I feel so bad for Sutton….I’ve been seeing clips of the two of you interacting and I hope one day you get to experience what it’s like to have a partner who actually listens to and values you, and doesn’t hide behind God as a way to work around not doing the work to be an actual good husband 😬
Yeah, I’m a Christian and I’ve never seen a more perfect example of someone who is Christian in name only. He’s not fooling anyone else but his poor wife & I’m concerned for her safety and well-being. His actions speak volumes, and God knows. He can pretend all he wants online for likes and views, but treating his wife so poorly is disgraceful. Christians aren’t supposed to be narcissistic, manipulative and selfish like this man is. So shameful.
I feel so sorry for her 😳 telling her she has to earn his praise, telling her she needs to go to the gym after just having a baby, not being willing to apologize but expecting her to move on…he’s sick. I feel so sorry for her and hope one day she can get out
I just got notification today that I got a job 😊 I'll be renting an apartment hopefully by February. I've been (homeless) a guest at families homes for 20 months. Covid and a bad car wreck (injuries)flipped my life upside down. I went from independent to dependent, I lost everything! So thankful for the email I got today about my new job. ✝️💖😊 I was blessed and happy with my little life, I'm glad to get to rebuild it again.
Your not alone! My situation is different than your but similar at the same time! I’m too a guest in my family’s home. In the middle of rebuilding too. ❤ congratulations on the job!
@@ronnie-lynn I'm praying for you that God open doors and give you joy in this time. That he move fast so that you may get settled in Jesus name amen ✝️💗
@@nateandsutton I am thankful beyond measure. God slowed me down for a reason. Your videos are awesome, I appreciate y'all. Thank you for all the wisdom you give. Xoxo Sebrina.
@SGM hi lady, congratulations! I had covid for 16 days, nearly died. Praise be to God for getting me through. You must be stoked at new year coming! Yay for you, from my UK 🇬🇧 recliner!
You are SO right in everything you have stated. I started watching The Minimal Mom and you have to watch her videos. She has inspired me to declutter, downsize, donate, etc and live a more simplistic life. It has been SO freeing. We have watched so many friends go bigger and bigger with their homes, cars, trips etc. Meanwhile, we have lived in our home for 36 years. We have done simple inexpensive changes year by year. We are now empty nesters and are so content with our one level simple home. And YES WE HAVE ROOM IN OUR DOUBLE CAR GARAGE to park our 12 year old cars inside. We have watched our town build more and more storage units which are a HUGE monthly costs for people. It is very freeing to live with less. Our motto is if we earn more we give more. We have owned our small retail store for 46 years. We work hard, give hard. Thank you for sharing your story of awareness to live a simple life!
I'm being reminded of Proverbs 27:20 (The eyes of man are never satisfied) 😔 May that not be spoken of our hearts. I'm so proud of you, Nate, for noticing the hold that "things" has had on your hearts. The Spirit is sooooo good to lovingly correct our wayward thinking and break the strongholds.
I had to stop this video and wanna share a bit of our story, we lived in canada basically our whole life, both of our Daughters where born there, our income was really good we could do whatever we desired, but we felt a calling to move back to where my husband was born,a third World Country, 2 years ago, we live on a very tight budget our income obviously is much much lower here, all the money my husband earns is much counted for, this past pay period we actually had 5 dollars leftover, which we are excited about 😂cause it tells us we can do this, but we don’t make enough to pay for our girls school tuition so we need to go back to Canada to work for a few weeks/Months out of the year to pay for that, but My husband and I spend so much time together now we do everything together our girls are happy here and I’ve honestly never experienced a peaceful life like this before and I wouldn’t trade it for the life we used to have when we could do much more, God is all powerful and He knows what’s best for His Children. Keep Sharing the truth , love you guys ❤
Thank you so much for sharing what God has placed in your hearts. I have been having similar thoughts about most of what you shared, so this is confirmation. Keep listening to His sweet Spirit. Love you two.
“A successful businessman on vacation was at the pier of a small coastal village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The businessman complimented the fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisherman proudly replied, “Every morning, I go out in my boat for 30 minutes to fish. I’m the best fisherman in the village”. The businessman, perplexed, then asks the fisherman “If you’re the best, why don’t you stay out longer and catch more fish? What do you do the rest of the day?” The fisherman replied “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, spend quality time with my wife, and every evening we stroll into the village to drink wine and play guitar with our friends. I have a full and happy life.” The businessman scoffed, “I am successful CEO and have a talent for spotting business opportunities. I can help you be more successful. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats with many fishermen. Instead of selling your catch to just your friends, you can scale to sell fish to thousands. You could leave this small coastal fishing village and move to the big city, where you can oversee your growing empire.” The fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?” To which the businessman replied, “15 - 20 years.” “But what then?” Asked the fisherman. The businessman laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions!” “Millions - then what?” The businessman said, “Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, spend time with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your friends.”
This is a great message, Nate and Sutton! How wonderful that God is showing this lesson to you now. God had me pare down my belongings substantially this year and it’s quite freeing. I am very appreciative of your vulnerability and letting us know the lessons God is teaching you. I really love small homes. I think they’re so cozy! May God bless you on this journey of finding out what kind of home is best for you.
I am pausing this video to say thank you and how good and how needed this video is. I am 58 and my husband is 61 and we too live in a very nice home too big for us since we became empty nester a few months ago. We have been donating unnecessary items...there are so many and my husband keeps asking me what we are doing for each other for Christmas. Our wants keep creeping onto the list but I believe we are going to donate to foster kids or kids in need and it feels right. Praise the Lord for His guidance 🙏
I have to admit, lately I have been worrying about not having a place of my own. My husband and I rent a very small apartment, rent right now its crazy a one bed one bath is about 1800. We don't even have a washer and dryer. But you both just reminded me where I need to focus my eyes, Thank you! We are blessed that we have no debt and that when we can, we are able to help those that need it. This life is more than just what we have or what we can get. It's all about Jesus, giving and serving others. :D
Whoa!! This video is SO refreshing. Thank you for living out a life changing conviction in front of so many. What a testimony of God's constant work in your hearts. This is so incredible to see. Praise God!! Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Just thank you all for your honesty and just I know it can be sometimes hard doing things like this. Thank you for allowing God to work in you and through you.
If I’m honest, I’d gone off your content lately as it felt very removed from your original content but this video today felt like your old content in the best way! Returning to scripture, talking about obedience & helping other brother & sisters in Christ. Really enjoyed it! Please continue with this type of content/your OG type! It brought me so much today when I really needed it! Thank you! ❤❤❤
I’m so impressed with your humility, your wisdom, your obedience and desire to truly follow God’s calling, and your unity of conviction. You, Nate, are such a great example of how to lead your family! And you, Sutton, are an absolute inspiration of how to be a submissive wife who really supports her husband! May God continue to bless your efforts and shine His face upon you and give you peace! 💝
@@nateandsutton Nate can't feed himself. How is that adult, let alone some kind of Godly leader (blaspheme much?). You guys still have no kids? Why? The Bible is clear on that. I know you'll just delete this comment, because you're just influencers selling this Christian perfection lie. That's a nice house! It didn't make you happy? Yeah obviously, are you 12? You're still a prick. You know I'm right. Do you think you can keep this up for ever? There are always dark secrets when you pretend to be perfect. I hope you have a great day, doing whatever the hell you want and calling it following Jesus.
I love your alls realness and convictions and I can relate so much to you all with Christmas, and other things you all share. You all are my kind of people. ❤️ Love your videos and you all too!
Wow! This is following God! My husband and I have been struggling with this deep down. We have dreams of a nice home in the country and things like that. Which is fine, but it's so easy to think my life is on hold until my kitchen is a little bigger or I have 2 bathrooms and chickens outside! But you're right that it won't actually make us happier! We have a great marriage, love the Lord, and have a second baby on the way! Life truly is good! I have to be honest that I was envious of your home and your willingness to GIVE IT UP if the Lord asks you to is so powerful! Just to have such a soft heart towards God's will whether you sell it or not is such an encouragement in my struggle to want more. Bless you! ❤️
I completely understand this video! I grew up in a run down Mobil home and I loved every bit of it. My parents were very wealthy but they lived like they were poor always giving to others and caring for children with disabilities. I want to be like them! I just got married and I'm living in an RV and I am so much happier living in a RV helping other than living in a huge house.
So encouraging to hear that God is working within your hearts ♥️ we as believers, as children of God need to always have His Word as a lamp to our feet so that it can lighten our path so that we can live a life pleasing before Him 🙏🏼
John Mark Comer has a special gift for sharing God’s message in a soul piercing way. I love his podcast episode about fasting. It was eye opening for sure.
It's so interesting to hear your perspectives on this matter. My husband and I are opposite of you guys. We have a small 1 bed 1 bath apartment with just a bed and drawers. We don't have a couch or a table to eat or anywhere to host guests. We do our best to focus on God and rejoice in Him. I can say it's been a very humbling experience living this way for over a year but painful at the same time. We barely make enough money to cover our bills and struggle to have anything extra for dates. We give out of every paycheck trusting that God will bless those who need it more and bring the increase. We often think about how we can't wait to see financial increase to help others more. I have seen through us consistently giving that God puts it on people's hearts to give us money without knowing our situation but it is always right on time to pay bills. God has been good to us growing our faith and trust in Him. I always think I want to be in a position of abundance to be able to give because I know what it is to have lack. But like you guys said, the more money, the greater the responsibilities. The ideal would be enough to cover bills, enjoy life with family, and also help those who are struggling. Whether we have much or little, our hearts must remain in a servant state towards God knowing that we will reap what we sow. If we give, it will be given back to us. It does seem like it's harder to give when your bank accounts are full because our flesh wants to rule us. Praying for all of us to have hearts of obedience, surrender, and discipline to God to maintain humility and giving in all states or conditions.
What a blessing your hearts were open to His leading. My husband & I came to this crossroad of the “American dream” several years ago. We too chose His prompting to pursue a life of less… and in the process has blessed us with more children & the means to provide for each one. It’s been amazing :) Our family is better for it! Praying your journey is just as enlightening & blessed!
My husband and I have been married for almost two years and have been in a small two bedroom apartment the entire time. We desire a bigger space to fit more people, and I appreciate this reminder that we don’t need to fill that space with things. Recently, the Lord has helped me realize that my feelings about our apartment not being big enough stem from pride and that I can still be a good hostess in this space. It’s how I use it that matters, not how big or small it may be. If we don’t use this smaller space well, how can we be trusted to use a bigger space well? It’s like the parable of the talents🙂thank y’all for sharing what God has been doing in y’all’s life!
God gave both him and Sutton a wonderful family. Sutton has everything she needs to live a wonderful comfortable life. She’s always sharing her own thoughts and teases him more times then not. Your jealous and your not worth it 😅
This has been a crazy year for us! My husband lost his job (I don't work outside the home) We both got covid (really bad) My husband has suffered with mental health issues ever since. He was in and out of hospital 3 times. Then in August my mom passed! We have been living off the money we had in the bank from the sale of our house 4 years ago. We thought that money would be used for a new home or retirement but life happened! We are learning to live simply and learning to trust God! And yes,it's hard but He is with us on this journey and He is Faithful! I hope this encourages someone! Please keep us in your prayers! Love watching you guys,Nate and Sutton! God bless you and your family!
Honestly the minute you guys moved into this house I immediately thought, oh this house isn’t ‘Nate and Sutton’ so I wasn’t surprised at this video. Whatever you do decide it’s very evident your hearts are in the very right place❤ God bless you and thank you for continuing to grow and teach us how to grow too.
I’ve been convicted about this too! We are going to majorly downsize/minimalize in our family, with the desire to be more thankful and creative with what we have instead of entitled and expectant about things we don’t! Our kids had so many toys, I felt like everyday I was just picking up ALL DAY LONG but they barely played with things, just got stuff out and went on to the next thing (we have 3 under 3). I realized we don’t need or even want most of the stuff we have, so it will be going. Each kid will get to keep their favorite toys and that’s it. If someone gives us more as gifts, they can either trade out one of their older toys, or give away the new gift - we’re done adding to the clutter!
This word was good guys. No need to feel that you poured out too much on us. We receive the message in its fullness and thank you for being obedient to delivering it! I also have practiced minimalism more over the past few years and before my son could get new toys I asked him to give away all the ones he currently had. The same goes for clothes, kitchenware, linen, and more items. I don’t believe in a life of excessive accumulation of things. I used to have a battle that if God makes me wealthy, will I not keep my core values and just start accumulating things, and I remembered that God can make us financially secure and abundant but that doesn’t mean we have to live in excess. We can still be financially secure minimalists and learn to give more than we receive/ accumulate. Thats is my desire. I desire to have financial freedom but also to be humble enough to know that the money is still to be used in the kingdom of the lord not for my flesh!!! Its okay to have nice things. God doesn’t promote us to be poor and in lack, but he also hates selfishness and insatiable appetites for greed. If we have abundance it should be for living well, generational wellbeing, community outreach, helping those in need, and proper education. God can do anything for us, but with what he does, we have to appreciate it and be conscious of what we do with our blessings. ♥️God bless you two!
This does not apply to me at this point in my life. I have been struggling for 3 years since fleeing an abusive marriage with nothing and being dragged through the court this whole time, and it has caused me to experience hate and abuse amongst my family members that have been helping to support me. I am naturopathic doctor and I have been really trying this whole time, but I fled to Texas because that is where my family is, and no one knows what I do here. Please anyone that reads this pray that my situation will turn around and God will provide for me. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you all.
my grandma was a hoarder, and in some was i inherited that trait, but i've learned and worked really hard to not be like that. i definitely need to be better at it, but the Lord helps me to not be so attached to things and material possessions. every time i feel the desire to purchase something or to have more stuff, the Holy Spirit reminds me that the only thing i can bring to heaven is my character. materials possessions are very much temporary.
This is my list of Christmas tradition ideas focused on Jesus * Make cake for Jesus together as a family on Christmas Eve! * Read Christmas story Luke 2:1-20 * Church service * 3 gifts per child because that’s how many gifts Jesus got. (Something they need/to wear, something to read, something they want) * Jesse tree * Write a letter to sponsored child * Operation Christmas child * Angel tree * Give to someone anonymously as a family * Moving nativity scene/ countdown to Bethlehem * The manger mission * Give gifts to Jesus * 25 days for Christ advent * Giving manger * Sleep on the floor on Christmas Eve to remember Mary and Joseph who couldn’t sleep in a bed that night * Have a box with index cards that your family writes your blessings on throughout the year. Christmas morning the family reads all the blessings from the year * Bake dessert with kids to give to family/friends/neighbors * write a prayer for each child in a blank journal and then read that prayer to them out loud on Christmas, adding a new prayer each year! Then they can keep the journal when they are older * Special Christmas dinner * Character cards create birthday cards for Jesus, and as our “gift” to Him, we try to better observe the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23, the quality or attribute most challenging to each of us. For one child it might be patience, for another self-control. We brainstorm situations and actions that strengthen our patience, such as waiting for a turn, or self-control in sharing belongings without becoming angry. Then we write or draw these ideas on our cards. On Christmas Eve, the completed cards are placed in a stocking, to be opened and shared with the family on Christmas morning. Each child is able to celebrate the birthday of Jesus in a personal, tangible way, becoming “doers” of the Word and growing in strength of character. * Names of Jesus Christmas decorations We cut out stars from cardstock paper and wrote “Jesus is …” on each one. Then we wrote words that described Jesus, such as “Savior,” “Emmanuel” and “Prince of Peace.” For our family devotions that night, we talked about the different names of Jesus. Creating these stars to decorate our kitchen cabinets was a great way to engage my kids in remembering the character of Jesus. * Prayer box of Christmas cards Put Christmas cards in a box and add to it each year. Leading up to Christmas let the kids choose the Christmas card out of the box and you pray for that family.
Omg these are amazing! My family has done the cake for Jesus for the past two years we love that idea! And we had not thought of the three gifts each, I really love that too! Thank you for sharing all of these!
This came at the right time. God's been giving me these kind of reminders daily for a big decision I've made to tell me it's the right decision. Thank you guys for sharing 💛
I love and appreciate how honest and raw you both are about what’s going on in the world/culture! God bless you and your family. ❤ Thank you for speaking truth on topics that need to be heard and spoken about. Peace in Christ.
Y'all this was real talk. Thanks for speaking on this. My husband and I both work in ministry and live paycheck to paycheck. We long for the season when we don't feel financially stressed. But at the same time, we know we are developing valuable life lessons in finding our contentment in Christ, not stuff. And the Lord has been teaching us so much about faithfulness and trusting Him, which we wouldn't necessarily be learning if we were financially thriving. So, thanks for speaking on this. You are so right - you can't love God and money.
wow wow wow! I just wanted to press the like button so many times during this video 😂 what a message! Thank you for our transparency. Big Hi from Switzerland, the country of wealth. We need Jesus so much!
what a timing! I was just thinking to myself how much I've been consuming in the past weeks and noticing more thoughts coming up about what else I "need". It brought me back to asking myself: "How can I find more love and more joy in creating instead"? And then I landed on this video :) Thank you for this reminder, it is so easy to fall into the trap of MORE.
When my children were young we never did Santa but Jesus. Most of the gifts we gave were necessities with a few extras. As grandparents we stopped buying gifts at Christmas a few years ago. We were feeling so overwhelmed in our society at Christmas time. Even Christians who say it’s about Jesus rarely spend time focused on Jesus ( us too!) in the month of December. So much time is spent on parties, parades, plays, school events, even movies that have nothing to do with Jesus at church! We said enough. I don’t have a tree either. I decorate for winter like I decorate for fall. Each day we focus on Jesus. My favorite Christmas movie is the 2006 The nativity story! We just watched it with our grandchildren. They see the difference between our home and what the world says is Christmas. May the Lord lead you into a deeper relationship with Him everyday🙏🏻. God bless you all.
Thanks for being honest and transparent about what true riches are! Some of the poorest are the most happy especially if a Christian. We have never let Christmas dominate our lives and stress us out! No decorations or gifts!
I’m so proud of you guys🤗 You have managed to fight the trick of affluence while living in it. I disconnected when I lived overseas, but you two did it while surrounded with it all. God is obviously preparing you for a very special journey. God bless your home🤗
Such an amazing topic!!! Same thing God has been placing in my heart. Every Christmas my family and I do secret Santa. Last year as we received our gifts, no one seemed excited :( We get all we want throughout the year, since we all got Amazon Prime and are able to buy all we ever need. This year we are not doing secret Santa because we have everything. Is very sad actually. I remember having nothing and when I got something, I was so thankful and appreciative of God for providing. Praying my family and I can start filing our hearts with more of Jesus and less of the world 🙏
Thanks for your perspective. I feel like the move to 'minimalism" , downsizing and career change at every turn has, in many cases, been a knee jerk reaction to abundance and can often represent a lack of contentment as well. If you believe that God lead you to your house, if you bought within your budget, and if you live within your means, maybe you can best honor God by staying put and using what He has given you . Comparison robs joy, so we all need to be careful and be content with what we have wherever we are. Keep up the good work !!
This guy is like my ex-husband. So narcissistic and arrogant. Poor wife. I could not stay in a very manipulative and condescending marriage. He hid his sins so well. Religiousguys are just the worst.
Take their advice so you don’t end up with a second ex. They have their imperfections and they talk about it and how they can overcome it the Christian way. Nate gives Sutton every opportunity he can to speak what’s on her mind and obviously she doesn’t hold back. Maybe you need to check the definitions of narcissistic arrogant manipulative and condescending before you start judging.
Oh my gosh! I've been getting convicted of simplifying and being content lately so this video is right on time for me. Thank you for your honesty and transparency in sharing what Jesus is doing in your lives. This video has so many good points and one that I need to come back too. I'm starting my piles Sutton!! 🥰
“Labour not to be rich: Cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away as an eagle toward heaven.” Proverbs 23:4-5 “I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35 KJV Proverbs 23 is the passage of scripture that the Lord opened the door to be read in my daily devos, which was a total God coincidence due to it being the day that this video was published and watched by me. It was something that just God really hit on throughout the video as well as when studying His Word. These three verses really say so much towards what you all pointed to in the video. Thank you so much.
This is so awesome! My husband and I received the same revelation from the Lord a couple of years ago. Holy Spirit convicted us in the way we were living in abundance. We made some changes and kept surrendering more to Him. And now we’re living as full time missionaries in India with our 4 kids! It’s amazing how God can use you when you continue to seek Him and His kingdom. I would have never imagined living in India but this is where He called us! Keep seeking Him and obeying His Spirit. He will continue to use y’all mightily! Bless y’all!
I concur with this! It’s so true!! It’s like we and God have shovels and as we give and give the blessings out, God shovels the blessings back in, but His shovel is bigger than ours! We always end up with more! Acts 20:35, Proverbs 13:7, II Corinthians 8:14-15
I love this video! My husband and I are struggling to decide about building our dream home. We love our property and live in a small house with 6 people. But building would be a huge investment and we really aren't sure if that's the right place to put a lot of our money. We want to give & make sure we can be generous more and more. We also never want to make money an issue or not be content with what we have. It's so hard to decide to not do what it seems like everyone is doing and what will make our life "easier & better". I do feel like God has been pulling me toward not building but it's so hard to part with what I thought our dream was. Really evaluating all these things right now. It is hard to see "everyone" with Pinterest perfect homes and not feel like that's the goal. The temptation is hard.
Nate and Sutton...!! It's exciting to see you guys grow in God over the years. Thank you for sharing this burden, I bear witness to it. Thank you for yielding to Jesus. I love you guys soooo much. Mercy. From Nigeria. 💜❤️
1 Timothy 6:6-10 speaks on contentment. Godliness with contentment is great gain. We can also choose gratitude to steer away from greed. May we all see His goodness in our lives more clearly and that will make for a happier heart ❤
I think the only thing I'd add is to say that gratitude is the antidote to greed. When you realise just how much God has blessed you with, everything else doesn't matter. Living simply can be just as much of an idol as the greed for more stuff, but what you're giving thanks to God for everything (little or much), you don't need to worry about the stuff.
I don’t think you necessarily have to live in a small house, just not anything extremely excessive. We live in a 3500 sq ft home but we also have 4 boys. We need the space especially as they get older. And we also host a lot of family. One thing I have to remind myself to not get caught up in is constantly remodeling, changing decor or keeping up with trends. I’m instead trying to focus on keeping the stuff we have nice and keeping things clean. I really love the direction of your hearts! It was a good reminder to scale back on spending. ❤
I'm not being mean at all, but can tell you are much younger than me and were raised way after I was. 3500 sf for a family of six is huge. I grew up with kids from families of four kids that lived in 3 bedroom one bath homes that were 1200 sq ft. Kids shared bedrooms back then. Girls in one room, boys in another. My coworker now talks about how he shared a bed - not just a bedroom, with his brother until he graduated highschool. Didn't think a thing about it because that's what everyone did in middle class America in the 50's through 1972. Crazy huh?! I truly think starting with the 1970's, materialism and excessive everything started being pushed on all of us Americans. "For the love of money is the root of all evil."
@@LaLadybug2011 respectively, I still don’t think 3500 is massive with a large family. I know families with 5000+ sq ft homes. There are many mini mansions around where we live. My house is large, I just don’t feel like it’s excessive. We are able to live within our means and still give at this level. I do know our blessings though. ❤️
I love this video, and I remember thinking when you moved into this home God was gonna talk to Nate and it probably wouldn’t be permanent. This really made me look at a lot of things especially how many kids view money it makes me sad that we think it’s the key to happiness.
Hey, i Love you both So much!!!! Agree to 100%!!!! It's all truth. Appreciate your openness and vulnerability so very much. You are role model for Christian life and families. God is working on you and with you and through you. Merry Christmas! Stay blessed! In love, Karen
I’m very proud of both of you at such a young stage in your lives to realize the value of becoming less materialistic. I grew up one of six siblings and only one bathroom (and it was a standard bathroom, not like these massive bathrooms in today’s home with walk in showers and jacuzzi tubs, lol). My husband and I have four children and live in a four bedroom home with four bathrooms and I love it and loved raising our children in it, but it really is not necessary and lots to maintain too. I look forward to only cleaning one bathroom when we downsize!
You two are blessed and it's awesome!! A great reason to increase is so that we can GIVE more. Proverbs 13:22 "A righteous man leaves and inheritance to his children's children." The more we have, the more we can give. We live in an economic world and it takes money to spread the gospel to the Nations. Missionaries will be the first to tell you that they need money to dig wells and bring medical supplies overseas. Money is a blessing from God if it's in the right hands and being stewarded properly. You two are awesome! Do whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do! Matthew 7:11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
We moved into a bigger home last December. From 980 square feet to 1791 square feet. Which may not seem very large to most people. But the change has been hard. It is needed because we were squeezed into what felt like a storage unit with 3 kids. But life has definitely become more hectic because of more space. It’s more to clean, more area for toys and clothes to be in places they don’t belong. When we were choosing a floor plan, I told my husband we could go with a 1500 square foot house, but he was unsure. I regret not getting the 1500 square foot house. Maybe I’m wrong… I don’t know.
This just might be your best video yet... at least it's top of my list! 🥰 I love the raw honesty and humility. I remember watching your house tour video and feeling a sense that it might be to you what my first house was to me: a lived realisation that a Long time desire was not really what I wanted, but what I'd been taught to want. It's beautiful really. Don't let people tell you it's a lack of gratitude because I can see that it's actually the polar opposite in your hearts. A revelation that excess is not your desire, is a special type of gratitude. 💞
Sometimes the lessons best learned are learned the hard way. That’s my experience at least. All praise to the Lord for His mercy and love to reveal that truth to you both, especially you Nate as the head of the house. Thank you for sharing your conviction and I pray our Heavenly Father gives you perfect direction on where and how to spend the excess. Blessings to you both ❤️
This was great. Thank You for this video. Very much needed so people could be blessed and try to understand these situations. P.S. May I have your house lolol. Me and my 2 teens would just love it, 🤗
I just love you two!!! You were right on with what you said. May God continue to give you wisdom and blessings! I'm 67 years old, sold my little townhome that I loved. Had to get rid of a LOT!! God provided strength. I realize now, more than at any other time in my life, that life IS a vapor, as God's word says. If I could go back I would do more for the Lord. The material things just evaporate. Great wise video!!!!
Man! I wish I could like this video 1000000 times!! Such a good message and reminder! I really needed it! It’d be so cool to actually know you guys and be apart of your lives to catch up with and grow in faith with, you are such cool people. Please keep sharing because these messages are so valuable 🙌🏻💛
Thank you for sharing about your vision Nate. Funny when you first mentioned you needed a bigger house, my immediate reaction was you don't. I've always dreamed of bigger houses but whenever I'm in someone's beautiful very large home I don't have that cozy feeling of home. It feels emptier somehow, even if they have a lot of things. Not to mention the maintenance and more things to worry about. Well, blessings to you and your family. I am thankful for your videos because they always leave me wanting to spend time with Jesus. Thank you
Thank you for talking about this topic. I feel like I have fallen into the trap of what can have next. How do I get more money? How do I afford the next big thing I always forget to consider if I truly need it. 99% of the time I don't need it and could use that money in a much wiser way. I feel like God has been convicting me in this but I have been trying to tune him out. God was definitely in this video talking through you guys. Thank you again for listening to God and sharing what He reveals to you guys. Have a blessed day and Merry Christmas!!
"He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; Nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity." Ecclesiastes 5:10 This poignant verse is a strong reminder that even the possessions we love will not bring us true satisfaction and that obtaining more of them will not satisfy us either. I also like to customize this verse and substitute the word 'silver' with whatever I am thinking of splurging on. I say to myself "She who loves 'earrings' will not be satisfied with 'earrings'..." lol. It's actually been very helpful!
This happened me, but in a different way. I grew up having to 'work' for my dad's affection and so I became obsessed and driven to constantly work towards better and better (and more expensive) university courses!!! After achieving huge things academically I realised I would never really have my dad's love and really....why was I doing this? Praise God, He stepped in and I am now able to rest in His peace. God bless you guys and your family and wishing you a beautiful Christmas xx P.S. you always look effortlessly beautiful Sutton. From one sister to another, I'd love if you also did a channel on skincare, modest clothing etc x
You are blessed to be a blessing. The Lord wants us to be prosperous so that we can sow into the Kingdom. Maybe ask Him where you should sow seed. Excellent topic, Christmas has become about greed and commercialism 🙏🏻
We have a perfect amount of sq footage. Less than 1800 sq ft for 4 people. The layout is just not good. Can’t fit a normal size couch in the living room. We host our community group sometimes and it’s just 14 people squished in there. So we do want to remodel, but I truly don’t need more space. If I need space I can go outside. I want less stuff too. I’m glad y’all are starting this while the kids are little. We have one adult kid at home and one teen. I think when they move out we will have grandbabies by then from my other married kids. But if not, we’ll have 3 guest bedrooms lol Side note: I LOVE The Chosen! I was in episode 1 and will be in a couple more this season. It’s a HUGE blessing!!!!
You could seek for a special project each year for your family, eg.building a well ..where there is no clean water...., could find some amazing places to bless others ... you are so right. And perhaps agree to only one special gift per person àt home. So much more blessed to give than to receive.
We just moved from what we thought was going to be the rest of our lives, 1,600 sq. ft. But with health issues, we moved to be with our kids and downsized again to 1,100 sq. ft. and I'm so glad we got rid of so much. I really think it's time to reevaluate our lives, because we are in the END TIMES for sure! You can do it, God is good, and the time is short!
Honestly, I've avoided your channel lately because I didn't really agree with the bigger and better premise I noticed re your housing etc. I am pleased that I clicked on this today to see that you are re-considering this mindset. Having had big houses through the (married) years and now living in below market rental after a difficult divorce, my satisfaction level is far greater than having the large home that I could never afford to decorate and never feeling satisfied... And I make lots less than 70K in retirement (less than 30K in fact.) So congrats to you for recognizing this at less than half my age! It will make life so much more satisfying in the end. God Bless you and your sweet boys.
Heavenly Father, may we all who are called by your name be rich toward our Gracious God! Thank you for my brother and sister Nate and Sutton! We are of one mind in Christ! Yay! Father, thank you so much for encouraging, strengthening, and preparing Nate and Sutton to bear the 100 fold fruit that lasts! For it is written in Mark 4:19-20 “but the worries of this age, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. And those like seed sown on good ground hear the word, welcome it, and produce fruit thirty, sixty, and a hundred times what was sown.” Blessings Father on all who hear and become fruitful and rich toward our God! In Jesus Name, Amen! Love you Nate and Sutton! Pray for you and your offspring daily!
Love this topic! I first started watching the Minimalists in 2017 and their documentary Minimalism as well as their newer one Less is Now talk about this exact thing. So refreshing to stop the process of constantly wanting more!
Thank you so much for sharing. This is definitely the Lord speaking. I too will examine my life. The Bible says where your treasure is there your heart will be also. This shows such growth and maturity on your part, Nate and Sutton. Well done, and thank you. May God bless you with His joy, His peace and the prosperity of having a heart overflowing with His love.
Doesn't The Chosen mix several different theologies? For instance in the show Jesus says "I am the law" which is from the book of Mormon. I'm curious what ur thoughts are or if you've ever heard this about it?
I watched another video that shed some light on this topic. Apparently, the producers did not take this line from Mormonism. The video also went on to say that we are quick to believe the worst. Sometimes it’s best to do our own research instead of listening to gossip. The Holy Spirit will lead us in the right direction. I personally still need to look into this, just sharing some takeaways from that video.
You are correct. People need to use discernment when watching the chosen. I am not watching it. From clips I’ve seen from this series, I have no interest in watching it and I think people are being deceived in the subtlety of Mormonism in it.
People who aren't familiar with scripture as a whole can't discern this show very well. I think if you're really familiar with the Bible and theology you can. So I'm kind of mixed about it.
I always look forward to your videos! This is an amazing revelation you have had and it’s funny I did always think watching your videos like man they are living the dream, beautiful family, gorgeous house, and followers of Christ .. thank you for being so honest with your viewers and this is a great reminder to us all especially during the Christmas season❤
Love you, guys, and your honesty, vulnerability and transparency, I totally felt with you and agree with your points, may the Lord help us set our priorities right and pull up a chair for Him daily, put Him first even with our possessions in a practical way and store up treasures in heaven and invest in His Kingdom=His people! ❤️🤗🙏
I feel so bad for Sutton….I’ve been seeing clips of the two of you interacting and I hope one day you get to experience what it’s like to have a partner who actually listens to and values you, and doesn’t hide behind God as a way to work around not doing the work to be an actual good husband 😬
what are you even talking about? she is so in love with him and you can tell in every video how much they love eachother...
Thank youuuu!!!!! Seeing their videos is so sad and depressing. She deserves so much better.
You guys are going absolutely viral on tiktok and everyone can see right through Nate..
The whole comment section on tiktok is way different than this one lol
Yeah, I’m a Christian and I’ve never seen a more perfect example of someone who is Christian in name only. He’s not fooling anyone else but his poor wife & I’m concerned for her safety and well-being. His actions speak volumes, and God knows. He can pretend all he wants online for likes and views, but treating his wife so poorly is disgraceful. Christians aren’t supposed to be narcissistic, manipulative and selfish like this man is. So shameful.
Because he is the only one fooled by his toxicity. Nobody else buys his bullshit
I feel so sorry for her 😳 telling her she has to earn his praise, telling her she needs to go to the gym after just having a baby, not being willing to apologize but expecting her to move on…he’s sick. I feel so sorry for her and hope one day she can get out
100%. He idols himself, not God.
Wow!! That’s amazing! Congratulations 🤩🙌🏽🙏🏽
The Minimal Mom is life changing!!
Oo love that verse 🔥🔥
Love when God uses someone else to confirm our own thoughts/convictions 🙏🏽
@@nateandsutton How do you know this is God and not the Devil? Oh right, because they agree with you.
What do you do the rest of the day?”
The fisherman replied “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, spend quality time with my wife, and every evening we stroll into the village to drink wine and play guitar with our friends. I have a full and happy life.”
The businessman scoffed, “I am successful CEO and have a talent for spotting business opportunities. You could leave this small coastal fishing village and move to the big city, where you can oversee your growing empire.”
The fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?”
To which the businessman replied, “15 - 20 years.”
“But what then?” Asked the fisherman.
The businessman laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions!”
“Millions - then what?”
The businessman said, “Then you would retire.
Oh, my!! Good story. Revealing. Thanks for posting it.
@@sherryware Yes I agree 💯! 🙏🏻✝️🤗
I have lived this life. Having lots brings more responsibility....
The greatest test is giving MORE than you have or need.
God bless.
Such a beautiful message ❤️. Thank you for sharing
Love that idea! That will def feel better than getting anything! 😄🙌🏽
🙌🙌🙌🕊
Thank you 🥹🥹💛
@@nateandsutton Nate can't feed himself.
💛💛
Bless you! ❤️
Thank you for being honest and putting yourselves out there. I know this probably wasn’t easy to admit but it was very encouraging to hear.
💛
I completely understand this video! I grew up in a run down Mobil home and I loved every bit of it. My parents were very wealthy but they lived like they were poor always giving to others and caring for children with disabilities. I want to be like them! I just got married and I'm living in an RV and I am so much happier living in a RV helping other than living in a huge house.
I love this so much! #goals
This is so good! I recently listened to a message about sacrificial giving and how life changing it is!
You all inspire me . ❤️❤️✝️ so humble and honest . It’s not easy

Amazing!
Nate is blessed to have been given such a wonderful family… hope he can get out of his own way and humble himself. He isn’t worthy of any of it.
We have been living off the money we had in the bank
from the sale of our house 4 years ago.
Very well said! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
That’s awesome!!
I think hoarding is so common in our country! There are different levels, but happy for you for breakin that generational curse!
This is my list of Christmas tradition ideas focused on Jesus
* Make cake for Jesus together as a family on Christmas Eve!
* Read Christmas story Luke 2:1-20
* Church service
* 3 gifts per child because that’s how many gifts Jesus got. (Something they need/to wear, something to read, something they want)
* Jesse tree
* Write a letter to sponsored child
* Operation Christmas child
* Angel tree
* Give to someone anonymously as a family
* Moving nativity scene/ countdown to Bethlehem
* The manger mission
* Give gifts to Jesus
* 25 days for Christ advent
* Giving manger
* Sleep on the floor on Christmas Eve to remember Mary and Joseph who couldn’t sleep in a bed that night
* Have a box with index cards that your family writes your blessings on throughout the year. Christmas morning the family reads all the blessings from the year
* Bake dessert with kids to give to family/friends/neighbors
* write a prayer for each child in a blank journal and then read that prayer to them out loud on Christmas, adding a new prayer each year! Then they can keep the journal when they are older
* Special Christmas dinner
* Character cards
create birthday cards for Jesus, and as our “gift” to Him, we try to better observe the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23, the quality or attribute most challenging to each of us.
* Names of Jesus Christmas decorations
We cut out stars from cardstock paper and wrote “Jesus is …” on each one. Then
we wrote words that described Jesus, such as “Savior,” “Emmanuel” and “Prince of Peace.” For our
family devotions that night, we talked about the different names of Jesus. Creating these stars to
decorate our kitchen cabinets was a great way to engage my kids in remembering the character of
Jesus.
* Prayer box of Christmas cards
Put Christmas cards in a box and add to it each year. Leading up to Christmas let the kids choose the Christmas card out of the box and you pray for that family.
Omg these are amazing! My family has done the cake for Jesus for the past two years we love that idea! And we had not thought of the three gifts each, I really love that too! Thank you for sharing all of these!
Awesome video guys. Thank you SO much for sharing! Very timely with what my husband and I have been talking about 😃 God bless 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
One of the best videos I’ve ever watched!
what a timing!
Excellent video Nate and Sutton!!!
EXCELLENT!!!!
Thank you!!!
I’m so proud of you guys🤗 You have managed to fight the trick of affluence while living in it. I disconnected when I lived overseas, but you two did it while surrounded with it all. God is obviously preparing you for a very special journey. God bless your home🤗
This is such a great reminder! Thank you so much for posting!
i commend you both for talking about this topic. what a blessing you both are to us your viewers. God Bless and Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much for your transparency and for the inspiration
Thank you for being honest about what you have and how it makes you feel. Only God can make us happy. We all need to remember that.
For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away as an eagle toward heaven.”
Proverbs 23:4-5
“I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Acts 20:35 KJV
Proverbs 23 is the passage of scripture that the Lord opened the door to be read in my daily devos, which was a total God coincidence due to it being the day that this video was published and watched by me.
Wow what a cool story!
Going through the exact same thing, parting with what we thought was our “dream”. It’s honestly freeing 😅
Nate and Sutton...!! It's exciting to see you guys grow in God over the years. Thank you for sharing this burden, I bear witness to it. Thank you for yielding to Jesus. I love you guys soooo much.
Mercy.
From Nigeria. 💜❤️
💛💛
Awesome and phenomenal video!!! Love every minute of this!!!! Thank you for enlightening truth 🙋🏽♀️🙌🏼💯♥️👊🏼💪🏼💣💣💣💣💣💣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you! 💛
Y’all are the best. I appreciate your videos so much. The love of God shines through y’all
Wow thank you 🥹🥹
1 Timothy 6:6-10 speaks on contentment.
@@LaLadybug2011 and yes, I know times have changed SO much! Houses were much smaller.
@@Mrs.Butterworth we live in Missouri so it was extremely cheap 😂 guess I should have led with that.
I love this video, and I remember thinking when you moved into this home God was gonna talk to Nate and it probably wouldn’t be permanent. This really made me look at a lot of things especially how many kids view money it makes me sad that we think it’s the key to happiness.
I really learnt a lot. Thanks guys, God bless for sharing
This is soo encouraging that there are God-fearing people like yourselves out there! Keep up the good work!
Hey, i Love you both So much!!!!
Agree to 100%!!!! It's all truth. Appreciate your openness and vulnerability so very much. You are role model for Christian life and families. God is working on you and with you and through you.
Merry Christmas! Stay blessed!
In love, Karen
Love you guys - praying for you both!
I love the raw honesty and humility.
wow I love this so much!! its equally convicting and encouraging. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings to you both ❤️
Probably one of the most amazing videos you made ❤️
Wow thank you!!
This was great. Thank You for this video. Very much needed so people could be blessed and try to understand these situations. P.S. May I have your house lolol. Me and my 2 teens would just love it, 🤗
🤣 that would be awesome if we could just give it away!
This is so sweet 🥹 thank you! Who knows, maybe one day we’ll meet each other! 😄
@@nateandsutton that would be very special!☺️😆
Thank you for sharing about your vision Nate. Funny when you first mentioned you needed a bigger house, my immediate reaction was you don't. I've always dreamed of bigger houses but whenever I'm in someone's beautiful very large home I don't have that cozy feeling of home. It feels emptier somehow, even if they have a lot of things. Not to mention the maintenance and more things to worry about. Well, blessings to you and your family. I am thankful for your videos because they always leave me wanting to spend time with Jesus. Thank you
So much wisdom! Another great video and a reminder for myself to be content in the Lord.
This also is vanity."
Ecclesiastes 5:10
This poignant verse is a strong reminder that even the possessions we love will not bring us true satisfaction and that obtaining more of them will not satisfy us either.
God bless you guys and your family and wishing you a beautiful Christmas xx
P.S. you always look effortlessly beautiful Sutton.
But if not, we’ll have 3 guest bedrooms lol
Side note: I LOVE The Chosen!
Love that idea!!
Bless your family, your couple is so unique. Thank you for being honest❤
Yes!!! You're back!! Thank you for the video!!
💛
Honestly, I've avoided your channel lately because I didn't really agree with the bigger and better premise I noticed re your housing etc. I am pleased that I clicked on this today to see that you are re-considering this mindset. Having had big houses through the (married) years and now living in below market rental after a difficult divorce, my satisfaction level is far greater than having the large home that I could never afford to decorate and never feeling satisfied... And I make lots less than 70K in retirement (less than 30K in fact.)
So congrats to you for recognizing this at less than half my age! It will make life so much more satisfying in the end. God Bless you and your sweet boys.
Heavenly Father, may we all who are called by your name be rich toward our Gracious God! Thank you for my brother and sister Nate and Sutton! We are of one mind in Christ! Yay! Father, thank you so much for encouraging, strengthening, and preparing Nate and Sutton to
bear the 100 fold fruit that lasts!
This is amazing ! I’m sharing this video to all my friends 🙌🏻
Please do!
Thank you 💛
Doesn't The Chosen mix several different theologies?
And here I am, getting inspired by y'all and want a similar home and land. Thanks for this video
