Haha.. there it is. Love this C8L ui. Sofirn did improve their terms of tactical' with this torch. c8l use a boost driver. c8g sst40 is a regulated fet if im not mistaken. dta@blf get 5amp @tailcap with the c8gsst40. For me; beamwise this c8L wins in terms of usefulness. you can spot your target at distance with larger hotspot. guess this is security use and/or LEP approved. o, if strobe is needed, you have it with double halfclick from off from the tailswitch. Firefighter its be better to be carry a sofirn sp70, it use dual battery which means longer runtime, and it is bigger body like maglite cops always use so it can be a baton to break a car window.
@@harisyoung4110I've already got the C8L and SP33, which covers the majority of work requiring throw and flood at a distance-- what I need is something to light up a room hands-free when running medical calls or stick on the side of a car to see where we're cutting. I definitely don't need something the size of a MagLite, we got a whole truck full of toys for breaking windows! 😂
@@AmbuBadger Then if for lighting up entire room you should consider multi emitter led like a sofirn sp36 or q8 plus, it will flood the entire area...
Xhp50.3hi in a c8 body is really a good combination.. i've got one that i mount on my AR15 coyote rifle, but that one i build myself using convoy c8+ body with pressure switch, xhp50.3hi led and a 12group driver that can be set to single high mode.. that thing is a beast, throw and illuminate farther than my sf m640 scout.
I had the thought that it had impressive balance of throw and flood just before you mentioned it . the tint looks nice and neutral as well in the vid .
I own both. I live in rural location. No lights of any kind to distract evaluation. No moonlight. Up to high both flashlights are very very close. While the C8l hass much more lumens on turbo, the reflector breaks up the light into a "matte" appearance and spreads it out. The C8G on turbo beats the C8L in distance as its more concentrated, but a 1000 lumens less!
Dosen't get hot like the C8L on turbo.
Yes, that SST-40 will punch out further and with cleaner beam.
I like the fact the c8l has both the tail switch and the charging port!!
Thanks for the review. I was about to order the thrunite v6 catapult, as I needed a throwy light with a nice flood to it as well, when I saw the new C8L and that made me hold off on that. The c8L is probably 20 bucks or so cheaper than the catapult and it has a tailswitch which I love. Now I'm genuinely torn and will wait for more reviews on the C8L.
I don't like the Catapult because of the beam profile. This is the better deal.
I love the video, it gives a clear idea of what to choose according to the preferences of each one, I like the XHP50.3.HI.
How will the XHP70.3Hi wow be?
You don't say the temperature is it 5000K? looks whiter

I have both the c8g and c8l,, I find the c8g has better spot and I can use the side/mode switch to turn off/on by leaving the tail switch on, but the c8l I've gotta use the tail switch to turn on/off then use side switch for the modes which is fine but I prefer the c8g., the c8l does have good range, it is more of a flood throw light, I'd say you can't go wrong either one!

On high mode, I can run it 15 minutes and it gets hot, but can easily be held. Smells hot, too. Turbo steps down, and haven't tried. The 1300-hundred lumen high mode is quite impressive and usable in its own right.

C8G - Sst-40. Spot is too nicely defined and the C8L too hazy for my taste.

@Avgrim its good enough i presume. as long you set them in the Daily/outdoor mode; which has other sets of lower level, and mode memory , so everytime you pick the light, hit the tailswitch to turn on, you wont be blasted by the 2300-2500lm turbo.
