Hello everyone! In this video I build up some drone complexity using simple concepts and ingredients. If you like to take your drone game a step up, check out my 4 step guide video: ua-cam.com/video/CW3jk3BgE1E/v-deo.html
Lots of VCA usage. I'm sure glad I got the Doepfer octal linear VCA recently. Seems like it'll find a lot of utility in patches like these. I'll try mixing a few LFOs and slope generators with it and see what happens, especially in those texture patches. Thanks for putting this guide together. Looks like a lot of fun and drones can be relaxing to build, control, and listen to.
True! Some of my videos really show why having a couple extra is a good idea :) And agree with the relaxing part. There is something very satisfying about building and changing textures in a sound without worrying about melodies and loops and beats. Cheers!
That Doepfer octal is the module that says "oh? hold my beer." whenever somebody says "you can never have enough vcas" I have yet to fill every patch point simultaneously.
Here's what I'm going to try out to add a little something to the patches you have here: Include a PLL module, sync'd to the main osc, and using the comparator output as a modulation source in the patch. Perhaps even the audio signal from the PLL as mod source. Certainly mixing it in with the main osc too.
True! I personally love and recommend the Random Bezier Waves module I designed with ADDAC for this ;) But wanted to keep this video limited to a couple of basic ideas, and not always pitch my stuff, or make things complex. Cheers!
Agree! Always hard to decide wat to include and leave out in these videos. This is really quite a pack of basic build-a-drone ideas. I made a few videos about more generative ideas that go depper with logic, switches, dividers etc to build longer interesting evolving compositions. Cheers!
Hello there and friendly greetings! Great video and great topic! I'm discovering on my skin how easy is to get boring and repetitive in droning music... This tutorial is what I needed to explore new paths and new way to tell stories (yes, that saying has stuck with me). So thank you very much! 🙂👍
Glad you think so! Always thinking about what balance to strike. I want to include and be helpful to beginners, but also offer something for common wigglers :) Cheers!
I have a live drone set tomorrow. Not my usual format so this was a timely video to see if I missed anything. Gotta say, Vhikk X has all these elements baked into one module. But it was super helpful to see you build out the sound with basic elements so I can start to understand what's going on under Vhikk's hood. And obviously your system has way more versatility and control.
Nice! This video is really just a little list of basics to give people an impression on how to get started. Lot's of cool modules and ideas that could expand on this. Enjoy the live set!
Sounds like you struggle with the concept of a tutorial. Tips on how to write a poem aren’t a poem. I don’t recommend listening to demo-clips of oscillator FM or filter frequency separation for hours. Cheers!

Amazing, do you have modulargrid link for this system? thanks

Beautiful sounds, love it!
Glad you like it!
7:50 lovely!
Thanks!
Awesome ideas and excellent sounding drones. Thank you! I'm just starting using modular, so many things to try. Superleuk.
Nice, glad you got some use out of it! Veel plezier :)

Sounds good! PLL is a real fun module to explore for sure :) Enjoy!
Inspiring and very well presented content (as always!). Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
XY-style cv modulators like kaoss pads or joystick modules are great for adding slow, organic evolutions to drones.

Logic is a great addition to this in my opinion

The Ana /ana 2 can change all of this in seconds

title of your next mathrock EP?
Sounds like a plan! :)
there is something in this video for everyone.. beginner, intermediate and advanced.. thanks Professor

I thought that are boring drones. No joke, good ideas.
So fitting this comes out the day after David Lynch passes

Wouldn't want to listen to any of these sounds for 30 seconds let alone leave them droning for hours.
