I remember when Pat first appeared and she said in an interview something like "A lot of female singers seem to be saying 'If you break my heart, I'll fall to pieces.' But if you break MY heart, I'll kick your ass." At age 71, she's on tour as we speak. And from what I hear, still kicking ass!

Check out her book, "Between a Heart and a Rock Place". This legend shattered barriers in the music industry. Pushing back at execs telling her she should be more sexy, racy, etc. and she put them in their place and excelled simply due to her sheer talent. Pat and Spyder are American treasures.

Pat was trained to be an opera singer but fell in love with rock and moved into that genre. It wasn't an easy transition. She discovered that it was a whole different "ballgame" and had to learn to adjust to the rock "screaming and shouting in tune!" That's the genius of her and her voice.

This song was constructed with the slow intro.. moving into uptempo, as many song were in the early 80s; mirroring the trend set in the late 70s by Donna Summer.

From an interview with Pat, she first met Donna Summer in a restroom at an awards show. She heard a voice say (jokingly) "Pat Benatar ... I hate you." Donna went on to explain that Pat's records hadn't left her daughter's turntable since she first came out.

Pat was a rock goddess..with that awesome voice and killah band. In Feb. '76, our local rock station, KGON promoted a series of " Catch A Rising Star" shows at this 2,000 seat place, the Paramount. Me and some high school pals saw her on her debut tour ( Her first LP hadn't been released yet), and the lady/band blew us away with an exciting and polished set. Leaving the show, I said to my buds, " Rising Star, my ass..more like Haley's Comet!"

Hit Me With Your Best Shot. 2. Hell Is For Children. 3. You Better Run. 4. I'm Gonna Follow You. 5. Never Wanna To Leave You. 6. Treat Me Right. In 1981 Fire & Ice. 1982 1. Shadows Of The Night. 2. Promises In The Dark. 1983 Love Is A Battle Field. 1984. We Belong. 1985. "Invincible" from the movie "The Legend of Billie Jean. Thes are just a few hits she has in her repertoire. Her husband Neal Giraldo guitar player wrote most of her songs. They are still performing together and are still married. Great reaction as always. She is one you should react to more often. Love you guys. Florida USA. Note: She did a tribute song for her late close friend Harry Chapin. The song was "Shooting Star" written by the late great singer/songwriter Harry Chapin. Pat Benatar is a powerhouse vocalist in a petite frame. She had a lot of great songs in the 80's such as "Heartbreaker", "We Live For Love", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Fire & Ice", "Love Is A Battlefield", "We Belong", "Invincible", "All Fired Up", "Treat Me Right", "Shadows Of The Night" etc.

She wrote a great song to bring attention to child abuse called “Hell Is For Children”. Her husband Neil Giraldo was also the guitarist for John Waite’s solo albums in the 80’s. He has a really unique and beautiful style.

I challenge anyone to name a more powerhouse husband and wife duo than Pat and Spyder. And these two kids have been at it for decades! I've seen them at least a half dozen times live and even today Pat still just belts it out, every show. @MerchantOfAlba, even if you don't Reaction it, check out Hell is For Children: ua-cam.com/video/YEf00GC1rlQ/v-deo.html

Thank God this song picked up tempo after the first 45 seconds or we would've had to watch him cry through it.

I got to see them in Dallas Texas when she first came on to the music scene such an amazing singer/ Band if you get a chance can you react to Hell is for Children. It's about mental and physical abuse of children . She brought this subject up at every concert and still does to this day I believe she is in her 70s now and can still sing amazing.
