What should you do with tax-exempt TSP contributions?

Not sure what you should with those combat zone tax-exempt contributions you made to your TSP account when you leave the military?
While having all of your combat zone pay being exempt from taxes is a HUGE bonus for service members, the IRS rules governing the tax-treatment of those funds within the TSP can make it very confusing if you want to roll those funds over to another retirement account.
