@@GarrettMusic1 Yh man it really does... the cables are plugged in properly as well... probably going to contact JBL at this point, only had them a week
this speakers have a penetrant noise emission out of the tweeter and it doesnt change a f.... if you have the volume output on level 10 or level 1. YOure also speaking in very unspecific terms when youre always mentioning "static" coming out of the speakers. People sometimes get a noise from different potentials on the ground-wires, very often for example when the monitors are connected to a PC per 3,5mm audio-jack. In this case turning down the volume on the speakers can actually reduce it, but when this is the case, the problem is so bad anyway that you have to find a more radical solution, for example using an optical output to your DAC or using a ground lift, or using balanced XLR. Because many use unbalanced RCA to 6,3mm adaptercables. But like i said, the "static" how you call it, on this speakers always includes a nasty noise coming out of the tweeter dome, its amplifier-related and it doesnt care a sh.. if the volume is on 10 or 1. So wheter its "this" or "that" static, your advise to turn down the volume on the back is nonsens. Pardon my french.
Try connecting it to another wall outlet where no other appliance is connected. I had a hiss from the tweeter even when nothing was connected and turned out that it was caused by another device that shared the same outlet. You can even take it to another house and see if the hiss is still there.
Hey Garrett, I am having an issue with these speakers and I'm hoping you can help me resolve it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for my audio interface (mackie profx6v3) several times so I don't think this is the source of the problem. I have my interface selected as my playback device and I have the Mackie ASIO Driver selected for input/output in FL Studio. I also have selected the audio interface as the output target on the master channel in FL. If I route the audio to my headphones from my interface I get a signal and can hear the audio playing, however there is no signal on the main meters and no sound whatsoever when I try to route the audio to my main outs. I have balanced XLR male to female cables connected from my left and right main outs to my left and right studio monitors respectively. I have switched the input sensitivity to +4dBu since both my speakers and interface support it and my cables are balanced. Everything is brand new and I am running out of solutions to try. Please Help!
Hey! make sure the gain and faders are set appropriately. If you are sending out of the Main Out, make sure the channels you are using have the L-R switch engaged. Be sure the mute switches are not engaged on any channels that you are using. Also, if your mixer has Solo buttons, make sure none of those are engaged either. If you are trying to send signal through your auxes, make sure the aux send on each channel you are using is turned up as well as the master aux. Finally, make sure the Break switch is not engaged. This can be found near the master fader. The Break switch mutes all channels.
Thanks man, great video. I just got mine today and they have a quite loud hissing noise ever since I turn them on (I can hear it from 3 meters away). Even when I unplug to cable that is connected to my audio interface, they still make this windy-white-noisy kind of sound. Have you experienced that with yours ? If so, how did you fix them ?
@@GarrettMusic1 you haven’t had the hiss issue, so that means some of these monitors are defective. Input sensitivity is what it says it is, “input” sensitivity but like Thibaut here, they don’t have to have any inputs connected. I wanna address this with JBL cuz I cannot sit any further away from them, I tested from where I start to hear it and it like 10ft - 11ft in a dead silent room, and that’s a bit over half of my room.
@@AlexEllis tell me about it! I called jbl & they told me to take them to this shop called Wizard Electronics, I think they’re affiliates or something but they’ll take a look at them and see what’s going on, tho they did say “that’s how they are with the noise”
Unfortunately, I also have such equipment connected to the computer for several days, I have half the volume set in the back and you can still hear such a minimal hissing, when I take it to the max or almost to the max, it starts to hiss and crack when I move the mouse on the desktop, it it is simply drama, unfortunately I am forced to connect it to the TV and leave it and look for new speakers for the computer.
I give up, i've spent a whole month trying to figure out on how to make my JBL 305 not do static/hissing/cracking/popping sound. I'm using a PC (with a Aorus 650b ax elite motherboard), two 305 JBL speakers, a TSR Cable, the Abignail dongle and the ifi Defender. Thanks to the ifi defender i was able to remove the insanely loud static noise, but the hissing sound is still there and when i listen to anything, the cracking and popping sound happens ever 2-3 seconds, it's impossible to use these speakers. I've turned then on after turning on my PC too, it's not working. I swear to god, i will get a panic attack from trying to solve this problem. I can't afford a audio interface right now and i doub that it'd fix the problem.
Why can't I hear a voice on my speaker? I am using a Windows PC, can hear your voice on my little Denon speaker but not on my JBL 305p MKII. Bought this for a quality sound, I'm not an audio producer. Quality is all over the place, for example a lot of Spotify sounds poor. Is that just because it's accurate? As a consumer, this is not meeting my needs. Just my experience.
That’s likely the amplifier backplate exhibiting cabinet resonances. Mine did this for awhile before I upgraded. Find a frequency generator on the net and play a ~235hz tone while the monitor is cranked up a bit. If there’s some buzzing, you’ll be able to tell. Take off backplate, line with some thin foam or rubber material and reinstall, test again.

Mines is making a noise like a life line noise like a very long beeeep how can I fix that or are they broke
this speakers have a penetrant noise emission out of the tweeter and it doesnt change a f.... if you have the volume output on level 10 or level 1.
Amazing video 10/10
Wow! First time I have gotten a 10/10
Means a lot
thank you very much
you are very welcome
I only have the lowest frequency 50hz windows 11 how can I make it lower ? or is it lowest it gets
What should be the input sensitivity..?
How do you take them off stand-by mode ?
Best studio monitor ever
jbl is international brand
Generally, if you hook up your PC output to the monitors, I prefer using a balanced XLR plug into the speaker to avoid interferences.
I use this XLR plug and still hear minimal noise in both monitors :(
Thank you!
Hey man, I havent had this problem. Maybe check the sensitivity on the back of your monitors
@@EJR20 I havent to be honest, my speakers have been amazing. I do keep the gain low at all times though
@@EJR20 I bought some and am having exactly the same issues, even with audio disconnected and the volume set close to minimum.
Yeah the static noise is always there, I notice it too sometimes. Not much we can do bro
Guitar cable?
yeah that's what they are called
@@GarrettMusic1 There's a difference between a guitar cable(Shielded) and a speaker cable (Unshielded). Just sayin...

Can someone help me with not powering one of them
I give up, i've spent a whole month trying to figure out on how to make my JBL 305 not do static/hissing/cracking/popping sound.
My JPL has a low volume with a wired mic
I love mine 👌🏾
I'm glad!
Just my experience.
my bbl beetwen 200 -300 hz
makes a weird vibrating sound
That’s likely the amplifier backplate exhibiting cabinet resonances. Mine did this for awhile before I upgraded. Find a frequency generator on the net and play a ~235hz tone while the monitor is cranked up a bit. If there’s some buzzing, you’ll be able to tell. Take off backplate, line with some thin foam or rubber material and reinstall, test again.
How can you control volume without connecting to an interface? When it's impossible to control the volume simultaneously without turn up/down the computer output volume...
On the back of the monitors there are volume nobs 😁
@@GarrettMusic1 "There are" not there is... And it's really annoying when someone don't have an interface...
My problem with them is one of the speakers randomly will be about 50% power vs the other speaker . I know there not broken cause they will work sometimes and sometimes randomly one of them will not
A "guitar cable" is not to be used with speakers. You want TRS for 1/4 cable .
A "guitar cable" has a super thin positive inside and cannot carry the signal properly.
mine keeps cracking nothing worked. left came home and it started cracking
Oh no
Couldn't you simply leave the speakers and audio interface on at all times?
Mine keep clipping very annoying
That’s actually a female xlr to a male trs cable. You can tell because the female ends gets the male inserted into their holes.
Thanks for letting me know
@@GarrettMusic1 I just received these new monitors and set them up yesterday. They aren’t very loud. I’m using the EVO 4. are you seeing the same?
