I'm surprised to find my watch still says android wear at start up! Surely it should be wear os after the update?

Probably didn't update yet. Make sure you go to the play store in your watch and look for all the updates.

It's to do with the OS that it launched with (it's WearOS, but the animation doesn't change on bootup)

How's the battery life with the new update?

For me no real difference in battery life change.

I found that the 'Ok Google' detection was toggled by the update (which has a negative impact), flick this toggle off and battery life is good. Found more importantly that overall speed has improved.
