Favorite toy store ever was Lionel Kiddie City toys on 34th st in NYC.
Followed by Kay Bee Toys on 33rd st in NYC inside Manhattan Mall. That place was tiny and always filled with Toy Biz action figures. 3 for 10 bucks was awesome. They even got their own exclusives back then. The woolworth on 34th which is now a target location was my go to place for Gijoes in the 80s. They had them behind glass displays. Forbidden planet which still exists used to be HUGE in the 80s and had a great toy section in the basement that was like a toy store to itself.

I’ve been to that Woolworth where the target was a few times as a kid(grew up in Westchester county so I went to the ones by me) and I didn’t even realize forbidden planet has been open for that long! Wow, that takes me back to the good old days. I had just about all of these at one point or another. Sold them off as the line has evolved. I’ve been buying Marvel Legends since day one. All the way back to the first original Spider-Man Classics figures that were the precursor to Marvel Legends. Back when they were like $6.00 at Walmart, Target, TRU, and K-B Toys.
I had and have a few of these from back in the day and I still think to this day they’re some of the best original sculpts out there. I’m really surprised to find some of these in these bins, especially that 2099 spidey! So cool you were able to hunt down the original spidey classics in stores!
@@SentriTMC Yeah, I remember finding the whole first Spidey Classics wave at my local TRU. I think they were like $6.99 then. I only picked up the red and blue Spidey and black suit Spidey though. They had a second wave which featured Battle Damaged Spidey (which I still have), Rhino, Daredevil, and First Appearance Spidey. Then after that the line became Marvel Legends. I bought Captain America, Iron Man and the Variant Chase Gold Iron Man off the pegs at TRU. It got much harder to find the chase figs as the line progressed and become more popular.

I have found a few boxes of old Toy Biz while cleaning by collection up.I forgot how much I loved them. I got them for 3 for $10 at KB Toys way back in the day. I will have to pull a box out and toss a video up of them.

I’ve been subbed for a while and really like your channel. I did a double take the first time I watched your videos because you were filming in Norwalk. I lived right near the Walmart and donuts delight and thought that was so cool that someone was filming locally. It’s a shame that the toys r us up the hill is no longer a thing I used to love going there for empty pegs ;)
You have a huge space to set up your man cave. I would advise you start now and chip away at building it. With the pandemic going on it’s a perfect time to have time to start building walks and making displays. With some motivation you could have it completely done in a couple of months. It would be nice to see you end your haul video in a swank room instead of the empty furnace room.

There’s not much I enjoy more than taking a drive to Norwalk to visit my favorite Walmart’s and get a coffee (and now chat with you guys once I do). I thought it would be cool to contextualize a bit where I’m hunting to better connect with local peeps, if any watch, especially if it means helping people out with leads and such. I miss that toys r us and remember it well!
As for my basement- the renovations are coming. If it was the only part of the house I was renovating, it would’ve been done already. However, I’ve been spending time and lots of dough on renovating other parts of the house right now. The basement is next and there is nothing more that I want than to be able to come home and film a haul breakdown, as well as provide additional content I don’t feel I can(not the way I’d like to at least) right now without a setup. I appreciate you following a long and being a channel faithful! It will only get better from here! Sooner or later you will never see that boiler again! 😂🤘🏼🍻

Wow, really great Classic Spidey figs, especially that 2099 and 252 Spidey. Great Ghost Rider and Daredevil also. Did they ever make a Howard the Duck. That would be incredible. Great video and good luck on building your displays.
I’m fairly certain a 3.75 inch Howard the Duck was made but I do not think toybiz made one! I was pretty surprised to see those spideys man, especially 2099. Highly sought after. Sweet collection. I have alot of those old Toybiz figs. The Sentinal BAF is a must have from that period. I also have the Juggernaut, 2 Hulks, Sabertooth, 5 pack with Rogue and beast in the lab coat Lady Deathstrike. Old ones have cool washes. Thats going to be a nice room.

Man spider is the best. Then brown costume wolvy and the 2 yellow wolverine . Then vengeance and ghost rider. I also liked the vintage card strong guy and mojo.

Ah, those brought me back... those MOC Spidey classics are especially nice, they actually pre-date ML, and sort of morphed into ML after 2 (maybe 3) waves... keep that TB ML Abomination if he'll go for it, it's still a better than any version Hasbro has released.
Hey brother! Completely agree! Abomination is easily the best one we’ve seen IMO- no doubt. Marvel Select Abomination I think is the best out there with this one being right there and easily the best figure of him in legend form. 2099 is pretty sought after as well in this pile. I was about 6 or 7 when Marvel Legends started releasing and I remember being able to get most that first wave (my dad also collected) but my dad could never find me that tiger stripe Wolverine, I used to stare at that figure on the ToyBiz website all the time
I love hearing stories like this. Reminds me so much of my experiences as a kid, even with this line. Thank you for taking the time to view this video!
A couple of things. Those are all full comic books in the back of the classic Legends figures. Not big cards. If you look it even says it on the front of the packages. With the Brown Suit Wolverine, the sword that the guy is holding in the diorama is removable and can be given to Wolverine to use (it’s kind of rubbery though). The black on the classic Thing figure is not discoloration. It is a purposeful black wash that was common on the old ToyBiz figures.
I don’t remember the comics coming with them but realized afterward when I was able to take a closer look and look at the loose ones in one of the bins. First app ff1 is one of my favorite books/ covers. Used to have that slab in my collection. The wash in the upper torso of the regular thing figure is noticeably lighter than the rest of the coloring on his body so I wasn’t sure if it was purposeful or not. Both look great but I’m a first app thing kind of guy. I’ve never had any of the wolverines so that’s good to know! Some really great dio pieces in all of these! It’s what I love about old legends and selects aside from unique sculpts
@@SentriTMC Marvel Legends were an awesome value back in the day. They came with dios, comics, cards and eventually BAF pieces all for around $7.00 (or less). I remember when the very first Hasbro Legends wave came out and they were like $9.99 each. I was flabbergasted! I still bought them though. Now we pay twice that, and I still buy them. LOL
Amazing value for what you got. I obviously love legends nowadays as well, but I’m sculpt and paint over everything and vintage legends stand the test of time with ease
Amazing " blast from the past " with a look at these vintage, mint in box, Toybiz and Marvel Legends action figures.
I think you picked the best figures from the haul, with the two Thing and two Ghost Rider figures being the gems.
If my memory serves me right, the Daredevil and Punisher figures both had face sculpts based on the actor's faces from the movie's, which explains why they don't look like the comic book versions.

The old toybiz figs aren't going for much anymore at all you can find most of them for 10$ make sure not to over pay for these but that spiderman 2099 is a super gem the comic in it is worth 500$ the toy is only worth like 40$

They’re bigger scale the toybiz legends.. same with selects which are 7 and 8 inch. All preference! I like both.. love toybiz marvel too which is much smaller- 5.5 inch

I can't stand the sculpts of the old legends, their proportions and articulation points are imo just ugly but the paint was really nice. If they gave us modern legends with the toy biz style paint. That would be perfection for me.
All very valid points, imo. Older legends, aside from the bigger characters, don’t scale well and like a lot of Marvel Select pieces, are widely disproportioned. However, I do feel that paint & sculpt details still hold up to this day and are more intricate than your stock $19.99 hasbro legends figure. The one thing I can’t stand about hasbro is that they go 90-95% and stop. Would love to see more than one paint application on a vehicle and some detailing on weapon accessories... and in some cases... paint on an entire figure and not just the front of it lol. It’s fun to dissect the good and bad for old and new, at least for me. Definitely appreciate this comment! Thank you for taking the time to watch!
@@SentriTMC i agree, a lot of newer hasbro figures with their lack of paint just look very cheep. The ones with the least amount of paint often feel like dollar store toys not collectibles. Some Figures like spy master feel down right insulting.
It’s true, sadly. There are - at best - a handful of legends I am interested in a year.. don’t love having to buy entire waves to get a decent figure (baf) but outside of recently, i don’t like a lot of what gets put out. Don’t collect mcu or gamerverse stuff. That said, I really liked the deluxe figures that came out this year and a couple of bafs. Stiltman wave for me is lolz.. I do just enjoy seeing new stuff on the shelves though whether I buy it or not

The spider verse stuff looks good but im a comic collector, I've never been into figures based off of movies or shows except maybe batman the animated series but I grew up on that show and I've loved it since I was a kid. It was my gateway into comics. Speaking of dc, what are your thoughts on the McFarlane dc multiverse figs?
Ah yes- a hand ninja or two and frog man both would be all I want as well. Overall, not into that wave at all aside from those figures which is about right for me.. only interested in 1/3 of the wave at best lol. Frog man looks very good. I’m also a comic collector when it comes to figures as I’ve mentioned with the exception of animated series spidey (love that line currently out) and X-men. I’m digging mcfarlane toys DC bat stuff. For the price you get an awesome sculpt and paint which is never sloppy and compared to old mcfarlane figures, much more articulation. I collect mcfarlane bats and spawn. As much as I love articulation, I am a sculpt and paint guy first so I’ve always loved mcfarlane toys (statue collector as well which probably makes all of this make more sense now).
