Mr. Goldsworthy I am very glad that you started a UA-cam channel. I am a big fan of your books. They help me get away from work and everyday life. I have preordered your new book. I hope the first edition will be signed.😊 And I hope that one day you will write a major work on Byzantine empire. Greetings from Serbia.

Feel free to "go on far longer than I planned" - Can never get enough of a historian talking about their subject. :)

I've loved listening to your audiobooks. Thanks for those, and to Toldinstone for introducing me.

Dr. Goldsworthy always enjoy you insight into Roman history. Hopefully you can do a Q&A on your UA-cam channel.

Perhaps one day. At the moment, I am trying to put up a decent number of videos. Am hoping to do some conversations with historians and archaeologists about their work and why they got interested. All that is for the future, but a Q&A a possibility. In the meantime, if anyone wants to post a message here or email my website with questions or suggestions for topics, then I'll see what I can do. Might not be quick - this channel is a one man band and has to fit in with researching, writing - and daily life!

Thank you! There was many new aspects about this historic battle. Unfortunately, we as Iranians have no written evidence of such events and we do not know exactly how our decline and rise happened.

Thank you, always enjoy your insight and analysis. Especially looking forward to your forthcomimg book as Rome v Persia is such an interesting match especially for its military aspects. Btw there appears to be two versions of the hardback book - with different titles and covers; I presume one is the British English language version and the other the American English version, which is which?

The Eagle and the Lion is the UK edition released by Head of Zeus on 6th July. The US edition is called Rome and Persia and will be released by Basic Books in September. The text is identical and the US edition will have British spellings. They have different covers and some other minor details, but otherwise are the same book

Safe to say, if Crassus simply stayed in formation, perhaps harrased the parthians in some night attack, moral of the Parthians must have sinked as they would eventually ran out of arrows. The end result could have been very different ?
