Extracting Gordon Freeman’s model the day after Half Life: Alyx came out

- The voice with the stupidly low volume is me. I’m not sure why it was so low, I think it might have been recording from my VR headset mic.
This is a blind reaction of me and my friends unpacking the model. This was only a day after the game came out and I had beaten the game for the first time just an hour and a half prior.

I’ve always wondered how action protagonists with glasses can go through all that stuff without them falling off. Though I’ve never wore glasses before so they could be less loose than I thought.
Funny thing is there was like a planned but cut enemy that knocked Gordon's glasses off.
Glad his face at least somewhat resembles the box art we're all used to.
I bet that after this one, I need Gordon fully speaking for the first time like Doom Slayer did in Doom Eternal. And we'll shit brick happy with that.

aymn You can’t “speak” for Gordon. Else they would have made the dialogue interactive. Even the characters note his silence.
I just realized when Gordon gets off the ground and puts his glasses back on, that's him immediately after the ending of Episode 2. That's why his suit is all burnt up, and why Gordon is standing when the player transitions to him post credits.

@@johnivanoplimo5172 I've wondered for years how they'd tackle Gordon putting on a Mark VI. With the 'Eli is dead' ending in what would have been Episode 3, Gordon would already be wearing his Mark V so there'd be no need to get him out of it.
Having the player put on the H.E.V. suit was always an important part of the introduction to HL1 and HL2 (both big mainline Half-Life games). With the rewritten timeline for HL3, Gordon, Eli, and the resistance at White Forest could take a little bit of time to track down the G-Man, sort out the Borealis mission. By then the White Forest base will have upgraded Gordon's H.E.V. suit into a Mark VI waiting to be put on.
Exactly thats why he lost his glasses and he is on the ground, you are just watching the future events from another perspective in time/space, just when Alyx saves Eli from the advisor Eli also falls to the ground and does some weird movements looking at the place where Alyx was in EP2 probably also saying something, like maybe Eli saw how she dissapeared or how she talked with Gman, all while Gordon probably was knocked out or barely waking up.

there's assets in the half life alyx files that were originally intended for half life 3, this model is probably one of them.
Also considering the after credits
His gloves were fully rendered, so maybe at the same time they decided to just go all out with the model and just get the silhouette out.

K-Soursin 123 there technically was but it was the hl1 model but with cement textured all over it. So no since they reused the hl1 model

This might make sense, everything in Half-Life 2 plays out how did and Gordon does see Eli die, however when the Advisors release him he passes out. While he’s Past out Gman takes the time to rewind things without affecting Gordon to make Eli survive and to put alyx in stasis. Gordon than wakes up to Eli and he’s confused.
Yeah in the HL2EP2 ending Gordon lays on the ground looking at Alyx crying and Eli dead and then everything turns to black. In HL3 he wakes up and Alyx is gone and Eli is alive he will be know this is some Gman shit going on.

I like the fact they put so much detail on his face it makes me smile considering the end his face is barely seeable

I think these animations were made for the ending since you are Gordon for a short while. Maybe you were supposed to view it from Alyx's perspective but Eli and Gordon wouldn't see you.
Tlonigamer actually they appear in game, at the end. When the G-man talks to Alyx about Gordon, you can see Gordon doing this
animation but the cutscene is a bit to dark to notice when your watching the first time around
This is actually when Gordon gets up after what happened in Episode 2, picks up his glasses and soon..... what will happened in hl3 or episode 3. Gordon actually couldn't see the Player during this scene

This is the animation at the end of the game, where Gman shows a silhouette of Gordon and talking about how Gordon is unwilling to do the task Gman gave to him.

I wonder if somewhere down the line they’ll change the ending in the actual HL2E2 game, sort of like how they added the scene of Chel being dragged away in Portal to hint at a Portal 2. I’d like to see this timeline change from Gordon’s perspective

the first one its the half life 1 and of course half life 2 does't have one
but this is pretty cool we get to see gordon for the first time after 10 years
Technically, it's the third. Half-Life 2: Survivor (Japan-exclusive arcade version of HL2) has an official model of Gordon in Source 1.

I just realized, Gordon glances at Alyx while she was in Gman’s dimension. So that means he saw Gman taking Alyx away before she disappeared
I also noticed that Gordon stands up here, but in the post credits Eli was waking him up. This implies that he was doing this animation in the post credits, looking at how unfazed he is, he understood already what happened to Alyx before Eli even told him.

A lot of people don't seem to know that this model + it's animations were used in the ending of Half Life Alyx. The model doesn't hint towards a new Half Life game, but what does is that the ending basically told you there would be another.
