    I met a fellow on a world tour while touring and his two favourite countries were Georgia and Japan(#1). I had the opportunity to host him for a couple of days when he cycled across Canada. I have heard a lot of really positive things about the people of Iran and I also have had the luck to host someone from Iran. My two favourite countries to cycle tour and at the opposite ends of the Earth are New Zealand and Iceland. I have yet to find a place I didn't like (and I include the United States in that number though there are more hostile vehicle drivers), my really favourite place is in my own backyard of here in British Columbia, Canada.

    As a very experienced touring cyclist, I agree that Georgia is the most amazing country to cycle.
    The reasons: Extreme and variant landscape, friendly people, countless amazing roads with almost zero cars, Low cost accommodations & restaurants and a big variety of fruits, vegetables & nuts, wines and vodka form grapes (chacha) on markets..
    I recommend cycling Georgia at least one month for the first time there, if not 2 months. I personally cycled there along the last several years - 5-6 months. It's worth any minute, I spent there. Georgia is a pure wild primeval original country and culture, the western lifestyle didn't destroy yet.
    About Turkey: Everything Maudi said is correct. The main problem: Turkey is too giant for cycling, and the distances are not for cycling. Not because of the length, but because it's too boring cycling the same landscape for 2 weeks and then changing to another landscape for another2 weeks.
    N/B Turkey has one of the best cuisine on this planet. Far better than any country in Europe. In Georgia, the variety of basic agricultural products on the markets is also huge, but the Georgian kitchen is on the weak side....

      I always ride in Georgia in Autumn (mid September till mid November). June is also reasonable time for cycling.
      Summer time is not appropriate for cycling, because it's very hot everywhere bellow 1000 meter, And very humid near the Black sea.

    suggestions:
    1. Russia - from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok like a Tran-Siberian bicycle tour
    2. USA - they say this big country has everything from deserts, coniferous forests, great plains to rainforests and of course there are also many very interesting cities here
    3. Argentina - cycle fromPatagonia to Tierra del Fuego

    • @lukespack
      @lukespack 3 роки тому

      You two could probably pull off a visit to Russia. A tran-siberian would be difficult that is for sure. It is so distant and so many weather zones. The eastern half would require at least one summer and a little more. Getting supplies would be another area of concern. The USA would look easy by comparison.

There is no problem with the "Western politicians" in this case. Western cyclists enjoy to cycle in Iran, because of the original culture and the warm heart of the simple people. Mooie video luitjes!!! Dit moet zeker liefhebbers inspireren! More! more! hihihihi...

    Sulawesi Islands: start from South Sulawesi to North Sulawesi and then accros the sea via ships to Ternate and Tidore Islands where European Countries (Hollland, Portugese, and Spain) battle for pepper and cloves. There are so many heritage in there. I will wait you`re in Parepare City fpr transit. (Fans from Indonesia)

    The content is amazing but a dedicated microphone (like a 30 dollar lapel mic) would improve audio quality dramatically

    • @WheelstoWander
      @WheelstoWander  3 роки тому

      We totally agree! The only thing is the camera has no mic input. We haven't found a hassle free way of doing that and not have to upgrade our camera's.

    Wonderful and inspirational. Thank you very much. I have toured in the US, Canada and Europe but have shied away from some places due to safety concerns as a Westerner, particularly an American. Can you comment on safety?

      Honestly as a european id be more afraid of cycling in the states then anywhere in europe or asia. I think in the end its the unknown that makes it dangerous. Ive seen almost every country in europe and never felt unsafe except for macedonia haha. Reality is most places are safe, try to avoid sketchy suburbs near big cities like you most likely would in the states anyways and you'd be fine!

    Bravo! What an experience. Looks like you went to Shikoku via the Shimanami Kaido across the Seto Inland sea. I did that and then through the middle of Shikoku on route 33. That was a wonderful experience for me. Thank you for sharing your journey, and the inspiration to cycle other parts of the world.
