    That is the exact computer I have although I have upgraded to dual SSD drives and 16gb Ram. Not sure if the CPU can be upgraded or if the CPU is worth upgrading. Running it with dual boot of Windows 10 and linux.

    Have you noticed that the prodesk is more streamlined than the EliteDesk?
    For the SFF:
    -2 memory slots instead of 4.
    -1 pcie slot in 16x format instead of 2.
    -A screw to remove the cover instead of a handle.
    Always prefer an EliteDesk!

    @jensd_be Will this motherboard work with a ATX Power Supply? Assuming the original PSU isn't working and I have a regular mid tower with a good ATX Power supply. I don't see the regular 24 pin that comes with a standard ATX motherboard.
    Please and Thankyou.

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  20 днів тому

      It has its own proprietary standard but there are adapter cables on the market that will allow you to connect a standard ATX power supply. For example: www.moddiy.com/products/PSU-Main-Power-24-Pin-to-6-Pin-Adapter-Cable-30cm-for-HP-Z240.html

    Can this computer work without the hood sene? I have one with the following problem: System does not power on and the LEDs on the front of the computer are not flashing.
    The power supply was checked and it is fine, I checked the power button and it also works.

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  5 місяців тому

      It can work without the hood sensor. In any case that would not prevent the board from getting power or showing LEDs. If you are sure that your power supply is good, then this sounds like a dead motherboard.

    • @jensdbe

      Not sure what you mean with SFX power supply but with the standard pwoer supply, a GTX1650 in low profile should work.

    A perfectly good computer!👍👍 I would increase the ram., to at least 16 gig., and according to the HP specifications for this computer it can handle a maximum of 32 gig., of ram..

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  9 місяців тому +2

      Depends a bit on what your plans are with the computer. For basic tasks, you probably won't notice the extra 8GB. But its a cheap/fast upgrade, so why not.

    • @laurencejohnson4106
      @laurencejohnson4106 9 місяців тому

      @@jensdbe I concur that 8 gig., is plenty for basic tasks, but when there are four ram., slots I like to fill them and as you mentioned 4 gig., DDR3 ram., sticks are fairly cheap these days.

    Would a mini Itx or a micro Atx motherboard work with this line of hp chassis?

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  Місяць тому +1

      I think the form factor of the board is a standard micro ATX regarding size. Only thing you will need to pay attention for is to get a conversion cable for the power supply as that is not standard ATX.

    I have the exact same model. I’m hoping to upgrade the psu to 300W. I wanted to know if this model could support that. I recently upgraded the GPU. The system is currently working fine. Unfortunately, I did some research and ChatGPT gave me some misinformation. I have a 240W PSU but my GPU recommends 250W PSU. ChatGPT told me it wouldn’t matter. I regularly monitored my system so far and no problems. I only use it for legacy games like Skyrim. I was just wondering if this units psu can be upgraded since HP makes things differently. I’m hoping to not be forced to uninstall my GPU permanently. Since this can cause long term system issues. I currently have a Comptia A+ so I do have some tech knowledge. I was just hoping to get some wise advice from you. Thanks.

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  7 місяців тому

      Depending on which GPU it is qnd the rest of your components, this probably isn't an issue at all. The recommendation is typically a bit luxurious.
      Which GPU do you have? Both the size and connectors are non-standard, so upgrading it might not be easy.

    I had no idea you could actually get windows 11 on this machine. I own the same machine, with the difference that I got an i5 4790. Is it safe to do? And will it run as well or better than the copy of windows 10 it originally comes with?

    My mom ordered me this pc 2 years ago, while looking at this video i realized i do not have a password reset jumper, my pc has been malfunctioning a lot and lately it will not start, the error code i keep getting is 0xc0000225, is not having a password reset jumper the reason? Sorry if this is stupid as have nevrr had a computer previously and my pc hasn't been working for months

    • @jensdbe
      @jensdbe  20 днів тому

      I don't think this would be related to a missing password reset jumper. That error code seems to relate to boot issues so either some files are corrupt (like an interrupted Windows Update could cause for example), your hard drive/SSD is not 100% anymore or has filesystem errors or there are issues with the memory. I'd start with running checkdisk and maybe do a memory test. If those come back clean, a clean re-install of Windows will probably help you.

    • @jensdbe

      Both won't really help regarding performance I think. 4GB is on the low-side these days and definitely replacing that hard drive with an SSD will give a huge boost.
