like Kenny rightly pointed outExtroversion is a skill that can be practiced and improved upon.

There's an episode called "God Mind" (or something similar, season 3-4, I guess) of this Nat Geo (Hotstar Disney+) show called "Brain games". Watch it if you can, that'll explain the 'energies' and why things are spooky, eyrie or positive. I can't comment about Naveen's experience exactly, but that episode would explain most! Also, I heard this episode of "Simple Ken PODCAST" at 3 in the morning :)
