@@MH-zg5ywPhantasmagoria wasn't a pop album. It was their full transition to gothic rock, and it was glorious. They sonehow did it better than most established goth bands at the time. Underrated gem of an album!
@@bbandthesv Get out of here. Phantasmagoria is not a Goth album. And the Damned were not "Gothic rock". Not even close. The song "Is it a dream?" is a full on pop song as is "Grimly Fiendish. Hell, all of the songs on that album are straight pop rock songs. The majority of the songs on that album are pop rock. The Damned never identified as "Goth" or "Gothic rock". The label played marketed Dave Vanian to the hilt for Phantasmagoria and played up his image. Again, musically The Damned were never Goth
Saw this in oxford in 86 on halloween. I still have this exact drumkit. Not this actual one but the same set up - a premier resonator - and its still used and mint. Never found a better one
I've always thought this is one of The Damned's strongest songs. I first heard it at age 15 and wondered why it wasn't well known from the radio. People just don't know what's good and what's not!
first seen the damned in glasgow 1982 then seen them during this tour i was with my ex bird and she nearly passed out when dave boy came on the stage cos she fancied him big time , maybe that's how we split anyw her loss punks not dead
I was looking through my tickets stubs from the 80’s and have The Damned Tea Party Finsbury Park. Just going through the set list and listening to them again.
The Black album and the Phantasmagoria album by The Damned were so brilliant the like of it won't be seen again until after the 22nd century.
Strawberries is also pretty awesome.
Phantasmagoria was a straight pop album. Not brilliant.
Strawberries too

I was at Finsbury Park when the Good Captain showed up. Sunday, July 27th 1986.

anyone know where this video was taken? I saw the show on this tour at the Ritz in NYC. They're fantastic live - going to see them again in May
I'm quite sure it's the Shepherds Bush Empire?
. . . *Happy ... World ... Goth ... Day ... 2015 ... everyone!* . . .
Why do they never include this in their set list now?
Well.. they open their set with Street of dreams on the current tour ;-)
And they must like it as Dave V is the only current member on the original recording.
They do include it.
Damned brill look up Charlie and the horlicks overdose
Was this In Woolwich??
80s damned footage is always welcome - but watching this is unbearable. How hot was it that evening? Any chance of a few fans scattered about? 🤪
My Girlfriend liked this song..
The 'real' James Bond song 'reinvented' by Chris Cornel. LOL.
Oh, the song? "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornel
