ive been working in a restaurant for two years and i still struggle. but ive managed to make the occasional joke and small talk with the guests. not something i couldve done when i first started!
its a slow progress. but having social anxiety and working in hospitality really tests you.

Good luck guys. First years are awful lmao but do it at your own pace. Don't feel pressured to try and show your personality straight away. If it takes years for you to open up and feel comfortable to show everyone who you are, then let it take years.
I'm now finally able to express myself but I really struggle with burnout from it now. It takes a lot to come off friendly and approachable since I'm so used to being on my own and preferring not to talk anyway.
You got this guys. You'll get there. Remember to be kind to yourselves!

I've been Serving tables for over 20 years. Great video. But I , personally try a different perspective. I do have an outgoing personality, but I really don't like talking to ppl. I show passion and Enthusiasm about d Food and drink menu. I use Adjectives on d food, ie. Savory,rich,creamy. Tender, excellent combination of flavors, etc. Then run away from table, promptly return get d order, and run away again. This process works. Now, of course if d guest ask or iniate d conversation u want to respond. But if u appear to be busy then u don't have time for small talk. Be ALL about how great d cocktails and food is. Get in. Get out at your tables. Learn at Least 2 cocktail. 2 apps, 2 entrees, and describe them as if it's Diamonds! Good chance, no need for small talk!?. Drop d check say a warm y'all come back and Ty. Then next table, make dat MONEY. GOOD LUCK Y'ALL
