Wow! This was terrific fun! Aren't we lucky Acorns to be treated to such talent? Thank you, Paul, Doyle, and Caleb. And Howdy Tipper in the background. Blessings to you all!
I can't believe this!! I love Doyle and watch his channel faithfully as I do yours and the girls. I would've never thought I'd see he and Caleb on your channel. 👍
I am really enjoying watching the three of you. It reminds me of when I was a kid sitting around Momma and Daddy's living room. Watching all the picking and stomping my foot singing along. Those were wonderful times. Now most of the those people have all gone.
Oh my goodness. Talk about uplifting music! Thank you so much for sharing! Oh and thank you for introducing me to Merle Travis. I can't believe I didn't know about him until I watched this. 😊
You bet, Robin! Sometimes musical history is so rich that what we think is the source is actually a secondary source, not a primary source. A close friend of mine thought that Chet Atkins invented finger-style picking and had no idea that Merle Travis was doing it so incredibly well long before the great Chet Atkins came along.
Great cover of a great train song, Paul, Doyle, and Caleb. 👍 It's a treat to see Caleb playing an Ovation guitar, too. I recall when lots of country artists played Ovation guitars and I've often wondered why they're seldom seen these days.
Thanks, Noah! Caleb makes that Ovation sound like a million bucks! He told me that he likes to play it because it plays more like his electric guitars.
Watched this video on the Blind Pig and the Acorn blog and it was just as good the second time around! Y’all got talent! Johnny Cash was one of my dad’s favorite singer. He would have really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!
Awesome song, guys! 😊 It's always so much fun watching and listening to you all play, sing, and tapping your foot. 🎶 Thanks for sharing! Sending blessings to you all. 💗🙏
Awesome! Paul your singing and playing was fantastic , Doyle and Caleb wow.🤩 Love that song… can remember the Carter family and Johnny Cash. I always felt so much empathy for Johnny as a child with the abuse that his father put him through that was so sad.It stayed with him his entire life. God rest his soul. God bless all of you and thank you for making my day brighter.❤🚂 PS. I always wonder what it would be like to be a “hoboette” and jump from train to train. It sounds like it would be really fun. Dangerous but fun.❤
@ Thank you Paul for asking about my Mom. it’s going to be a long recovery for her. Hopefully she will be able to handle it. One of the things that really bothers her is she is unable to go to church. That has been hard on her… she does pray and read her bible most of the day. She loved to sew but can’t do that anymore. Luckily granny can still crochet and granny’s condition is fantastic she looks great 👍 is far better than my mom’s but I know the church part really bothers her. We never missed a day of church ever our church community played a big part in our lives and I think that’s a big part of her she is missing the community of our church. But she’s learnyto cope with it. This fall was so bad. I can’t even tell you what she looks like. It’s indescribable, but thank you so much for asking about her it means a lot to me. I hope you have a beautiful day. And a get some tennis in. By the way how is your friend shoulder? My advice to him is to make sure he does the exercises when he’s able to do them. It’s so important. Take good care Paul! Love, Esme’ 🫶🦋 Thanks for the beautiful music. And all the thought and narrative you write it’s a lot of work I know🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
@@Esme0285 Maybe someone at the church could set up their phone and live stream the service so that your mom and others like her could watch it. A lot of churches in our area do that. Just a thought. In the meantime, maybe she could watch some online services or programs on TBN, as the next best thing to being able to go to church.
@ Paul, Thank you for the ideas. She does watch TBN on the Tv. But I had not thought about a live stream at all that’s a great idea and am I am going to go and speak to our Pastor about it. During Covid they did do something like that so that was really thoughtful and I really appreciate it. My mind is going in a thousand directions trying to help make her feel better and useful (she can get a little stubborn)probably from frustration. She still has a lot to give here on earth maybe not in the same way….and she’s was always so active in so many things at church. Thank you again. 😇✌️🦋Hope your day is fantastic!! God bless you Paul🫶🌟💛
Thanks, Sophie! Glad that you found your way to this video. Wish I could fiddle, but I can't play a single note! :-) Lord willing, one day, maybe I can hook up with a fiddler and give that classic tune a shot. :-)
Caleb is playing very well... Mrs. Doyle is very sophisticated, has a very refined technique. But they had little opportunity to play more.. Congratulations on the program.
Awesome great video guys. I have been a fan of all of you for several years. It is great to see you perform together. Did Meral Travis write that song for Johnny Cash? Many, Many Thumbs Up Guys. God bless you all.
Thanks, Thomas! No, Johnny wrote Folsom Prison Blues long before he had a TV show, but Merle Travis wrote the train songs that Johnny did on his TV show.
Paul and folks that was so good. It brings back memories of days gone by. My mother used to sing that song for me as a child. I asked so many questions about the words. I asked her one day went would shoot a man just to watch him die? I absolutely loved listening to that song.

Betty, so glad that this brought back fond memories for you. :-)
Fantastic in music and voice. I appreciate the history, too, with Doyle's memories of the great Merle Travis.

Outstanding! The 3 of you are great together.
I love this
Caleb is playing very well... Mrs. Doyle is very sophisticated, has a very refined technique. But they had little opportunity to play more.. Congratulations on the program.
Thank you so much. They both are amazing players with their own distinct styles. :-)

I absolutely loved listening to that song.
Thanks, Janice! When I was kid, I too was a little perplexed by that rather dark line.
Whew!!! They certainly don't write 'em like that anymore, and, definitely hardly played like that lately...
Thanks, Brian! I agree! Folsom Prison Blues is one of those timeless songs.
