As a new gamer, and new to destiny It feels like with the drop of lightfall bungie is pushing out newer players. I started destiny a month before the new expansion and loved it since it's dropped I spend hours dying over and over, and do not enjoy the game anymore. Is bungie turning destiny into a game for hardcore veteran players only?
Nicholas, I am a veteran player since Destiny 1 beta. The game is very build heavy atm and certain weapons are much better than others. There will be balancing but I was also dying over and over. I went and did something else each time, even after only 3 failed attempts or I grabbed a random teammate off of LFG. I’m sorry you’re having trouble, but my best advice is to constantly try something different. Even if it’s another quest line for a bit then come back to whatever is beating you down. The campaign on legendary is something else if you’re still focusing there. It’s tough. I beat it first on normal, then went back with some better gear and weapons. Hang in there, it gets easier.

How about seeing that history in the effing game, Lol. Everyone who's played the game knows Bungie has very deep and entertaining lore abound. But when it comes to implementing narrative in the games the lore is virtually nonexistent. There's been some tidbits here and there but they've never taken destiny to the heights of the old Halo days fond days long gone.

@redgourd864 I disagree he has with just a little bit of help completely recreated the history of destiny. All you need is to see his videos that cover the history of destiny, plus the future tbh I think he would do well he can take a vague idea and make so much out of it!

Best dreaming city secret was the dungeon. Sure now it is launchable on the map but back then you had to find it during the curse week iirc. Sure it was all over the internet once it had been found but if you were not looking for it, you would not find it unless you explored a lot.
I remember the first time taking control of the Arbiter in Halo 2. It was such a surprising treat! Imagine having temporary control of Caitl, complete with her own abilities and weapons, going after Calus in a specific mission. That or something similar would be so much fun!
Amazing idea, would love to see it. Unfortunately its pretty off brand for destiny.
I would love missions told through the eyes of some random epic human during the collapse or dark ages. No abilities, just guns and grenades. An ODST style story.
@@CrymsonNite Pretty telling Halo can't even give you that gameplay fantasy you then want to co-opt Destiny in your wishful pursuit of that fantasy.
I like the idea of adding optional "challenge" missions where you play through historical moments of other Guardians/characters in the universe. Being able to see stuff like Zavala's beginnings, or some of Cayde's legendary moments, or even like you said - a mission from Caitl's perspective. Imagine playing one of the current allies when they were still our enemies, and getting a neat little scripted moment where you see your own Guardian run by?
@@grayden4138 you must like to hear yourself speak. Halo gave him the experience with ODST, and in the world of destiny, they feel like that experience will fit well here in the amazing universe and lore deep world of destiny. No one is saying destiny is trash just because we cant play as anything else besides our guardian. That also doesnt mean someone is dumb for thinking of ways they can enjoy the game more.

Crucible is probably my favorite part of destiny. We use to get so much content for it, we should at least be getting new maps for each major expansion. But I’d like a new map every other season. It needs more content. It’s very much still a great and important part of the game.
Still upset we don’t have a Europa PvP map…
WE will definetly get a Neptune city based map, and maybe even an arcade map as well.

Loving these man, been running out of Destiny content to watch lately and this is a fresh change from the shorter stuff I’m used to.
I think Bungie stating that they would no longer vault campaigns leans towards a new game after Final Shape. That's a big claim to make in and of itself, but to continue adding campaigns "for years to come" just seems like a herculean task if they keep adding them to Destiny 2. A clean slate just seems like a more realistic option.
It would allow them to build an engine that takes into account DLSS, raytracing, optional downloads (their current engine makes this impossible), much more destruction than we got in Lightfall, physically based textures and lighting, etc..
I know most of us are really concerned about having to re-grind, but I think continuing to remove content in order to continue making new content is more detrimental to the franchise than a fresh start with a new grind. As of right now, the remaining void of the DCV makes this game almost impossible to recommend to a new or returning player with any marginal interest in the story.

We can't kill the witness... even every guardian and every ally bunched together would last mere seconds against him alone. He can literally just deatomise a guardian and a ghost with his mind. Numbers mean nothing.
His end won't be as a raid boss or as a campaign boss unless the campaign is all pieces in a puzzle and his death is in a cut scene at the end.
To have us beat him in combat would be a mockery of the story
I figure he should crumble pretty easy if we just do some raid mechanics at him.
But the Witness is, from our perspective, is a Mary/Gary Sue. Omnipotent, Omniscient, limitless power, can control our Ghost and harness it's ability as a conduit of the Light. Even Apex predators have a weakness, but just having him steamroll through the Sol System is just lazy writing. That's more of a mockery of the story than us, a single Guardian, being able to defeat Calus, post Witness-power-up, when it took 6 Guardians to defeat his robo-boss in the Raid. There comes a time when we have to admit the writing for Lightfall was a joke. Bungie's writers are not as clever as they pretend to be or as amazing as fanboys convince themselves they are.
@@grayden4138 hey hey hey bungie fanboys of their narrative team is because most dont realize the OG bungie squad got canned a while ago and we are not going to be getting any type of epic space opera....these fanboys are just living off hopium that the story will get better...no...it wont....lol. hell the damn campaign for lightfall felt like filler, like they just paused the cutscene and we did a whole side story with a complete training arc and all that, and then literally continues the cutscene from teh very beginning of the campaign as if nothing just happened...what the fuck was this campaign
I think Gambit should remove any sense of challenge from the PVE enemies, just turn it into 2 wrecking crews seeing who can speed run ~200 motes and insta melt a boss faster
I feel like it’d be more interesting if pve in gambit did a challenging amount of damage, but had like, hero nightfall levels of health, you can speedrun if you’re good, but still gotta be careful kinda deal ya know?

Tweak invaders/primeval healing mechanic. Its dumb and breaks the momentum by swinging victory for the other team with even one death. Cut the health restored to the Primeval from 25% to like 10-15%. Also, remove the invulnerability phases. So many Supers wasted. In conjunction with invader kills healing, its just resets the encounter. Just not fun. I like the idea of it having just a massive amount of health and it being a race to get motes. I honestly think you'd have to make regular enemies a bit harder to make that phase needing a bit more strategy.
Heard them talk a lot about "Engine" and I think what best describes an Engine is an interactive world with rules of physics. You have the 3d models and everything and then you put them in a world so it begins to "live"
The D1 legend is back
Watching this at work with 14 minutes left before I can go home and join my fellow Guardians on Neomuna. I’ve managed to avoid spoilers thus far. I can’t wait to experience the opening cutscene and the very fist mission, but most of all, I can’t wait to meet the cloud striders! It’s been a long time since we first got a deep look at Lightfall in August, and now it’s here! Won’t be long now. Per audacia ad astra!

I don't know if this is true for anyone else, but I remember it being a fairly common point that the art shows the traveler high up above the earth but, in the game, it sat right over the last city. I don't know if this moment was the plan from the very beginning, but I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't started thinking about it very early on after release.

The traveler didnt go into space to fight. It knew if it stayed in the last city, it would be obliterated. Every single person and guardian would die. The traveler gave the guardians time to gain the strength to defeat the witness. It sacrificed itself for the city

In regards to the Vow discussion, I feel like the preservation mission was an amazing way to add lore to a one-off raid boss and make Rhulk a more fleshed out character as opposed to just “ooh big bad guy showed up, gotta kill ‘em”

Gambit is like WoW AV
Gambit would work really well in a Halo type sandbox, set starts for all characters loadouts and map pickups, its not built for the Destiny experience, but imo would be a really interesting mode in an arena shooter.
no one ever goes for the weapons that are spawned around maps. I barely use scorch cannons in missions catered to them, i for sure wont be picking them up in things like gambit lmfao that sort of playstyle doesnt work since guns have perks and what not, its literally pointless to pick up something like that when you have your crafted god roll.

Like to see the traveler let us know he has protected us and banished the dark now I’m headed to where ever he went but now you know the consequences of not cooperating.
The Witness and The Traveler are opposing sides of an equation. The sort of cold logic of the Witness is seen in other narrative forms of entropy. An end to pain, the hypocrisy of hope, life, etc. The Witness could never be reasoned with in the same way we could never convince The Traveler to stay or fight for us. It's operating under its cosmic mechanics and calculations. In this, I don't think The Traveler sensed Rasputin's sacrifice and stayed. I think it merely sensed it was under attack and was moving away from Earth and then sensed the Black Fleet. I think The Witness was right - It knew there was nowhere else to run.

I've been playing Destiny since its original launch (with minor breaks here and there) with almost 900 hours on Steam and half that on Xbox and I still feel like an imposter in the Destiny community. However, I know that there are a lot of well informed and educated people in the community and having a teachable and learning mentality has been key for me in growing my channel despite being a variety streamer, and in making new friends.
32:51 I highly doubt with all the narrative changes, the changes within the narrative team, and the general direction of not knowing where exactly to take the story for many years has that cover art flashback been planned. That cover art dates pre story shift in 2013 and the cutscene was most likely just a fun throwback rather than a planned event.
The only 2 content creators that matter thank you for this boys have the best time in Lightfall. Great to see the legends back together!!
I would really like to see Bungie produce some smaller, purely singleplayer experiences that focus on some of the amazing characters we have seen through Destiny's life. Imagine playing as Eris Morn during her time trapped beneath the moon, or Osiris during his long stint in the Infinite Forest. They could even give us the chance to play as Cayde before he became Hunter Vanguard(they would probably make a ton of people happy if the experience spanned his whole life). They could even let us get to see parts of Destiny's from the perspective of these characters. I even like Byf's idea of getting to play through the Great Hunt. And I don't believe any of this would compete with the MMO, as long as they made them experiences that only lasted 15-30 hours(the Great Hunt story could perhaps go on for 10-20 hours more, since that has the potential for an RPGs style game).
Literally. Imagine being an awoken watching the space ship w Uldren and Mara being blown up and starting as a human then becoming awoken after the blast and seeing the dreaming city come about and you getting powers/ etc becoming these magical beings and fighting off the original ahamkaras and whatever else stands in their way. The awoken creation and story is fantastical.

I could make the same argument about making the crucible just a powerful drop and that Bungie should just ignore it because it constantly messes with PVE balance, which clearly PVP is not a main focus of Bungie for years now.

It may have already been said, but the "darkness" is really all about control huh. I mean, look at the two subclasses. Both are strictly about ad control. I guess in this regard strand is more superior to stasis since the enemies aren't instantly set free after the first hit (after being frozen that is).

Short answer: When you overhaul and engine you build the world from the ground up. New textures, new processing, and new code to run it all. Not easy, if anything they shouod just move to to the Unreal Engine since it's "easiest" to do. Which to me sucks because I wanted to see the FOX engine be updated only Konami buried that dream.

after having watched multiple "unknown player" videos, it makes me wonder if this dude has ever played the game. I havent played for like 3 months and i know whats going on just from happenstance.
Gambit would be better if it was 4 teams of 3 and you have to earn the ability to invade (through some means) when you do, more than one of you can invade. You have the choice of three coloured portals. All three of you can go through the same portal or one of you in each of the three apposing teams portals. Also you can only do this ONCE per match, per team. So you have to chose wisely how many invade and who to invade. If you fail an enemy invasion. Maybe a possible nerf to outgoing damage for 2 minutes or something. Just a few ideas there.

I've been addicted to the game since HoW D1, playing just about daily. This is the first year since I started playing that I've not bought the Deluxe/Annual Pass version of the new DLC - I've not much interest in the game anymore other than playing the campaign drops now (which I am still at least looking forward to for Lightfall) to just close out the story. The game has great gunplay, which is often the pillar argument to support it, but I've just disliked so many aspects of it and Bungie for some time now and this season was the point I started to detach. I won't play much past season 20 but will be watching the lore videos from the likes of Myelin, UP, Evade and Byf, and possibly some Aztecross sprinkled in.

Destiny 3 would in my ideal scenario be mostly a marketing move
The base code could be essentially nearly identical but it would give Bungie agency to leave last gen consoles behind and update their games to implement more features only possible on current gen consoles and also to better optimize their games for PS5 & XBOX Series X/S
if they do this and break compatibility with PS4 & XBOX One but DONT change the name of the game it will be a terrible PR and marketing move. it will leave many gamers more angry and confused than they would be otherwise.
Bungie will have to inevitably break compatibly with PS4 & XBOX One. They can’t really do it before the Final Shape expansion without a ton of backlash but afterwards they have the perfect opportunity to do so and it be a clean transition, changing the name to Destiny 3 would help that.
So I always like your insights and as I know you are an OG D1 guy, its a viewpoint with the weight of all that history. but my guy....2hours? Could you release like a highlights version, maybe around 20-30min?

Not so much a spoiler since I’m the trailer for lightfall but as we see holiday in a space battle and is either blown up by pyramid ship or is floating out in space if she is gone my question is why we have no back story on the holiday family except in bits and peices from weapons and old lore but not a lot on the holiday family and the Tex mechanica foundation but yet the dungeon of spite of the watcher all loot is Tex mechanica but no lore on the family I understand they had to give story plot points towards the upcoming content I’m just sad that a big name in destiny just got swept under the carpet without being fleshed out properly and it’s not like holiday’s death might not be as significant as it should be since we don’t have backstory or ongoing dialogue with her as we had with cause or any of the other vanguard
Honestly how are you gonna top a 7-8 year story arc that drug you along and gave you so many different emotions made you question yourself in different ways with choices and how you play
