    Sven another excellent video. On the fact that gold miners will drop when gold goes down.
    Does it mean your mining stock becomes worthless for ever or just until gold rises again?. I have looked into it a bit and have noticed that companies can still be working away it just means your stock goes to almost zero. But if you do not sell and wait for physical gold to go up again your stock in theory should go up again too. What are you thoughts. BTW I hope the fair warning you have given is plenty now. Is not like you have not been very clear on all this before, but it is important to help people understand this stuff. There are a lot variables and the entire investing world is speculation.

      Look at what happened to TAho, it was at $25 a few years ago and fell to $2.2 and is now bought at $3.3. Those who bough more didn't see the $25 back, just $3.3.

      @@Value-Investing Yep hence the reason one has less of a risk buying the few under priced junior mining stocks you mentioned. As you say - the loss is very little and the upside is Huge.
      I of course mean those few well priced juniors if gold was to go down then those miners would go down further. But as they are already only 0.5 - 3 euros I think people would buy them again especially if they start trading at 0.01 - 0.3 as long as the fundamentals are good. Is what I am wondering.

    Great overview, sir. I will be purchasing your platform before the end of the year for sure. I have done a risk reward calculation on your platform and it looks good. $250 vs upside on one great pick, is something like 1/50 risk:reward ratio. :) I am a concentrated investor and just looking for one great idea per year.
    One question (multiple parts): You have mentioned the value of certain stocks if gold drops to $800/900 etc. EG. Goldcorp intrinsic value would be zero. My question is: What likely happens at the point where miners become worthless and cash flow negative? What are the typical outcomes in the gold sector? eg. Takeovers at deflated prices, asset sales, bankrupcies, stock dilution, etc ? This would help give a more complete view of the risk side of the equation if we could estimate the actual outcomes of a low gold price. Can some of these worthless miners survive and allow us to ride out the storm, or would we expect a permanent loss to be realized at that point? Hope that makes sense what i am asking!

    • @Value-Investing
      @Value-Investing  6 років тому +1

    Financially they are weak but have good resources.
    Financing for the purchase? How is funded? It will be more expensive in USD.
    Mines were bought too expensive at the gold high, therefore the high debts of the big mines. Is it cheap now, or are they still stupid and buying too expensive?

    • @Value-Investing
      @Value-Investing  6 років тому +1

      that is the question:-) I analyzed TAho last week and my valuation came in at $250 million, so, for me it is overvalued. They are all betting on the upside from gold and silver. That is what 98% of miners are, when you are in the industry, it is like a virus.

    That's the explanation why the two companies that I did not buy had risen so much.
    Paas shareholders pay for it at short notice.
    Lundin also bid for nevsun, but less, so Lundin is not very trustworthy either. Nevsun was as under pressure as Tahoe.
    It depends on when you buy companies that may be good for a takeover. All do not go to zero, even at a gold price of 800 USD
    Tahoe Resources (NYSE: TAHO) rocketed nearly 50% today after the company announced it was being acquired by Pan American Silver (NASDAQ: PAAS). Shares of the acquirer fell nearly 14% on the news.
    As previously disclosed, Zijin's Offer for Nevsun is all cash consideration of C$6.00 per Nevsun share representing a premium of 57% over Nevsun's unaffected closing price of C$3.82 on May 7,
    I do not like these deals any more than the Barrick Deal.
    But you can see that you can make bad experiences with big companies
    when they buy.

    • @Value-Investing

      Nevsun had value no matter what, Taho is much riskier, at least that is what my analysis shows.

      @@Value-Investing I did not criticize your analysis. This was a contribution to the background of the video. Wanted to justify the charts, which were in the background. You have really shown that they were risky and how they fell off.
      And I say that it is not bad to buy something at cheap prices
      not facing bankruptcy. Because it benefits from rising commodity prices or from a takeover.
      Tahoe looked riskier, but was bought cheaply given the resources. Book value is also worth seeing compared to Nevsun. I would like to see the faces of short sellers.
      Anyway. in my opinion the video was good. You do not need to feel attacked.

      @@Value-Investing I have made inflation adjusted simulations with historical data and I found out, that up to 20% in Gold the long-term total performance stocks&gold ist still quite good and the variance in the portfolio is clearly reduced. More than 20% (max. half of the stock-quantity) reduces the total LT performance too much! So for a defensive investor up to 15% (20% ??) points in the portfolio IMO could be okay. Even in such an scenario owning gold can be good. Keep in mind that any deflationary bust will be short lived. They will print the money. Invest accordingly. You also forget to mention that one should look at gold in their own currency. That's why you need to own physical gold. An alternative to the ETFs are services like Bullionvault.

    Around 2 years ago, reports suggested Juniors were on their backsides, in Western Australia (a mining area), jobs were down, people were handing in their keys and walking away from their houses, due to debts. Worldwide, companies were slashing costs and sacking staff. What was the price of gold? Haven’t a clue, pretty much around what it is now, I guess, give or take $100 dollars, and yet, jobs are now on the increase and money is going back into gold.
    My point, mining is cyclical, don’t buy a mining stock purely based on the price of gold. It can take 10 years to bring a mine into full production, if ever and cost hundreds of millions, your shares will be diluted, you will be lucky to see a dividend and volatility will cause you share price to plummet at times. Unless you know what your doing, or have access to someone like Sven and his Investment Platform, I suggest owning only large mining corporations with an exposure to gold. Let the buyer beware, as they say.

      I do have 90% of my gold in physical gold, but 10% as zkb etf.
      This zkb etf is more convenient to sell/buy for rebalancing value for example.
      This zkb etf is cheaper than physical gold and is the safest etf I know. (they guarantee us to have their etf backed with enough physical gold). But because we are not sure and dont want to be at risk I cant have more than 10% of my gold in etf.
      So you just have to check how much risk you can accept to have something more convenient when you have stocks trading strategy based on gold (all seasons porfollio for example).
