I also want to say that I like the idea of painting in the old book. I have one set aside but haven't tried it yet. I like the idea of still seeing the words through the art. It's as if you're showing respect (or something) to the words (possibly the author) beneath. I've thought of maybe framing an artwork like this with specific writing that means something to me. Just an idea.

Hi Vicki, I think I will come back to this old book sketchbook idea next year. It's very easy and stress free to work in it. And I like the look of the words peeking through 💕

What a wonderful tour of your sketchbooks! It's always interesting to look at someone's stock of art materials🤗

I am interested in whatever you wish to do that brings you joy. This is always the best kind of content as that joy always shines through. Conversely, if you do not enjoy an art piece, then that too will show. So, please paint whatever you feel like painting, and bring a little joy to this unhappy, war-torn world. 👏🏻👩🏻‍🎨🎨🖌️❤️

Very interesting to see your sketchbooks. Also can I say I really love the light in this video? The texture of the papers really shows up well.

Thank you 😊 I got lucky with natural lights while filming this. Most of December has been overcast.

@@gabriellaritaart I barely manage to paint during daylight any time of the year, so the light really stuck out to me. Was also great to really be able to see the texture of each paper, which is often lost on video.

I really love the idea of the book-sketchbook :D The show-through text gives it some interesting effect that I enjoy to look at.
I personally use sketchbooks to think, so most pages are filled with brainstorming or trying out tools, colors, etc. Some pages have detailed artworks, but it's very rare for me, so I find it fascinating that you are the exact opposite in this! Such lovely sketchbooks, I could just look at them all day.

I appreciate your thoughts on paper and mediums. When I first started upgrading my supplies, I was weird about using them because I felt I wasn’t good enough. I got over that ( I’m still not very good lol) quickly and though I have preferences, nothing is too precious anymore. I refuse. Also, like you, I’m not a fan of the Talens ArtCreations and wow, it’s popular online! Maybe I should gesso a few pages or prep them a bit… hmmm,. Your art is just beautiful !

Thank you so much 🌸 My stance on buying art supplies is I rather buy quality supplies in small quantity than getting a ton of low end supplies. And I only consider my money wasted if I don't end up using something. Art Creation sketchbooks are overrated in my opinion. I don't see why they are so popular other than for the price and the cute covers.

These paper videos are very helpful to me. I've been trying to put my papers in categories for their best use. Not well said, but you know what I mean.

For the textbook, or any of the thinner paper, did you apply clear gesso or a fixative spray to keep from smearing on the next page?

Hi, I use Renesans fixative on everything I draw or paint. However I don't like gesso.
