Brass construction is the bomb
Love the warehouse sound and effect. Wow sounds Live. It is what it is. Tony/Manchester.
No. Strictly Brooklyn. Tho this (#VI) was a decidedly transition label n LP - and documentation is sketchy online for credits - this was more likely NYC Garage (Larry Levan, DJ & Headmaster) influenced.
Met both men back in the day. Tony Wilson was basically Bryan Ferry running a club n label (both fantastically poorly, ftr). He had nothing to do w production of any sort, unless you include image as part of that portfolio. Don't get me wrong - charming bloke who effected major changes, tho hapcindental - as it were..
Now, Larry Levan had absolutely nothing to do w this record either, but the sound he genuinely forged hisself outta tha booth (first cat I ever saw play keyboards along to the floor records he was spinning - cool sacrilege, btw) is hypnotically percolating here, tho clearly not 'house' or 'garage'
So, wish I could document basic personnel fer ya (beyond label credits as shown - Jeff Lane produced), but def US not UK fer sure on this. Fascinating band, nuh?
Oh, sorry for the ramble, but genuinely worth noting that NYC (and other global hot spots) were magical from about '79 thru '85 - everybody was playing EVERYTHING from every scene, neighborhood and city they could get their hands on. Yazoo/Yaz, Bush Tetras, Grandmaster Flash, Indeep, George Kranz, Konk, Pigbag, Liquid Liquid, Ledernacken, Peech Boys, Art of Noise, George Clinton, Jellybean, Bambaataa, Slits, PiL, Clash, Sly & Robbie, Eddie Grant, Dead or Alive, New Order, Shannon, etc. et al ad infinitum.
If it had a beat you could dance to, it got spun on a floor under or, at least, down the street from you.
It really was miraculous. Multiple nations under multiple grooves, all united.

há algumas inovações que jamais se aproximam das obras de arte do contemporâneo + ATUAL ainda após os próximos 30 anos.
